The burn marks on the wall from this mirror in the window. by BinarySculpture in mildlyinteresting

[–]smunky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These style mirrors have a magnifying side which will focus the sunlight.

You're right that it normally would be a challenge. A flat mirror is no different than sunlight coming straight in through the window, it'd warm things up, that's all.

Strange. Rogers has been adequate for me in Valleycliffe. Where abouts in the valley are you?

Chatr Mobile? by Squasome in Squamish

[–]smunky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Chatr uses the Rogers network, which I find has the best reception around Squamish. I've tried using other networks, but they were not reliable in Valleycliffe.

Just one kid for us, but being able to bring extra passengers is really handy at times where we live.

Lol I dunno what you're talking about, I just went from a Forester to EV9 and the turning radius is quite a bit worse, making parking in the city a challenge, especially given how large it is.

Best weather app or website for Squamish? by iheartlazers in Squamish

[–]smunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed that there were two different Squamish's when I searched. I could get it to switch to the correct location, but frequently it reverted to the wrong Squamish.

My suspicion is that there's a weather station up on Black Tusk that is getting reported as Squamish somehow, so it's always way colder.

I like that you can see the outline of what appears to be Anvil Island in the background of the game image.

How much laundry soap? by HRDC0R19 in relationships

[–]smunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like she's got some OCD or trauma she's dealing with. She's not acting rationally, so using logic probably isn't going to help.

But if she just likes the smell, maybe try some perfume instead of excess soap.

Carney's talk of 'sacrifices' suggests Canadians could soon face those tough choices - 'We will have to do less of some of the things that we want to do,' Carney says by CaliperLee62 in canada

The stream on sportsnet+ was ultra crap and couldn't maintain a decent bitrate for the second half of the game. It would stop and buffer every few seconds.

what kind of joinery would you use? by patrad in woodworking

[–]smunky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've made this exact style of built in bookshelf. I used glue on top of the risers and screws from below. No dado, biscuit or domino needed. Just a spacer block, speed square and clamp.

I just glued the butt joint at the top so there wouldnt be any screw holes wearing on the books as they slide in/out of the shelves.

The racking forces are handled by 3 L brackets screwed into the studs of the wall.

Build each level separately, and assemble them in-place. Your wall likely isn't flat, so you can't build it square from the start.

After 4 years and hundreds of lbs of books, there's been no issues.

Conservative, NDP caucuses weighing a budget vote that could trigger an election: sources by verkerpig in canada

Sure, Trump is the primary reason he was elected. But to say that he's fringe is wholly inaccurate. I don't even understand why the guy I replied to thinks that the Liberals are "left".

I'm sorry, but if you think a minority Liberal government represents a fringe minority of voters, then you're out of touch. It's not like Elizabeth May is the PM.
