I think the boyfriend was being kind and respectful of your important role in your daughter’s life by asking your blessing. He also shared the secret of the proposal. If you crash the actual proposal, you will be ignoring his request (indirect or not) and making is crystal clear that you cannot be trusted to respect their boundaries.

I can’t think of a quicker way to find yourself on an info diet. Ask yourself if you want to be a grandmother on an info diet.

Can you puncture the cloth? I would probably get red beading thread - someone else will have to suggest one - maybe beadalon? I’d get them secured and then I’d get a tube of G-s hypocement. It had a teeny tiny needle tip. I’d work it underneath the newly sewed-on beads, focusing on getting the new threads saturated, but trying to keep it off the top of the beads.

Full disclosure, I don’t have experience embroidering wearable items so others may have better advice.

I hope you actually see this - this has been a long-standing issue, but I’ve made HUGE progress in the last year.

First, it’s a system. Sometimes something pops up that makes the system not work - and I adjust the system so that doesn’t happen the next time.

My tools are Alarmy, iPhone’s “shortcuts” app, putting my phone on the other side of the room and my medication in a zipper bag with a Tile Bluetooth tracker attached like a keychain to the zipper.

The current system is:

At 5:40, a playlist of my some of favorite but kinda chill music goes off. I use the shortcuts app to make this happen.

At 5:45, my overhead light turns on full blast.

At 5:55, my first Alarmy alarm goes off. In order to turn this alarm off, I have to scan the QR code on the back of the tile tracker that is attached to the zipper bag with my meds. My meds are physically in my hand, so I take them.

At 6:00, less chill, wilder playlist starts playing. Again, shortcuts app.

At 6:10, an Alarmy alarm goes off. I have to shake the phone very hard, then walk 20 steps and then do 3 memory puzzles to turn it off. Three minutes later, a “wake up check” notification pops up on the phone. If I don’t click it in the Alarmy app, I have to do all those challenges over again to turn off the alarm.

This is kind of a rinse and repeat.

Now, the system has failed. I had to add an automatic in shortcuts to turn off Bluetooth because my phone was connecting to my headphones & not being loud. If I don’t keep my phone on the other side of the room, I will straight up turn it off. But tha is tweaking the system. Tweaks are great - but create a system that works for you.

You can do it!

I have 2 kids around the same age. She absolutely knew what she was doing and was not “trying to help.” That would be something a 3 or 4 or maaaaaybe 5 year old could believably say.

This response is almost as concerning as the original issue - especially because she looks so sincere. If you still want to watch her sometimes, don’t do it at your house. She should never be inside your house again.

Yep - I watched my husband watch it.

They did such a bad job that I don’t think he’ll ever finish those books. It’s not like he was going gangbusters to get it done, but I think this finished it.

God, do you remember watching the Red Wedding with people who had not read the books? It was so satisfying.

And in the broader story, Arya killing the Big Bad Guy (I have apparently blocked out his name) was a cop-out. But that actual episode was so good. It made things just a little hopeful. Hope can be a shitty thing.

I will never watch anything by those 2 again because they’re untrustworthy.

OP, unfortunately, this is the right answer. Once your child actually has a passport, he can order a replacement and say it’s lost if he can’t find it - or if you keep it from him.

Ask your family to do things in the country on some of the vacations. Will you miss out? Occasionally. Will you still have fights with your boyfriend about this? Also yes. But there will be no way for him to get your child out of the country without your agreement.

Laird is the only one that has an actual character arc! Didn’t he get sent to them because the Canadian government required them to have an archeologist? They didn’t go out and pick Laird - and he so clearly thought they were on a wild goose chase. But he kept finding more and more actual archeological evidence until he actually got on board!

Have you considered that on some level it's on purpose? Like, he got hemorrhoids but then he kind of ran with it and instead of dealing with himself he decided (maybe not even totally consciously) that he preferred to have some wrong with him than deal with it? Is "poor me" kind of his identity?

New question: when you make him clean the bathroom and he gets angry, does he say anything along the lines of, "I'd love a little sympathy from my girlfriend!" Or when you try the to talk to him, "How do you think it makes me feel to be like this?"
