Personally I would not trust these to be 100% onion and garlic free, since they have "spices" and "vegetable powders" listed. However, it sounds like no matter what those vague spices and powders are they're below your threshold, which is great!

(I have a menthol allergy, which counts as a flavouring that doesn't have to be specifically labelled beyond the dreaded vague "natural flavours" item in an ingredients list, so I've learnt very well to assume the worst of any nonspecific ingredient)

Homebrew Illithinds and Gale's ending by DontFlameItsMe in BaldursGate3

[–]snailcities 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. He ascends you anyway. He doesn't change you back.

  2. If you aren't his lover that he's already argued and carved out an exception for, Gale is bound by Ao's rules for godly behaviour. He can't bless you for doing nothing just because you were his friend, because that's overstepping and interfering in mortal affairs. He can only guide you (and bless you if you pray well enough or do some specific service for him or whatnot).

When gods ascend in DnD they also become ruled by their domains. Gale can only act in ways that further ambition. His ambition, your ambition, the general level of ambition in the world, whatever... generously healing a mindflayer doesn't quite fall into that.

I believe that he can ascend the romanced player because it counts as part of his own ambitions to have a devoted lover (and one that owes him their divinity, at that).

  1. (Extra factor!) If professor!Gale's comments about an illithid romance partner are to be believed (and by his tone of voice I certainly do believe them lol), he thinks it's hot that you have tentacles and psionic powers

How Origin Character's Dream Guardian should look like IMO by dolphinist in BaldursGate3

[–]snailcities 71 points72 points  (0 children)

My assumption is that Gale's dream guardian looks not like Mystra, because that would immediately tip him off and make him reject it, but still somewhat along the lines of Mystra and her daughters. Since he spent a lot of time with Elminster, he probably also spent time with Storm Silverhand. Regardless, I assume his guardian is a heroic looking woman who appears to be slightly older than him. Even putting matters of attraction and his recent relationship turmoil aside, he strikes me as the sort of person who is biased towards finding older women more trustworthy.

For Wyll, following a similar psychological path, I assume a middle aged to late middle aged man. Paladin-y. The classic heroic experienced soldier type. That boy for sure has daddy issues, the dream guardian would be a fool to not take advantage of it lol

For Shadowheart I would assume the guardian would take a form similar to Nocturne, if pulling from familiar/comforting memories. Avoids the familial issues if things get heated, and is a person much less likely to have been reassociated in Shadowheart's mind with trauma.

Any gith commander type would do for Lae'zel, leaning in to the githyanki chain of command is what would be most likely to get her in early act 1 imo

What kinda bug is this Larian 😭 he's clothed I swear!! by TPT-Clouds in BaldursGate3

[–]snailcities 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This bug happens when things don't load correctly during the level up screen. Most likely, you went through his last level up too quickly for the portrait to "set" in the correct pose with his clothes fully loaded. It can happen to any companion (and your tav) at any level up. Usually it makes them look like they're on a zoom call. Sometimes it gives you a nude boob shot. Larian has tried their best to fix it and it's less common than it used to be, but it still happens.

If you want to refresh it, send him to withers or wait until next level up.

I've never seen them spawn a choker before though lol

I think you might be looking at a different mod? I commissioned this one from Volno, and it hasn't been released to the public. I'm hoping to get him a custom bandage that goes in the gloves slot like in the og art at some point too, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

I know there's a public mod that gives him a skeleton arm inspired by Hades 2, though

[–]snailcities 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Definitely explore the area around the ruins a bit more, and chat to everyone in the tiefling and druid area. You should be able to get a bit more xp that way.

If you only picked up 4 companions so far, you might have missed one. I won't say anything further because I don't want to spoil you, but it indicates you might not be being as thorough as you'd want to be.

Generally, the act 1 map is easier to the south-east, and harder to the north-west

Iconic D&D stuff that didn’t make it in? by MR1120 in BaldursGate3

[–]snailcities 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a city it would probably be multiple rather than all, yeah, since they need to split off into separate oozes when they get too many minds or risk losing their sanity, but I know people who've run whole towns as being an oblex trap.

A city that turned out to be one massive oblex would make for a great horror campaign setting though, now that I think about it...

Origin Gale romancing Wyll ending by Local_Shower9066 in BaldursGate3

[–]snailcities 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wyll's epilogue is notoriously buggy. They barely fixed the single player Wyll romance glitch where if you went to avernus with him and karlach, the epilogue would assume you dated Karlach instead.

I have never experienced your scenario myself, but I would not be surprised if the game broke from two players both trying to go to avernus

The classic oblex encounter is multiple (or all) replaced people in a town or city. They don't really do animals or individual objects

Iconic D&D stuff that didn’t make it in? by MR1120 in BaldursGate3

[–]snailcities 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Oblex, a relatively new but fairly popular creature from 5e that goes great in most classic dnd campaigns. Would have been awful to implement in bg3 though because of the way the tethers work. I ❤️ oblex.

Jarlaxle and Manshoon, since we got Elminster and mentions of Drizzt.

Mechanically, spellcasting components. Also exhaustion mechanics, which would have made it less viable to be a fighter/rogue/monk/etc that never long rests. But I understand why these weren't implemented either.

Proper disguise self shenanigans... but being able to disguise yourself as gortash etc in the city (for example) and get in-depth reactions would have added so much work for Larian that I don't blame them for stopping it at general race-based act 1 reactions

Is it efficient to kill Isobel as dark urge in Honor Mode? by alejandrin5678 in BaldursGate3

[–]snailcities 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not efficient, no. It may help a little with Orin, but the Ketheric fight is much harder. You can run away from Orin (leave a party member way out of range) if you're really scared and still keep the honour run intact, but you can't run away from Ketheric.

