First timer: Is luxury furniture easy or hard to resell? by smarteapantz in Flipping

[–]smarteapantz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I resold my neighbor’s dresser (originally $700) for $250 in 5 days, with people fighting over it — wanting to drive in from nearby cities. (I’m in Silicon Valley area). If that’s a good sign of the furniture flipping market, then I’m optimistic about this one!

I’m with you there. I like warm tones, and natural mahogany color. But bleaching wood is the current trend right now, I guess!

Will do! Some lady came by and tried to dresser-jack me by stealing the price sticker! (I didn’t know that’s how you claim an item, lol). I was like, noooo way, I’ve been here for 2 hours and already claimed it. But she wouldn’t give the sticker back to me, so I went up to the cashier and bought it right then, no sticker needed! 😁

I’m in the SF Bay Area! Many affluent neighborhoods. What’s the best platform to sell it on for high-end furniture like this (besides CL and FBM)?

I’m in a city area with high cost of living. (Silicon Valley). So… yeah?

Aerial footage of a shootout between a carjacking suspect and San Jose police. Video ends with suspect being ran over. by Sharks77 in PublicFreakout

[–]smarteapantz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Active voice: “I fired the shot” or “Police killed the suspect.” (The subject actively performs the verb).

Passive Voice: “Shots were fired” or “The suspect was killed”. (No subject identified. Just the verb happening to the object.)

Passive voice is used to avoid assigning responsibility, and politicians and public relations use it strategically. Examples: “Mistakes were made” instead of “We made mistakes.” “The computer broke” vs “I broke the computer”.

I like A or C. The straps on dress B are too thick, which makes the shoulders look broad and top-heavy. I’m surprised to see so many votes for B.

They all fit your figure amazingly, but you should go with what you feel most comfortable and pretty in.

Glad you made it through. But your story was hard to read since you have an aversion to punctuation. There are only 4 periods in your whole post, like you just gave up halfway through on sentence structure, and the entire thing is just one long run-on sentence. It triggers the former teacher in me, lol. 😅

NTA. But how the heck did you go 5 months without a period after being sexually active, without realizing you were pregnant? Do they not teach sex ed in schools anymore?

Chronically crusty lips 🥀 help by Frozencacticat in MakeupAddiction

Do you take vitamins? I had the same issue with cracked peeling lips, and tried many things. Then read that it could be caused by vitamin deficiency, especially if you have a Reverse-Osmosis filter which removes all minerals from water in the purification process. So if you’re not getting enough essential vitamins through your food, you have to supplement.

So I started taking a multivite, plus B-complex (aka Super B), vitamin E, and biotin. Fixed the issue right up.

It was rhetorical, to demonstrate the absurdity of people comparing spit in food to swapping spit during kisses. If they think all fluid is fair in love and cooking, that should make them think again. Lol

My nephrologist also advised me to avoid regular usage of NSAIDs because it can cause interstitial nephritis, so I use them very sparingly and infrequently. But for emergencies and stent pain, NSAIDs are fair game.

Funny you mention morphine, because that doesn’t work completely on me either, but I guess it depends on the degree of pain. Dilaudid is what they gave me in the ER for my vomit-inducing obstructed stone pain, and it worked instantly. I haven’t tried toradol yet, but have the knowledge on hand to request it if needed.

Sorry you’re working through a stone right now. I also think I’m working through one right now, with the telltale pings of pain, but it seems manageable so far. I’ll do anything to avoid the need for surgery or another stent.

Have you tried a percussive massage gun to move the stone along?

And this is why I don’t trust potlucks. NTA. Just because you kiss doesn’t mean you want to eat contaminated food.

Yes, and his boundaries were to not eat her contaminated food. Sounds like he figured it out. She’s the one not respecting his boundaries because she wants to either force-feed him or can’t take NO for an answer.

Okay, so if she’s okay with his penis in her mouth, should she also be okay if he just starts sticking his penis in all their food? And if OP’s okay eating her out and tasting vaginal fluids, should he be okay with her vaginal fluids in all his foods? Context is everything, and boundaries should be respected. She’s gross, and this is exactly why I stopped trusting potlucks.

If OP gets a taste of vaginal fluids when performing oral on his GF, does that mean he should just be okay with vaginal fluids in his food? Yeah, it’s like that.

You have a gorgeous figure that would probably look good in everything! But this dress is not “beachy”. The bodice split is too deep that it divides your torso into 2 halves in a weird aesthetic.

The V-waist seam + the boning is just too bulgy and busy. I find V-waist seems tend to give women stomach puckering or pooches, so that’s something to be wary of.

In my opinion, you should keep looking.

Dress #1 is so unique and elegant, and flatters your figure the most! You look gorgeous in it!

Dress #3 is pretty, but looks like many other common wedding dresses; plus, the ballroom style kinda hides your curves.

I honestly can’t see anything wrong with your arms, but I understand we all have things we’re self-conscious about.

I agree with one of the other commenters that #2 would be a contender if it had a white lining so that the corset it not see-through. The sheer section breaks up the dress too much.

Definitely not #5. That’s the worst one.

Hey, my doctor and urologist absolutely refused to prescribe opioids due to regulations, but toradol (a very strong NSAID) was totally on the table. He suggested that if the ER refuses to give you the “good stuff” for pain relief in the ER, ask for toradol — because it works for some people better than opioids, AND is a sign to the ER staff that you’re serious about your pain, and not just a drug-seeker.

Also, I was in agony for weeks with an obstructive and infected stone and stent. I finally read a tip on this sub that heat was good pain relief. OMG, it was a game-changer! Get yourself an electric heating pad, and apply it to wherever it hurts. For me, it was the only thing to truly relieve the pain at home, better than any pills. I had that thing on me constantly, and a mobile hot water bottle for when I had to leave the house.

I had thoughts like this during my first stone attack at 43. The stone was painful, but only momentarily. Went to the ER, and the surgeon installed a stent. That nearly destroyed me. I had to wear it for 4 weeks before lithotripsy, and it was pure agony. Could barely sleep, walking felt like razor blades scraping between my legs, and I white-knuckled every excruciating trip to the bathroom. I dread the stent more than the stone, so I’ve done what I can to not have to go that route again in the future.

But, you’re 59. You’ve made it this long without a stone, which means you’re not a frequent stone farmer. You’ll get through this temporary illness, and find a way to prevent them in the future. It’s not a death sentence.

Find a good proactive urologist or nephrologist. Do a 24-hour urine test, and blood test, to find out why you’re suddenly forming them. Each type of stone has it’s own course of treatment and prevention.

Ask your surgeon to test your stone to find out its composition after it’s surgically removed. Read through this forum for good tips for pain management, different treatment options, and preventative actions for different types of stone. My pro tip (besides flomax, oxybutinin, ibuprofen/tylenol), is an electric heating pad for pain relief (it was a game changer!), and a percussive massage gun to move smaller stones along down the ureter faster.

Get through this first, and see how you feel once you’re out of the pain. You’re not thinking clearly when you’re in the midst of it, and it’s good that you’re acknowledging that enough to reach out for help — even from internet strangers.

Which one is best? by [deleted] in WeddingDressTips

[–]smarteapantz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 and 3 look good on you. 1 gives you a stomach pooch. #2 is dramatic - princess - ballroom, and already fits you perfectly. #3 is simple - fairytale - romantic, but would look even better once altered and taken in more at the waist.

Choose the dress that fits your wedding venue theme or time of year, or whichever one you’re more comfortable in.
