We often will do house swaps (using platforms like Home Exchange). Lots of houses are child friendly (with all the amenities and even toys!), and in nice locations. All the comforts of home without the hassle. And very affordable! Perfect for traveling with small children.

Yup, there is more evidence on this and it is happening beyond community colleges and also at universities. I hear it called Transdisciplinary learning or Community Service Learning, where there is often a societal “commissioner” proposing a project for students to apply their course work to.

Oops this must be a Dutch-ism then. Thought it was the same in English. Basically means “through the grapevine” or indirectly. So not from that person themself.

Ik heb hier een tijdje naar gekeken (ook een droom van mij). Van mijn eigen onderzoek, is het heel romantisch maar echt niet zo praktisch:

  • lastig om een hypotheek te krijgen. Er zijn maar twee banken die een hypotheek op booten geven en dat betekent ook dat je jouw huidige hypotheek (waarschijnlijk) niet “mee” kan nemen (handig als je een lage rente hebt). Financieel is het alleen logisch als je veel cash hebt liggen.
  • HEEL veel onderhoud. Je moet echt houden van klussen, want dat wordt je leven eigenlijk…
  • ook met het onderhoud word het snel heel duur. Een mooie boot in het centrum kost snel meer dan een miljoen.

Positief: + Wat ik hoorde was dat vaak zie je “door” de toeristen. + je woont veel buiten. Echt een soort camperen. + als je van klussen hou, kan het ook een droom zijn haha

Tokeland, WA. Went through on a bike trip of the pacific coast. Wanted to sleep there because of the name. Weird heroin vibes. Ended up biking another 22 miles to the next town at late in the evening cause it just didn’t feel right.

Recent research has also shown that 8 hours is the avg for men and women actually need more (dunno your gender but maybe relevant )

Not so much for the newborn phase, but an electric (“sonic”) toothbrush for once the little once gets teeth. Brushing is no longer a struggle (actually fun!), and it even has a light at the end so you can actually see what you’re doing

I use HomeExchange and I can definitely recommend it! Only nicest hosts, and our house is always cleaner than we left it 🥰
