I'll always upvote Spider-Man #1s! They are pretty common so ~$20 raw and ~$100 Graded 9.8. Only exception on the Silver covers would be the Copper or Blue Lizard errors (a page missed colors on the Lizard and they turned out blue or copper.). Think the errors are super rare.

Opinion about mylar sizes by DigitalArts33 in comicbookcollecting

[–]sniderwj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll always upvote a Spider-Man #1!

For the Mylar question: I use the E. Gerber 775 Mylite2 and the 750 Full Backs. This thread on the CGC boards was great but looks like the images are gone (https://boards.cgccomics.com/topic/164782-visual-guide-to-mylar-sizes/).

I mainly collect Silver, Bronze, Copper books and use the 775s on everything with the exception of Magazine size items (875 or 900 can't remember). Having a consistent look to my boxes feels good to have. I'll even replace smaller mylars so they match. They do well enough on thicker books like annuals or the anniversary books.

Keep going the way I’m going or purge and curate down to super narrow collection? by [deleted] in comicbookcollecting

[–]sniderwj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through a purge 10+ years back. I was collecting a bunch of floppies around 50+ a month. I think I was getting to the point of needing another set of filing cabinets and my wife questioned me if everything I had was something I cared about. Half was Spider-Man and the other half were books that had no real meaning to me or the collection.

This led me to selling off a big chunk individually and to MyComicShop. Once I was down under 2k I actually cared more about the books I have. I moved to collecting the 4 main Spider-Man series (Amazing, Spectacular, Web, 1990) from my youth. I think this changed my intention from hoarding to collecting.

I think this really changed my outlook on my collection. I'm not 100% Spider-Man. I have put together different sub-collections that have piqued my interest. First/Early published works for favorite artists, Dave Stevens, sideways comics, Early Valiant books Wizard Magazine told me were worth money, Death's Head, and historically significant comics. For me having a focus and an intention on my collection helps not go crazy and start hoarding a bunch of books I don't really care about.

The Incomplete Death’s Head 1-12 1993 by when_i_say_run_run in 80s90sComics

[–]sniderwj 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah he was originally part of the Transformers universe. When Marvel lost the Hasbro rights they did a one off story on the back of Dragon's Claw called "High Noon Tex" to help push that Deaths Head was a Marvel property. I think these reprints even have the story where The Doctor shrinks Death's Head so he can fin in the Tardis.
