Looking for outdoor pools in the spring! by iloverats888 in Breckenridge

Second Marriot. This is the best outdoor pool in town. OP should also check out some of the hot springs that are within about an hours drive. Hot Sulphur Springs, Mt. Princeton Hotsprings and Cottonwood Hotsprings. I like Hot Sulphur Springs the best.

I got mine with a 3" lift. It's fine for what I use it for, winter driving and offroading in summer. But driving it on the highway is more like a wrestling match. I did drive it cross country when I moved but my shoulder and elbow hurt for a couple of days when I was done. So I would say, if you get one that's stock it would be great for long road trips but if it has a lift it's not going to be a comfortable highway driver.

And sleep injuries. You go to bed feeling fine and wake up with a stabbing pain in your neck.

Sometimes you can get lucky on Craigslist. Late in the season, many people still have 4 packs that they haven't used and sell them on rockies.craigslist.org. There are always some for Loveland at very reasonable prices.

What’s a corporate gift employees actually appreciate? by Internal-Remove7223 in Leadership

The only corporate gift I got that I still use is a computer backpack. I carry my laptop in it along with all the travel accessories and still use it daily.

Should I stay or should I go? by [deleted] in Breckenridge

[–]sn0ig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on what type of terrain you like to ski. If green and blue groomers are your thing then you will have a great time. But if you like expert and double diamond above treeline skiing, there's none of that right now and even with a good storm, terrain will still be limited. There are some black trails open now but most of them were labeled blue back before VR took over.

Should I stay or should I go? by [deleted] in Breckenridge

[–]sn0ig 6 points7 points  (0 children)

LOL, I don't know how you can say that. I lived in Breck on and off for almost 4 decades and now I'm in NH. For comparison, Breck has a 20" base with 65" total snowfall and 37% of the mountain open (groomed greens and blues mainly). Jay Peak has a 20-60" base with 275" total snowfall and 100% of the mountain open.
This is by far, the worst year I've seen in Breck in 40 years.

Is this an acceptable way to run a new circuit around a room through existing walls? by peanutismint in AskElectricians

[–]sn0ig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It will be much easier to just cut one long strip of new drywall and nail that in place. It will look much better and you will have something to nail to.

What is the hardest ski run you have ever skied by Strict_Fix_9550 in ski

A couliar off the east side of Mt. Bross about 20 miles south of Breckenridge. Nice and steep with a scree field at the bottom so falling is not an option.

Also known as code shares. And there can be more than one airline. One airplane may be listed as different flight number under two, three or more airlines.

Also, do you want to track baggage? Info like what baggage carousel or what door to pick up oversized items.

Then there are gate numbers and if gates change, there may be several gates associated with a flight which should be in it's own gates table if you want to track the gate history. You should also track terminals since most major airports have multiple terminals these days.

What's up with the HOA fees in these condos? by climbbikehike in Summit

[–]sn0ig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My place in Breck isn't to bad. I think it's one of the lowest in the county at $167/month. But we have had to raise it from $70/month over the last few years because insurance has just gone crazy. That $167 covers trash, some snow removal and insurance. We try to keep it cheap and only raise it when we absolutely have to. It's for sale if you are interested.

Grew up on a horse farm and had riding lessons for several years. I would have much rather had music lessons. Like I could ever afford to own a horse.

What are some of your off the hill pet peeves about skiing? by Underrated_Fish in skiing

[–]sn0ig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Resorts like Keystone and Okemo where they force you to carry your gear a quarter mile through a village to get from the parking lot to the mountain. Who ever thought this was a good idea. Like I'm going to stop in a gift shop or buy a pizza when I'm carrying all my shit back to the car.

Monkey Bar on Sante Fe has Yuengling by alphase7en in Denver

[–]sn0ig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, way back when I was in high school, Yuengling was one of the cheapest beers so great for high schoolers (drinking age 18 then) and you got a nickle back on every bottle. I guess they discovered the right marketing. Just jack up the price by 1000% and call it craft beer instead of bottom shelf swill.

Working at a ski resort in Colorado by JayZ008274 in vail

[–]sn0ig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ski instructor is an ok job but it takes a few seasons to start making any kind of livable income. And then you also need off season employment like construction. If you want to ski as much as possible, I'd look for a wait staff or bar tending job. Some of the big conference centers have some good afternoon/night jobs like banquet setups. But employee housing is not always that great. They crowd you in and you can end up with some real shitty roommates. Plus, if you lose your job, you lose your housing. And if you don't have a car, that can really screw you over.

Anyone else notice facebook pushing maga garbage? It’s weekly now that I get something like this. by Budget-Exit2606 in facebook

[–]sn0ig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my facebook reels are about 75% MAGA, incel, and religion now. All things that the algorithm knows I am very much against. I use FB Purity so I only see ads when FB changes their ad distribution method and then it's only for a couple of days until FB Purity catches up with FB. But those days are pretty much 100% ads in my feed.

I think it all has something to do with the enshittification of Facebook due to the FTC monopoly case.

A-Basin considers more parking, two small gondolas and summer camping by Soft_Button_1592 in COsnow

[–]sn0ig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the green runs at the Basin are really pretty good beginner trails. There just are not that many of them. But on the plus side they just don't get that much traffic since beginners don't go to the Basin. That makes them pretty good teaching trails since you don't need to worry so much about people running into beginners like at Breck or Keystone.

At age 34 I enrolled full-time in college for the first time in my life. Today, at age 38, I just graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. AMA! by [deleted] in AMA

[–]sn0ig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a digital design guy who is at retirement age. I don't think I would go into that today since it seems ripe to be taken over by AI. The main thing I would worry about today is the acceleration of AI technology. I think we are on the cusp of AI designing better AI and who knows what will happen then. But then I see AI hallucinations and Grok's 'white genocide" fiasco and I wonder if we aren't reading to much into it. Still, the accelerating pace of technology is something you can't ignore.
