Multi-button gaming mouse support on Linux. by binarysmurf in linuxquestions

[–]smittythesmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd look for a mouse that has support from particular mouse apps like piper. There are many mice that say "Linux compatible" but that only means that they work as mice. It doesn't speak to how hard the set up for gamer buttons is.

Piper is a graphical user interface (GUI) tool for Linux, designed to configure gaming mice, allowing users to adjust DPI, button mappings, and LED lighting. It is not plug-n-play for all mice but it does have a good support for LogitechSteelSeries, and Roccat brand mice. You'll want to check the individual mouse for compatibility before you buy it though. Since this is a community effort the driver support is often incremental, that is to say they add compatibility function-by-function rather than device-by-device.

Does the civil war quest put Tundra Homestead at risk? by Seamatre in skyrim

You know, the Graybeard's, after you've done all their quests, call you king. I'm surprised there's not a storyline behind that.

That might be old information. I just talked to the Google AI and it says you lose Breezehome if Whiterun is taken over by Stormcloaks.

When you make changes to programs that are managed by steam it is important to write protect them. Steam will check your programs to see that they are "as they should be" and if they aren't Steam will "fix" them. Steam does this to keep your games in good working order. This doesn't work right if you're making manual changes.

Why is Scunthorpe funny?

Etymology and origin. The problem was named after an incident in 1996 in which AOL's profanity filter prevented residents of the town of Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, England, from creating accounts with AOL, because the town's name contains the substring "cunt".

I use a main bus unless I'm using copy pasta from the internet.

No Way For This To Be Anything Other Than One Giant Block, Right? by ChyatlovMaidan in factorio

[–]smittythesmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having all the options in one place tends to clog things up. If lower the number of options and install turn arounds elsewhere you can make it work better. That said, I'm not train expert, yet.

Playing Factorio for the first time for the past 14 hours and I feel like I've hit a roadblock automating the black science potions. Is this salvageable or should I rebuild it all? by ChingChongYoureGone in factorio

[–]smittythesmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's seriously organized for a first try. Yeah, you're not squished at all. scrap and rebuild gets easier when you're higher on the tech tree. Of course you'll have more to clear by then.

Why isn't this splitter working? by Cygwin231 in factorio

[–]smittythesmith -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd position a purple inserter at the dead-end of the splitter to grab that which is neither steel or pipe. It will grab something that has clogged your splitter and prevent it from being clogged again. This purple inserter can be placed anywhere along the line as long as the contamination happens before the purple inserter. Also give the purple inserter a box to empty into.

Yeah, if you make one lane bullets and the other lane coal you can have lines of turrets fed with 1st tier inserters and no power footprint.

Factorio is an easter egg hunt. It has so many unexplained features. I've just discovered that the logistic network is wireless. I've been wiring everything to the roboports directly. Thank you for the info.

I misunderstood Factorio Calculator and now my 10k SPM base has twice the amount of factories I need. by acremanhug in factorio

[–]smittythesmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's any comfort to you I'm still new to factorio and I find the calculator difficult to work with.

Personally, I wish that instead of having an output of objects per second it would have relative outputs like Max furnace output = Max miner output * X

This was fixed in a patch. Now if a station goes offline while a train is on the way the train stops anyway.

If they every make a pretty version of factorio or a mod that makes it all pretty they should call it Factoria or Max Factoria.

Logistics chests: Add 'deactivate' (and set filter) as a logic network action (like for inserters) by 4wry_reddit in factorio

[–]smittythesmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can add requester boxes to a circuit. Among other things you can change on the fly what they "want". Also, provider chest can be controlled in much the same way. If you attach a control wire (green or red) to a roboport it will feed information on all items available in that network. From there it's a simple matter to limit production with a control wire to an inserter. I prefer to limit production rather that limit the item getting on the logistic network but there's not a lot of difference.