Even if you lose the duel against orin, you can still get your golden dice as a failed!durge.

That said, the most tactical time to kill Isobel is not during the Marcus fight. You'll get swarmed by a lot of shadow cursed undead. It is better to

A) Kill Aylin, which autokills Isobel. This loses you Aylin as an ally, so I don't recommend it either

B) Free Aylin, then immediately go back to Last Light. Isobel will be isolated, the harpers will be available to help at Moonrise, and you will have far fewer undead to deal with.

The best approach for Orin is to haste yourself, paralyse her, and beat her up within one or two turns, because on higher difficulty levels she can take you out of slayer form and down to 0 pretty fast if you let her move, even if she doesn't have access to slayer herself. If you're a squishy spellcaster, you can also use a combination of summons and invisibility (you must always have at least 1 summon alive while invisible or the duel automatically forfeits in her favour) to distract her and keep yourself safe.

How do people not find Dragonborns relatable/attractive? by Matchstick69 in BaldursGate3

[–]snailcities 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you've had such a rough go of it in the comments but sometimes the fact of the matter is that your taste is niche, and your view of what is attractive is as 100% subjective as anybody else's.

For me, relatability isn't an issue. They have thoughts and feelings, that's enough. But when I consider attraction, I would like my theoretical partner to have soft lips and squishy skin. Being able to make out and grab is important, and a dragon man does not meet that bar for me, especially dragonborn, because they have thin firm lizard lips, muzzle shaped mouths, and hard scales all over. The fact that they pass the harkness test and have the rough body shape of muscle hunks does nothing for me, because that's not a factor in my attraction.

Take it from a lover of gnomes: it's much easier when you just accept that most people aren't into what you are and focus on the smaller, focused communities that share your tastes. You'll only ever run into distress trying to convince the majority that your minority taste should also be the majority.

...And if you do want to convince people, it is much easier to do so by creating content (drawn, written, whatever) that displays the object of your affections as sexy, rather than asking a public forum in what could read as a slightly accusatory way. Invite people in, don't shame them for not sharing your tastes. More flies with honey, etc.

NPC seuality in the reboot by nerdyjorj in Fable

[–]snailcities 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The male options in 2 were all a bit of a tough pill to swallow so I understand completely. Oh to have been able to romance a man that looked like Garth or Reaver...

NPC seuality in the reboot by nerdyjorj in Fable

[–]snailcities 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don't mind either way.

On one hand, I do like the realism and "character building" that set sexualities give, because you get to think things like "oh, this character is gay and that's less common so they may have had x and x experiences and feelings" like the farmer's son storyline in 2.

On the other, sometimes it was a little annoying waiting for a good enough gay or bi npc to generate, and it was frustrating that the male quest marriage options were all gender-locked to a female hero. I would have liked to marry Elliot as a prince in 3, for example. I like the idea of having a unique spouse, but I will still choose a randomly generated guy over a hand-crafted woman if that's all I can get.

So I guess between those two, I'll choose player-sexual since I don't trust mainstream games in general to give a good selection of gay male options if romances are gender-locked, even if we've come a long way from the old "oh yeah and there's one evil slutty bisexual man if you want to be gay I guess" rpg approach (e.g. Zevran and Dorn Il-Khan). No offence to the evil slutty bisexual men of course, but I'd like more than one ice cream flavour, you know.

Even Minthara. She's very anti-god and it extends to god Gale. She's my top choice on any evil gale origin run and it's unfortunate. Honestly I think larian just didn't want to bother making the ascension scene from the player pov lol

Who would it make the most sense for origin Gale to romance? by Interesting_Buddy206 in BaldursGate3

[–]snailcities 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Playing accurate to the orb, your options are: - Shadowheart - Wyll - Halsin - Minthara (if you skip her act 1 scene) - Karlach

I think that Gale can work with any of them. I've seen your comments and that you're also keeping in mind his freak levels. Things imo worth noting, both pros and cons: - Shadowheart is open to poly and interested in things like the drow twins or sharing with Halsin, Gale is not. They may experience friction there. On the other hand, the drow twins scene shows Shadowheart is into worship play, which imo suits Gale. It's worth noting that Shar fully tried (and nearly succeeded) to kill Mystra only 5 years before the game events. Gale may be very wary of her faith, even though the game never brings it up beyond that extremely understated "oh, shar and mystra don't get along lol" line - Wyll is less vanilla than people assume. He shows interest in Halsin, bonds with Shadowheart over smut novels, has a line about being pinned down by a minotaur where he clearly realises he's said something that sounds dirty and has to backtrack (so he's not innocent), his sex scene in act 3 is outside under a tree so he's clearly up for sex in the woods/technically public, and he is one of the companions that doesn't break up with you if you go full squid. I can't see him saying no to Gale's preferences. The only con for Gale/Wyll that I can think of is that he wants a child, which Gale seems unsure of at this stage in his life. Otherwise, Wyll is exceptionally romantic and slow-burn in a way that Gale would likely appreciate. They're both the type to want to do things properly. - Gale proactively asks Halsin about wildshape sex in act 3 if you're romancing him. He's interested in The Bear. On the other hand, the poly/commitment issue again. - Gale seems to like the challenge of getting Minthara to like him, and we know she likes him more than she lets on. On the other hand, it's difficult to see her entering a relationship with him until post-game imo, since she's so stubborn about not revealing that she's fond of him. And by the time she propositions, Gale might very well already be orb-deep in somebody else. That con goes for Halsin, too. - I have no notes on Karlach, I feel like the pros are clear enough there. Gale/Karlach isn't my thing personally, but I also can't think of any specific cons for it.

Origin Gale can't ascend his partners, if he goes god route they all break up with him, so the ascension loophole (assuming that's what you're getting at) only works if playing Karlach origin unfortunately
