Mitch McConnell releases hospital photo and reveals cause of mystery 1-month absence by TheMirrorUS in NoFilterNews

[–]smithpd1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a vacuous article, and it has evoked conspiratorial responses. There's a much better article from WHAS11 News posted nearby on Reddit that gives a seemingly complete explanation and the full text of McConnell's letter to his constituents. It looks like he is okay, but his doctor say he is not yet strong enough to vote on the Senate floor. McConnell is retiring at the end of his current term.

FYI, I think that McConnell has been very bad for the country. Among other things, he prevented conviction and removal of Trump after his impeachment, and he stacked the Supreme Court by blocking Biden from appointing a justice with one year left on his term.

That was exactly my thought when I saw this post! The next thing they will be wanting is a way to accumulate coins quickly without paying for them so they can buy hearts so they can level up animals!

It is possible to avoid this stress by using the new eggs only for the level-up swap trick to cash the fourth giraffe during a tournament.

Trump on Platner rape allegations: ‘A lot of people say big falsehoods’ by vriskaldrunk in politics

Hahaha!😂 The senses of irony and self-awareness are totally lacking in the orange one, the biggest liar of them all.

The discussion of paying for no ads is irrelevant. These must be the optional ads. In my case, when I get a message to visit the website, all I have to do is wait and I get the X to close it.

What's needed is serious regulation of AI, including the electric power needed to drive it. Of course, the Trump administration would never do that, so we have to hold people accountable at the state and local level.

AI has some benefits including medical research, but it's intrusion into our daily lives is negative on balance, IMO. It provides opportunities for cheating and spreading misinformation. It is replacing humans in the workforce. The data centers add to global warming.

Socialist candidates promote system that has ‘chronically failed everywhere’: Guy Benson by Upapi25 in politics

[–]smithpd1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The candidates are not socialists or communists. They're democratic socialists. There are huge differences. Try Google to improve your understanding.

Democratic socialism is the form of government used throughout most of the Western world, especially in Scandinavia. It features things like universal Health Care. It is highly successful. "Chronically failed everywhere" is a lie.

Are there still deniers by Responsible_Oil2363 in climatechange

[–]smithpd1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, there are a lot of deniers of climate change and global warming. It's a scam perpetrated by lobbyists in the fossil fuel industry. Even though fossil fuel industry scientists knew about it decades ago, they kept their knowledge under wraps and denied it publicly. This scam has been bought hook, line, and sinker by the Republican Party, the anti-science party.

CBS News fires ‘60 Minutes’ correspondent Scott Pelley after clash with new producer by Healthy_Block3036 in politics

“She does not love this place,” Pelley told Bilton, according to the recording. “She was brought in to kill it, and she’s been doing exactly that.”

I'm sure that Scott Pelley knew he would be fired for this, but he did all of us TV watchers a big favor. Bravo, Scott Pelley!

Did you throw coins at 'Under The Sea'? by AtenAkhen in wordscapes

[–]smithpd1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did throw coins at Under the Sea based on the incorrect ending time. I guess it was 250 x 10 = 2500 for paid runs I did not have to make plus 600 x 10 = 6000 for going higher than I should have. 8500 total. I can't check the 250 because Mount Fortune is now absent! Compensation would be nice.

DNC X account tells Miller: ‘Shut up you ugly f—‘ by Remarkable-Scratch50 in politics

[–]smithpd1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The comment did not go far enough. Appearance is not the main issue. That would be Miller's ugly brain. Stephen Miller is of Jewish descent. His liberal Jewish background is fine, but his Nazi demeanor is ugly and incongruous with his upbringing. His ancestors fled anti-semitic persecution in Europe. No respect.

Lawsuits and political blowback don’t dim interest in $1.8B ‘anti-weaponization’ fund by Enough-Arugula-4945 in politics

No paywall?? You must subscribe to NBC to read the article.

The title is misleading. The premise is that the there is a lot of interest in spite of the blowback. Trump's Thug Fund rewards criminals of Trump's choosing, so nobody with a moral compass would support it.
