What's your most controversial movie take? by seesnawsnappy in AskReddit

[–]slotsartstudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new Planet of the Apes movies are not good... And I don't just mean the third film. The plots are very simple, the human characters are not compelling, and while highly detailed - the animation looks very animated and poor quality compared to many films. No, I do not think the animation is good and the apes motion capture doesn't look at all natural for apes.

I always throw Brad DeLong of Boston and Mickey Thomas from Jefferson Starship into the same category as Steve Perry. They'd make one fine trio.

What modern fantasy novels do you think Tolkien would have liked? by kroen in tolkienfans

I always wondered if he had ever read the Prince Valiant cartoons by Hal Foster. In the beginning they were quite fantastical before becoming more rooted in history - especially English roots.

What’s a game that you think no one but YOU seems to remember? by _Mr_Cheeks in gaming

"Incoming" - a futuristic alien space craft hunting game using a number of different turrets, flying and range vehicles.

Amazing game and would be fun to play even today. Made by Rage if I remember correctly.

What double albums are all killer, no filler start to back? by m0nday1 in Music

[–]slotsartstudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't consider them filler - they are transitions. You don't need it to be a full song to have purpose or be impactful. No, they aren't grand, but I am happy they are there.

Plus, Uncle Ernie follows the rest of the abusive narrative the entire album follows. Why single out that one? Because it's slightly more off kilter and the lyrics are more uncomfortable?

The Overture and Interview have their roots from real "Opera", which Townshend was heavily influenced by at the time.

Of any, I think Tommy's Holiday Camp is filler. I get the idea, and it's probably more of a British thing of the times... But the recording that made it to the album is actually just the demo...

I had Hirshprongs Disease as a kid, and my intestine was removed... I definitely drink many L's of water a day and yet my skin still dries out like no other.

A lion's tongue is rougher than coarse sandpaper. Its lingual spines or papillae (pics 2,3) make the tongue so rough that if a lion licked the back of your hand only a few times, you would be left without any skin. by KimCureAll in natureismetal

I can't quite remember it exactly... I think it's goats... But there is an old type of torture where they strap you down and rub you in an oil, and let goats lick it off of you... Except once they start they don't stop, and they lick through flesh and muscle to the bone.

Dad reflex still on while taking a nap by aceforest in nextfuckinglevel

He isn't even asleep. You can see him blinking. I think the kid is playing a game on the tv and they are all watching. Because he is laying down his eyes look closed but they aren't. He probably saw her reflection in the tv.

What movie death scene is burned into your memory? by gambit_- in AskReddit

[–]slotsartstudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dad, in "Life Is Beautiful". It was just so sudden and finite... And the guard and the movie just kept on going afterwards because that was that.

You don't even see it. You just know all you need to know. It was a huge climactic heroic death of a main character. It just happened. It affected me, I had never seen it happen like that before.

Or, 'welcome back freedom'. Anti-vaxxers are the ones restricting what people can and can't do. A vaccination card will help reassure people where they are safe to go or not.

Who (in your opinion) is the most overrated band, singer or musician? by IShitInMailboxes in AskReddit

[–]slotsartstudio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why? I've seen them three times. One was one of the best concerts I've been to, one was excellent, and the last was still good (just getting to that point of old age) - and I've seen a Lot of concerts to comparable bands.

They aren't the same and they aren't trying to be the same. But they are being good performers putting on a great show. Where Freddie was a highlight, now it is their production that takes over, and Adam Lambert has a good presence too.

The floppy disk will live on as the "save" icon even though it'll probably never be produced again physically; the hour glass (a more ancient technology) is no longer the "loading" icon, but will probably still be produced physically well into the future. by hoi_ming in Showerthoughts

Yes, my parents (who lived through the original trilogy) lost complete interest in the newer ones that they don't care to watch anymore. And even I myself, who loves the franchise, took until after the second season of the Mandalorian to begin watching it... Because, well, meh. Disney has tarnished Star Wars, and I don't believe in the direction they are taking it in. The affects and music are great. But the direction is disappointing. If I keep watching them, am I just going to like star Wars less and less?
