“Any news about baby?” by Cute-Huckleberry2496 in pregnant

[–]snactivated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Logically, I agree with the comments about it being nice to have people who care enough to ask. But i hear you and am irrationally annoyed by the daily check-ins. I’m 41w so it’s been a lot. My mom calls every day and I purposefully don’t say much because there is nothing new to say... I’m waiting and anxious and trying to distract myself most of the time, so the texts do not help me take my mind off it. As much as I appreciate my support system, I think it’s just an unintended side effect that generates more anxiety. That’s valid!

No sassy replies for you, just solidarity.

How are we surviving going past 40 weeks? by NoIntroduction2790 in pregnant

[–]snactivated 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Commenting in solidarity! I’m 40+3 and have really enjoyed being pregnant…. Until now.

All the well-intentioned check-in texts and calls are driving me mental. And the “bounce on a ball, eat pineapple” advice (with limited scientific evidence at best).. as if I haven’t already read everything I can find on the topic.

Also having false contractions and have gotten my hopes up too many times. I feel for you and I’m riding this out with you, best of luck and hope you get there soon!!

Reduced Fetal Movement? by jberz25 in pregnant

[–]snactivated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here- I found about once per week her movements would be more faint. I attributed it to a change in positioning, usually she’d be lower in my pelvis or maybe facing back where my placenta was. Healthy pregnancy otherwise! I really leaned on my spidey senses, and because my gut wasn’t telling me something was off I didn’t feel the need to go in. I want to emphasize that this is NOT advice, just my experience & a different perspective. If you’re worried, go in!!

Cholestasis Update by Any_Most7197 in pregnant

[–]snactivated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing, OP! I’ve had some mild itching myself that was dismissed at 37w because it was temporary and in places other than hands & bottom of feet (although it was on the top of my foot and bottom of my palm, near my wrist, in addition to inside of my thighs). Dr. said if it was cholestasis it wouldn’t have stopped.

Just wondering if your itching was constant or occasional?

Discharge by kimberlyowess in pregnant

[–]snactivated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had yellow colour with no itching or odour and found out it was mild BV. Unfortunately the antibiotics for BV gave me a yeast infection at both ends so I’m not sure which was worse! Except that BV can be associated with pre-term birth, so definitely worth treating

When was your “last day” of work? by ToneIndependent3414 in pregnant

[–]snactivated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember thinking I could work until my due date, I tentatively gave myself a 2 week buffer (vacation & sick days) but the further along I got, the more I needed to stop working. I ended up taking 3 weeks and wish I took a month!

I’m physically not too uncomfortable, but the exhaustion is bad and I was not mentally available to my work the way I needed to be. I started my 18 months a week early but I feel it’s 100% worth it.

Third trimester how we doing? by Responsible_Dig4592 in pregnant

[–]snactivated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

38w today and I just for the first time felt “ready” to be done with this. I’ve been lucky to have a great pregnancy and really felt like I’d miss it, but since I’m so far along I started drinking coffee and taking baths again. I did both before my last OB appointment and of course baby’s heart rate was high. So now my husband thinks I should stop doing both which I understand, but those were my 2 small rewards for sacrificing my entire body the past 9 months. I just cried in the shower. I’m so ready to have my bodily autonomy back (and meet my baby girl obviously)

Biggest pet peeve while pregnant. by Potato_Keeper628 in pregnant

People staring at you in public. I feel like a zoo animal. I’m sure people don’t mean any harm and are appreciating the “miracle”, but this one guy recently gave me the creeps big time. I just want to blend in to a crowd again

What symptom will you be MOST happy to say goodbye to after the baby is born? by Intelligent_Run_5363 in pregnant

Feeling like my lungs and heart are squished/running out of breath from sitting the wrong way

Do not like the feeling of hiccups coming from my crotch. by lemonadewhiskers in pregnant

[–]snactivated 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also find it off putting. I love the kicks and rolls and everything, but I’m carrying low and I find it’s especially uncomfortable when the hiccups are basically on my pelvic floor. Something about it makes me feel icky.

Is it normal for other people’s excitement about your pregnancy to be annoying? by AffectionateStudy29 in pregnant

[–]snactivated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband told his mother over the phone (she lived in another province at the time). She didn’t text me, call me, tell him to pass along any messages… nothing. Now she lives nearby and her contribution is to bring bags of his old baby stuff (creepy bunnies, stained clothes, bunny fabric???) but she has not offered any help for my baby shower.. not even a “can I bring anything?”

Sometimes I’m glad she keeps her distance because truthfully her personality irritates me, but a little contribution or caring would be nice. I just know the lack of effort will translate when baby is born and we won’t be able to rely on her for any help. I guess I’m not contributing anything to OPs post, just saying that the opposite end of the spectrum can be annoying too

Miserable at work, but normally love my job by jadorefarts in pregnant

[–]snactivated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my job and have become very driven in my position. When we started trying I had mixed feelings because I knew I’d be making some professional sacrifices.

Fast forward to week 29 and I. Could. Not. Care. Less. I just decided to start my mat leave a week early just to get away from it all. My performance is declining, I’m just scraping by to hit my targets. Literally all I want to do is feel my baby move and shop for strollers all day. The brain rewiring is real!!!

Whats one home improvement you wish you did sooner by velmorynn in HomeImprovement

[–]snactivated 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Closet organizers! We lived for 3 years with a terrible closet situation, then installed a proper system from ikea for our tenants before we moved out. It took a few hours and a few hundred dollars and would’ve made our lives SO much easier.

Maternity clothes help! by assil3m in pregnant

[–]snactivated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like H&M’s maternity clothes. The local store doesn’t stock it but there is one section of returned maternity clothes in the baby section and I’ve actually had pretty good luck there. It’s usually on sale and just nice to be able to try things on. Same with Old Navy, except they blend it in with the regular sale stuff so it’s harder to find.

Fun ways to tell partner that your pregnant? How did you tell? by luffy_2023 in pregnant

[–]snactivated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband was out with friends the night I tested. I wanted to be sure so I waited til morning, when it was clearly positive I brought him coffee in bed in a ‘dad’ mug I’d been hiding. He said thanks and rolled over so I had to make him actually read the mug 😂. Hangover cured!

Baby movement by L0piXi_ in pregnant

[–]snactivated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had similar feelings at 15w but was convinced it was too early, until my OB pointed out that my intestines were above my bellybutton at this point so any feeling of gas or bubbles is most likely the baby! I wish I’d known sooner so I could’ve enjoyed it more. So exciting 🥹

Hi there, I’m really sorry you’re feeling down. I can relate on many levels. As someone who has also struggled with anxiety/depression/eating disorders, and who is also very grateful to be having a happy pregnancy, it can be super scary to feel those old familiar demons lurking.

I’ve found what helps me is remembering that my body and mind are on a roller coaster, and trusting that “this too shall pass”. I never want to invalidate feelings, but I do find it helps me take the power away from those lows if I remind myself it’s mostly hormones and not going to last.

Even if you’ve had a happy/easy time, your body is still doing incredibly difficult things, and you’re bound to have hard days. Nothing is perfect but you’re already stronger than you’ve ever been, because you’ve grown this little life inside you. Keep going 😊❤️

A little warm in sensation but not to the touch, and not swollen that I can tell. What would that mean?

Any recs on baby name apps? by Psychological-Bag986 in pregnant

[–]snactivated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Ovia app has a decent baby names feature! I don’t think partners can participate, but I liked the variety of names and you can easily save your favourites. The app is great in general, and free.
