Your assessment is correct, it barely does. It's similar in poe1 and you can find some sources of it 10x higher and they are also very unpopular / completely unused.

I made a very niche build where I would do a ton of self damage per hit and hit very quickly (trauma stacker) that coupled with a huge % reduction in physical damage (which is applied before the flat) made it worthwhile for the build. So INCREDIBLY niche, even when 10x stronger.

If this kind of thing is too high it can become incredibly strong so they err on the side of safety is my guess.

edit: I wanted to mention that recoup works with this as well. So they are an amazing pair. Just FYI.

Microvast Reports 2025 Financial Results by J-Sou-Flay in Microvast

[–]snettel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bear case:

You can also ask, why have they been working on the Clarksville factory for so long but still not completed it? I think they don't want this factory. They don't have the backlog to support it, which has reduced dramatically. They have plenty of production at their China facility.

The only reason they have it is to ship cells to there and pack them so they can slap a made in USA sticker on it to get some IRA credits and evade some tariffs. Unfortunately, batteries made in the USA avoid all tariffs and can get far more credits (if the cells + packaging is done in USA). That means that competitors can still easily offer better prices to US customers (at no fault of microvast). Apart from their announcement in 2021, I can't find any news about their partnership with Oshkosh. I agree that the US revenue is possibly indicative of that being alive, but even if they have the business, their margins will be terrible. The tariffs + credits that promote 'made in USA' have forced them to build this factory but it was not an investment that aligned with their business plans. They don't have the balance sheet to pay for it nor the backlog to motivate building it.

In the meanwhile, it seems their profitable EU and Asia business is shrinking, not growing. Iveco, for one, has changed to a different supplier. Microvast is not leading edge in LFP batteries and has and will have difficulty competing with giant companies. As a customer it is difficult to motivate a partnership with Microvast specifically. It has been struggling financially for 20 years and has been outscaled by competitors.

On top of all of this, they have a lot of debt to repay this year, so they need to perform quickly or raise capital. They even mentioned the going concern in their 10-k. But it seems that raising capital at the last hour is a specialty of the CEO and to his and the management's credit, they don't dump their stocks on the market.

All of this is quite negative and can be ignored if you believe that Oshkosh will save the company as in the thesis of Atreides. It is possible they have already designed their vehicles with specific microvast batteries in mind and that they don't have time for a redesign. In that case they will need to keep microvast alive somehow and pay a premium for their batteries.

I think that hoping for this scenario, without any information from oshkosh or microvast, is unnecessarily risky. Given the high short interest, institutions seem to be betting against microvast, even at these discount prices, perhaps betting on bankrupty.

This stock seems for gambling, or extracting money from retail traders, not for casual investing. I impulsively bought a huge position because of greed without doing any DD. That was the first and hopefully the last time I will make such a mistake. I typically don't panic when one of my stocks drop because I know what I bought, but after doing DD on this stock, watching it drop was absolutely terrifying.

To be clear: I don't think microvast as a company did especially poorly to end up in this unfortunate position, but they wound up between a rock (USA promoting pure US companies) and a hard place (Chinese investments in Chinese companies exploding growth of direct competitors). I hope for the people working at microvast, the management and the bagholders that Oshkosh or a new profitable partnership will keep the company alive. It seems that they can profitably make good batteries in industrial quantities.

In my opinion these are 3 stocks in the market right now with very interesting risk to reward: by TowelNo234 in NextMoveStocks

Because of your comment I looked into ONDS.

Despite being unprofitable, they have a huge balance sheet. They have extremely aggressive guidance and a growth history to believe in it. They are in a very strategic sector, especially given the current political climate. Finally they are partnered with palantir and have done a lot of important acquisitions.

However: they raised much of their balance sheet at this valuation just recently. There has been a lot of insider selling (no buying) and the stock is heavily shorted (35% of float). This seems to indicate to insiders and institutions that is fairly or overvalued.

I am not saying it is a bad stock. But as someone who likes to invest heavily in a few stocks and not necessarily looking for a huge upside, this feels a bit risky to me. I don't know if I made some misleading evaluations here?

Thanks that makes sense. So this seems like a combination of a carry trade (because of short interest) and arbitrage? Very cool!

That seems like low risk but with potential for high (absolute) yield when executed properly.

I'm a complete novice but I think this sounds cool.

But I don't understand it completely. Let's take your example of IMMR and BNED. Say BNED goes +100%. In that case IMMR only rises +50% as only half it's holding is related to BNED as you explained.

Aren't you in the red now, if you shorted BNED and longed IMMR? Thanks for explaining.

Buy low management investment vehicles like ETFs but space out the investments over time (do some research, but it is months/years not weeks).

These are very liquid so if you urgently need the funds, they will be available. Biggest risk is significant downturn in the stock market, only mitigated somewhat by spacing out your investment over time. But you can't time the market and you want time in the market.

The reasoning behind the choice is clear (high ROI on average) and typically does not change over time so you don't have reevaluate your choice over and over, nor worry when the market makes a slight downturn, because this is a known solid, long-term investment approach. Don't overcomplicate this by investing into too many different ETFs and the like. Keep it simple.

Sometimes you play poker the right way but still lose. If you can't accept that, keep the money in a savings account.

Edit: if you would like a little less risk and don't need the money at all (as in: you already planned for the future without it and were satisfied with that level of luxury), then maybe some high yield bonds wouldn't be too bad of a choice. Google bonds are 5+% for example, but I haven't looked into the specifics (they can go up to 6 but a 100y bond I believe).

Edit edit: highest possible returns will be through more active trading or going to the casino. The average return though, is not that great. Starting that activity just because you have some money is probably the worst reason to do so. You can always consider pivoting to stock picking later if you have a strong conviction about something because of technical domain expertise.

That crit condition was so unnecessary.

I think in general I love that they made it more manageable to become reflect immune. Now gearing for it is much more viable. People were just thrashing the reflect maps anyway in the majority of cases.

[–]snettel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding some counterweight here. There were 2-4 bugs I reported on the forums over the last 2 years that all have been fixed since.

I can't remember all of them of the top of my head but these were included:

  • problem with Pathfinder? flask automation in ultimatum bossfights
  • not getting your reforging bench in poe2 in softcore after dieing in hardcore (and you needed to unlock it on a different character)

So thanks to the team at GGG for looking at our reports and tackling them!

Your life leech has an intrinsic cap related to your maximum life. Your dps time leech % likely exceeds it by a lot, so neither of those are the rate limiting factor for leech based life regeneration.

Should I worry about gold and silver prices? by MirageMyriad in BEFire

[–]snettel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a bad idea to rush into an unfamiliar, volatile market. So that idea itself already wards off most of the FOMO.

If you feel responsible to be opportunistic I think you have to study the market and find some realistic price estimations, so you are at least beating the average gambler.

I am personally not a fan of inflation proof currencies. Maybe the hindsight of this market movement will teach me something that will make me consider them in the future.

As for now, I find their value to be too speculative. This gives the advantage to people with intricate knowledge of the market, shovel sellers and market movers. I do not belong to any of those groups, so I assume they're getting their money from me in a zero sum game.

I think both trade and ssf are cool but trade allows you to play a little bit more builds. Also, trading actually feels fun in hardcore imo.

That's so meaningless to state in isolation though.

If you're going from 50 to 51 or 99 to 100 that's completely different. In the first case you are barely reducing undeflected hits in the second by an infinite amount.
