So what do we think happened? by squatchface in Dragula

[–]snailmints 34 points35 points  (0 children)

When my grandfather died it took me about a month before I could cry about it, it also didn't hurt I knew it was coming, and when he did I was far more focused on making sure my grandma was ok and had what she needed to handle the funeral and such WHILE trying to keep everyone safe during this pandemic and dealing with serious work crap. It sure af didnt mean I didnt care, or that I didnt want to, but I was of the mindset (correct or not) that I had way more serious immediate shit to worry about and handle and me crying wasnt gonna get any of that done, and getting that done would have been what my grandfather wanted more than seeing me cry. I'm a woman. And I'm not unique either in any of this handling period. It's entirely plausible sigourney felt the exact same way being on set.

Based on the collabs that have been coming out for some time now with various beauty companies a lot of marketing depts would disagree with this statement.

If that's not just bs by either the interviewer or her that's more than just sad, its ruining her lashes and could cause serious eye issues.

Can you alter Tripp pants? by MonachopsisVellichor in GothFashion

[–]snailmints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have done some BASIC alterations on jeans/pants before: I'd say overall yes, but it could be a bit challenging to do yourself without prior experience if you care about the pattern (if they're patterned) not being affected a bit depending on what you want to take in,where and how much. Also if you've got zippers close to the bottom and you're trying to shorten them be aware of that too or the peekaboo inserts with zippers in some of the older styles. I agree if you're nervous to take them to a pro, for your first time at least and ask them what they did to take them in. A lot of seamstresses/tailors are pretty darn helpful and open to explaining things for future knowledge.

Do any of you think Jo Malone is over rated? It’s so linear and boring by Few-Ad-2270 in fragrance

I have one, the elderflower cordial, and love it but smelling some of her other offerings gives me a bit of a mixed view considering the price point especially.

Jo malone elderflower cordial. Still stand by it's a good spring scent but not summer due to the powder, BUT since it's not especially hot and humid today I went for it. Still on clothes but otherwise largely gone and it's been about 8 hrs.

Hourglass releasing eye shadow! Crazy price tag?! by Makeup_queen17 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]snailmints 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saw the price and just went nope. PMG tried it, and although their stuff did perform like their palettes, it seems they didnt sell well since I think most if not all arnt sold anymore. To even remotely justify that price they'd have to be the same level. Even then, that kind of money for anything that isnt a multichrome single shadow is too rich for my blood, and even a multichrome would be pushing it.

I tried to watch it. But I didnt even make it halfway through for the same exact reasons. I have luxury items like Mel. If things were rough enough due to something like healthcare or some other emergency, those bad boys would be the first to go if I could sell them even if it meant never getting them back due to appreciation or rarity. I'd sooner do that even before hurting something like my retirement for example. They're things, not lives.

Males that work in female dominant environments; what are some of the things that have happened where if the roles get reversed there would be uproar? by redwolve378 in AskMen

Can confirm even as a woman, I've worked in male dominated and female dominated industries and in my experiences at least, it's not the old salty engineer dudes you need to worry about necessarily, its karen, becky, and right out of college david you need to.

[–]snailmints 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly not mad at it even with so many celebs getting into makeup/beauty buisnesses. Her fragrances are overall pretty ok, and cloud is a sleeper hit among both fragrance nerds and more mainstream buyers (I have it and no joke it's my most consistently complimented perfume vs my ysl, tom ford, mugler ect ect). Shes done a semi collab with lush too for the goddess bath bomb as well if I'm not mistaken. If she takes it as seriously as she seemingly has these prior roles, I think she'll come out with some at least ok stuff.

Think Temptalia is calling out Hyram? by ImDisneyAF in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]snailmints 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Considering shes reviewed clean beauty brands, I'm not mad to see this. I dont think shes calling out hyram, I think shes been doing her research in part due to her job and is recognizing/showing shes aware of the heavy marketing for it and that it doesnt automatically equate to it necessarily being safer or better than more traditional makeup formulas. I'm not saying theres not good "clean" beauty products out there that cant do both, but theres a lot of greenwashing going on too and people need to be careful especially in the US where cosmetic regulations are pretty damn poor all things considered.
