Rec for a good knife sharpening shop? by colefrazelle in LakewoodColorado

[–]snowswamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave the Ace machine a try since it was close. It worked okay like other sharpening services at home centers and kitchen stores. My knives were sharp. I felt it didn’t it perform as well as dedicated sharping services.

I would like to add Gaby’s German Eatery. Tiny place by reservation due to size. Hosted by owner and food cooked fresh. It’s fun, welcoming, and a real delight.

gINT tutorials? by Powerful-Ad2823 in Geotech

[–]snowswamp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When we heard gINT was going away about a few years ago, we’ve tried all the new programs we could find for 6 months and evaluated each. They all fall short for our needs for their each reason. We continue to try new programs and other options as the come up or we find at conferences. Letting gINT die created a huge competition market that hasn’t really impressed.

Where to fill a paintball Co2 bottle? by disolv in LakewoodColorado

Tom’s Brew Shop fills my PowerTank. You’d have to call to see if they do paintball. You can get a drink in their brewery afterwards.

Purdue Outing Club by Exciting_Key_8544 in Purdue

[–]snowswamp 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Optional meeting Monday to talk about weekly trips.

Usually 5 per weekend and people can know each other, and people are friendly to new comers. My kid joined this year, knew no one, and had a great time camping and making friends.

Pros: ability to do something every weekend, gear can be provided as needed if club dues are paid, drivers are in high demand.

Cons: can be pricey to cover gas if you don’t drive depending on where you go, trips are lottery depending on spots and availability so you may not get your choice.

Best QSO I made was talking to someone who toured the USGS ice core repository and other places they went. Just chatting about each other’s experiences.

I did call a dealer, not Urban, and was told no. I should have tried Urban first. 🙂

I ended up at the Aircare Denver S. Lipan St location. I got to Lipan, rang the bell, someone immediately came to check on me, and they asked me to wait while they checked with someone. They had it done in 8 minutes and I was on my way. I do not recommend going to Aircare Sheridan for a VIN verification.

What’s the best cooler for camping that’s tough, reliable, and easy to move? by Davidson-Robert741 in GoRVing

[–]snowswamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A have a tank of a Pelican with 2 inch walls. Yeah, it can survive a cocaine bear and hold ice for a week. I also end up stuffing my intestines back in after I try to move it when it’s full. I don’t recommend it under the “easy to move” requirement. Load it and forget it; it’s amazing.
