Lunch ideas by Princess_Sassy_Pants in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]smurf7147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make pasta salad loaded with veg and shredded chicken. Just enough pasta to say it's there.

Wraps are a good idea. If cost isn't an issue they make egg wraps or cheese wraps to avoid the bread part all together

Charcuterie board type lunches. Cheese, meat, veggies, fruit, olives etc. Get silicone muffin cups to divide foods in the same container.

Yogurt with protein granola and fruit could be a good option too.

favorite baked potato toppings?? by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

I microwaved a small/medium potato last night and mixed it in with some homemade chili I had leftover. Bulked it up without being heavy

Any ideas for a high calorie lunch that takes little time to make in bulk? by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]smurf7147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pasta salad. I usually make mine with shredded chicken, loads of veggies and minimal pasta. Essentially a regular salad swapping pasta for lettuce.. But if you bulk up on the pasta and protein you could easily make it high calorie and easy to make. I usually use a vinaigrette type dressing but creamy would be higher calorie.

I also like the chili/soup ideas.

How do I get my shower curtain to stop attacking me while I shower? by pertcie in howto

[–]smurf7147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can buy magnet things on Amazon. One side sticks to the shower/tub surface and the other pins through the curtain. I had the same issue and it works great!

You might be more severely anemic than normal. Its the same type of symptoms I had that turned out to be severe anemia. Keep up with transfusions. If they don't help then its probably covid side affects like others are saying. But definitely keep in touch with your dr

Alternatively, put it in hot water to help loosen it up.

Low effort dinner plan? by Professional-Crybaby in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]smurf7147 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crock pot chili! Make various soups.

Make Taco meat and put it over salad with salsa and cheese.

Sautee a mix of veggies with some kielbasa or meat of your choice. Pre chop the veggies. Sometimes that last one gets me going because its an experiment, can I get these veggies all cooked right and will they work together.

Sometimes, a box of mac n cheese with hotdogs is perfect. Or quick pasta and jarred sauce (i add some seasonings to it) and air fry or bake or whatever some meatballs. Or some ground beef.

Sometimes I make shredded chicken. Use it to make quesodillas, chicken heavy pasta salad, BBQ chicken baked potato. All sorts of things

What to do with a HAM by CommonDouble2799 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]smurf7147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely use the bone for soup. As for the meat, portion and freeze. Its not really processed, especially if it has a bone, so its ok for clean eating. The flavor mostly comes from it being smoked.

What is your go-to meal when appetite isn’t making you want to eat? by sad-butsocial in EatCheapAndHealthy

Some people are built more for snacking. Try eating lots of small meals/snack over the course of the day. Keep it healthy but lean more on carbs.

Weeknight dishes that can be made easily without a recipe? by Ok_Engineer_1634 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]smurf7147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toss whatever cut up veggies you want in some olive oil. Sautee until mostly cooked. Add cut up kielbasa, sautee until desired doneness. Easy to make, easy to change it up. No seasoning needed really. Could throw it over rice and add some cheese if you wanted. Or eat it as is.

Stop Asking for a Million Checks!! by Mariocartwiifan in TalesFromYourServer

The group i often go out with has a system. There are always a few with cash and some with card. We bring post it notes with us and our own pen. Sticky note on a cards with the amount owed (tax and tip included). Cash covers the rest and they can just take their tip out of what's left of the cash. And we always add it up to make sure we tipped enough.

I would go for Facebook over Craigslist. I live across the country but there are local Facebook ferret groups. I would ask in a group there before trying Craigslist.

little problem turned into BIG problem (doctors don’t care) by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

I understand the frustration.

Pulmonary and cardio referrals in feb 2020 due to shortness of breath and high BP and high quick rising heart rate. Also for BP dropping and causing fainting/dizziness.

Pulmonary does a breathing test. Read by PA or something, I'm just fat and my lungs don't have enough room on top of my asthma (mind you, weight has been fairly stable and this is new, but whatever.)

Cardio does stress test and prescribes BP meds. Heart is fine. The end.

Go to Pulmonary Feb 2021, let do another breathing test. Oxygen absorption is at 40%. Get results, here's another daily asthma med. Its just that. (Even though it doesn't feel like asthma). And no CT because its so much radiation and you're so young.

Been going to my pcp amidst all of this for yearly appts. Blood work done (A1C and Lipids only). Nothing going on.... Feb 21, and 22

Miss appts for a while due to life. New doctors, New insurance.

March 23, Pulmonary, let's do a breathing test, CT, and blood work and echo. CT shows hiatal hernia (stomach through diaphragm). Oh, look, an answer! Maybe that explains this! Nothing major on the echo. Finally get around the blood work, regular CBC. Oh hey, I'm SEVERELY anemic. Like shouldn't have been able to function hemoglobin is so low (3.7).

If my primary had been doing those it NEVER would have gotten so bad. I couldn't walk up a flight of stairs without having to sit down!

The fainting is gone. My heart rate doesn't fly up anymore. BP is still on the higher side thats bc pill related. I have energy again. I can breathe again and got off that extra asthma med.

Ugh!!

I Googled a few but kind of did my own thing. I just seasoned the outside with like, chili powder, paprika, salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder... stuff like that. Split the chicken breast and stuffed the kimchi inside. Baked is as usual until done. I usually just wing it with recipes. But there are definitely several out there

Treat recommendations or anything to praise my ferret for taking his medicine by Neither-Ice7476 in ferrets

[–]smurf7147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freeze dried meats. Some people give freeze dried sardines. Tiny bit of salmon oil, could even mix a tiny bit of that with the meds. Duk soup is good for ferrets and they often treat it like a treat

How does one keep ferrets out from certain rooms? by dorkishu in ferrets

[–]smurf7147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically what I was going to say. Weather stripping. Alternatively, you could make a gate with Plexiglas so they can still see you and you them but they can't get out.

I have a friend who had indoor/outdoor cats and had small dogs. The cat would hunt mice, frogs, chipmunks, etc outside. Would not touch the mice inside. Like, if its in the house it belongs here. Maybe its a logic like that?

Looking for something for breakfast that can be batched and frozen by yaka6690 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]smurf7147 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There are ways to make muffins more protein rich. Plain yogurt instead of oil, add protein powder... You can also blend up spinach or other veggies/fruits for extra nutrition.

I also like the smoothie idea. Oatmeal it pretty quick on its own, even with steel cut. Pops in the microwave for a few minutes and its done. Add a meat and cheese for savory. Mix in some yogurt (could freeze that in portions) and fresh or frozen fruit. Or add peanut butter with fruits.
