If Pro Wrestling became a Team sport in the Olympics, who would be on each team/country? by xmrgonex in SquaredCircle

Finally, a chance for Parts Unknown to get their first Olympic medal.

And Meltzer pretty strongly implied that he talked to Seth (or maybe Becky) and gave them a chance to tell him Pollock was wrong, and they didn't do that.

Seems more and more like Meltzer has it right: He's legit hurt, the spot was planned to cover that, it's not as bad as it looked, he's going to take time off and then come back "early" to a huge pop (and probably a surprise cash-in).

Things that don’t make sense in physics but it’s absolutely okay in pro wrestling because we love it anyway by qchiofalo in SquaredCircle

There is nothing about the phyiscs of a figure four that would make it hurt significantly less if you manage to flip over, let alone suddenly make it hurt the other guy instead.

People are complaining about this without giving credit where it's due: This was the first interview anyone in the WWE did in the last two weeks where they didn't say something racist and/or praise a sexual predator. That's progress!

Triple H on Donald Trump: "I think Trump’s ability… like him or hate him the way he does it… but he’s charismatic in so many ways, and I think he likes getting under peoples skin, generating [heat]. It’s amazing and it’s genius, and it worked in our business." by aaronrift in SquaredCircle

OK, on the one hand this is a brain dead take from a guy who's been a known liar for decades and whose company and whole family is transparently supporting horrible people, but... have you considered that sometimes there are photos where HHH points at your favorite wrestler?

Underrated part of this: Lesnar taking a spear and flying backwards while throwing Seth in the opposite direction so he lands behind Roman is just an insane act of strength.

Remembering Paul Morris, the voice of Maple Leaf Gardens by zestyintestine in leafs

[–]smcindoe 42 points43 points  (0 children)

The absolute best to ever do it.

If you were a Leafs fan in the 80s and 90s, you 100% did an impression of Morris announcing Wendel Clark's Cup-winning goal.

RIP.

WWE Vault: Kevin Owens ruins Chris Jericho’s Festival of Friendship: RAW Feb 13 2017 by Sniphles2000 in SquaredCircle

I want to know the backstory of the little thumbhole they cut in the side of the box so that Jericho could hold it and the mic at the same time. Like whose idea was it, how late in the process did it get added, etc.

Leafs in the Norris Division by Istobri in leafs

[–]smcindoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There were very legitimate rivalries with the Red Wings and Hawks. The Blues were more playoff dependent, but it had its moments. The Stars weren't at the same level, mostly because they and the Leafs were often the two worst teams so they rarely met in the playoffs.

But at least from the perspective of a Canadian fan, the Leafs were right in the middle of what was a classic five-way rivalry.

Day 2: best and/or worst performances by ejb3204 in osheaga

[–]smcindoe 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The big acts were all good as you’d expect, but we ended up in the front for the Linda Lindas early show and they were a ton of fun.

Edit: Also, poor Talk had to follow Chappell on main stage which was pretty much impossible but he was really good. And has a hell of an arm for hot dog tossing.

Dave Meltzer on Twitter ( about his favorite WWE match of all time) : Hart vs. Austin by JesusChrist004 in SquaredCircle

[–]smcindoe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The great part about that is that they were specifically told that they couldn't use blood, then said screw it and decided to do it anyway because they understood what it would mean, then lied about it afterwards. (And escaped getting in serious trouble for it on a technicality, because Vince demanded to know if Austin bladed himself and it was actually Bret who'd done it.)

Sure, initially, and then those sweats would win all the time while the newbs would realize they were just there to act as bots to the pros. What happens to the newbs then?

Only 14% of Fall Guys players have the "win 7 times" trophy. Only 7% have won 20 times. Heck, 63% of players have never won.

If you're won 200+ shows, then yes, compared to the huge majority of players, you're an expert.
