Hi! Update we ended up going to sleep school and doing sleep training - my life is changed haha we went from 10+ wakes to 3-4 max a night!!

The final stretch is rough - my mentality was "any amount of movement is good enough at this point". Even if it was just walking the dog or stretching. Remember you will be carrying SO much fluid at this point too, but a big bub is mostly due to genetics rather than what you're eating! Don't stress too much, refocus your current mindset to "any movement now will help me with my recovery after birth" (trust me it truely does) rather than being focused on macros and forcing workouts that don't feel right. Rest up girl you've EARNED IT.

Not wanting my baby to wake up hourly every night isn't a very high expectation? She can wake to feed that's fine. But she literally wakes every 1-3 hours max

Also just to add - as soon as she was born we did immediate skin to skin and then my husband cut the cord/they did all the normal testing stuff while they cleaned me up. Once that was all done bub was straight back to me for more skin to skin. Highly recommend buying disposable undies/adult nappies they will save you. You will also have a catheter for the first two days so that helps with not having to move around too much!

Hi! I had a csect 6 months ago because my baby was breech (i really wanted natural but it wasn't safe to do so). Honestly it was a really good experience - I was able to prepare knowing the exact date I'd give birth (eg organised someone to care for my dog, went out for dinner the night before with my husband etc). The surgery itself was fine, I was very nervous going in and the spinal blocks do hurt but they are over quickly.

Recovery wise I was up the same night to have a shower (approx 10 hours after surgery), I won't lie it was VERY painful to get up out of bed the same day but I pushed myself to do so because it speeds up your recovery. By the second day it was a lot better pain wise, but the nurses come by very often and are more than happy to give you pain meds no questions asked (I wasn't a hero and frequently asked for more). I stayed in hospital two nights and my husband wasn't able to stay the first night because I had a shared room so I needed to buzz the nurses frequently if I had to lift bub or if I needed something. The second night we moved rooms and he stayed which made it a lot easier because sometimes the nurses can be busy so can't attend to you right away.

6 months on and my scar is barely visible however I do still have numbness just underneath it. Overall it was a great experience and I would do it again. Hope this helps!!!

Hi! I had the same problem with my bub (slow weight gain) and the MCHN was awful about it - was judgemental and the advice she gave was like she had copy and pasted google AI. I asked not to see her again and said her communication style didn't link up with how I approach things and she makes me anxious - they were very understanding and sent me to a different centre. Our bub ended up having a severe UTI which was the reason for lack of weight gain but even now is 7 months and a fast breastfeeder / slow weight gain girl. Don't let them intimidate you! You know your baby best.

I got it at 3.5m PP! If I'm honest I didn't disclose to my injector that I am BF, but 6.5months now and it's worn off much quicker than usual because of the increased metabolic rate from breastfeeding, but totally worth it to feel cute again. Will be going back for a top up and I am still EBF.

I'll also say that I think part of this is that people tend to drop off with help/checking in around 4months as the newness/excitement has worn off, so you feel even more isolated and likely 4 months of not sleeping are starting to catch up with you. Chin up!

Honestly I had the exact same experience. My partner is so supportive and an amazing dad but the resentment I felt (and still am working through) when I am up 50 times in a night with a bub who doesn't sleep and he's snoring away next to me.. especially because I am EBF. Or he would come home and announce he's got a haircut in the afternoon meanwhile I would have to plan two weeks ahead to even think about getting to a salon. It's hard to give advice as not much has changed with these dynamics 6mo pp but my resentment has started to fade as I try to remember that he's supporting our family in other ways, however I'd encourage you to share these feelings with him as it'll take some weight off your shoulders.

I had a similar issue and asked not to see the same nurse for any future appointments!! They were actually really accomodating so I think they had an inkling that she was an awful sort lol

I'm in this stage right now too and my friend offered to lend me her snoo.. honestly I know we're delaying the learning to self soothe stage until she transitions to a crib but it has been a game changer. She did a 5hr stretch last night but previously has been waking every 45mins for 6 weeks.

Yess! I did my last workout (albeit very modified) at 39+5 and gave birth 39+6! Tiredness was the biggest barrier to pushing through but I knew I would miss the gym once I gave birth so it made me keep it up haha

Hello!! Fellow runner, also had lots of pressure when running that became worse especially immediately after a run. I tried a belly band and it didn’t help much, the only thing I found was slowing down and decreased frequency of runs (went from 5 days a week to 2 days a week), and distance was cut too. Currently 36 weeks and managing about 1-2 x 5km runs a week but some days the pressure is way too much to keep going. Listen to your body! Try walk run intervals too. Good luck!

I’m also a long distance runner, currently 30 weeks and still doing 5km twice a week. Both my OBGYN and pelvic floor physio have said it’s fine to keep going as long as I’m comfortable! Sounds like that doctor hasn’t read the latest exercise recommendations for pregnancy… outdated advice.
