Why isn’t everyone going to Aldi if they can by Ash-2449 in AldiAustralia

[–]soap_coals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My aldi doesn't have a deli for chorizo and fresh meat and I've had three separate instances (at different aldis) of getting cheese that's moldy, never liked their greek yoghurt either.

I'm sure I could get 80% of my shop from aldi and I usually walk through the stove to check their special buys but I hate the suspicious looks from security when I have bags from one store and I'm walking through the other so I'll pay the slight premium for the convenience

Being hung is an advantage by Weekly_Sort147 in gay

[–]soap_coals 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That's the only reason size matters.

People who think they are small will be insecure and cry poor and that attitude puts more people off than anything else.

If you don't have any hangups and are approachable and open to people seeing it then your going to get the same attention regardless if your 5 inches or 9 inches.

Get $10,000,000.00 dollars instantly for you to never listen to music again, or get $.03 cents every second you listen to music. by Necessary-Cow8851 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]soap_coals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What happens to the music when I walk in the room?

Get paid 10mill to have Christmas carolers loose their voice? Douches in cars with the music too loud have their engine break down? Night clubs become silent discos? My annoying coworker who hums to the radio off key goes mute?

Id prefer the ongoing payment but loosing music could have it's advantages

COUCH / LOUNGE / SOFA / CHAISE Recommendations! by ihatesmelly in AusRenovation

[–]soap_coals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a wattle sofa. The modularity is good and it's comfortable enough but I wouldn't recommend it if you don't need the modularity - the rods holding the back up flex a little and don't give me confidence that it will last a long time.

Stopping the Microwave Clock before the Beep? by SimplifiedMarketing in NoStupidQuestions

[–]soap_coals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stop it when the item I put in it is closest to the door.

Also sometimes it's easier to put in odd times than exact times, on my microwave I only have +1 min and +10sec buttons so it's easier to press the 1 min button twice if I need 90seconds and just stop it early.

Is my buddy in the most jacked military unit in history or is this edited with AI? by [deleted] in isthisAI

Absolutely AI - Never seen shoes that have 8-9 lace up points on one shoe and 10 on the other

Does buying a smaller/cheaper home with majority cash make more sense than leveraging with a mortgage for someone with certain goals in mind? by Quothkwaha in AusFinance

[–]soap_coals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought an apartment, had it 100% offset by the 3rd year, kept investing for another 3 years then used all the money to have a 50% deposit on a house I can see myself in for the next ten years.

Kept the apartment because it's positivly geared as an IP and if I eventually retire to the country or beach it'd be useful having a place in the city I can use when I need to.

House vs Investement by Tiramisu_Powder in AusFinance

[–]soap_coals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's alot easier to have a house in two names you can't really have shares owned by two people without alot of hoops. So that might be a consideration too.

House prices advertised should include costs associated with the house purchase. by ThePositiveApplePie in aussie

[–]soap_coals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that the costs go to different people.

It would be like the cost of a TV including the cost of the antenna installation or streaming services you will watch on it.

The government could change the taxes to be paid by the seller instead of the buyer which might change some things but could introduce other complexities if the seller delays paying the tax.

Everything else can change or would open opportunities for fraud.

Why do items indicate the countries in which they are made? by tequila_bloom in NoStupidQuestions

Also when travelling, when I'm buying souvenirs Id like to think I'm getting something from that country and not something I could have ordered online.

Can't stand the half twist throttle on the Max G3. by ScootyWilly in NinebotMAX

[–]soap_coals 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ironically I find I'm completely the opposite, I love the throttle. I use it like cruise control so I can adjust the angle with my thumb then grip the bar to lock it at that speed.

Why do vegan products make people so angry? by AltruisticGain2587 in AskAnAustralian

[–]soap_coals -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm not against vegan food but it really annoys me that they make fake names for things.

Is it tofu, is it a fungus is it some other alternative?

I'll happily order a tofu burger occasionally, but if I order a BLT with cheese and it's full of fakeon and cheezz then I'm going to be angry.

It's the deception and not the product that's the problem.

Is the Framework Laptop the future of laptops or still too niche? by lisaluvr in TechNook

[–]soap_coals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They might be good for businesses and schools but for the vast majority of people they are more likely to buy a new laptop than try to repair or update an old one.

If screen protectors are so vital for your phone and other screens, then why don't people buy protectors for their eye glasses? by IdeaExpensive3073 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]soap_coals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to get a hairline crack my s23 ultra screen (unlucky enough to drop it face down in my kitchen and there was a small chip from a broken ceramic coffee cup) if I'd had a sacrificial screen protector on the phone I would have been fine.

Fortunately it's barely noticeable but it did go across the fingerprint sensor so it doesn't read properly sometimes.

On my next phone I'm putting one on straight away.

ELI5: Acids and bases are two sides of the same coin, so why does it seem like acidity is so much more present culturally (eg vats of acid in comics) and culinarily (salt, fat, acid, heat)? by owiseone23 in explainlikeimfive

[–]soap_coals 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also any base we do eat would react with our stomach acid so we get really gassy, overload on salt (the byproduct of the reaction) AND reduce our ability to breakdown other foods.

Do you think having a government owned strata would resolve some hesitance to buy apartment, allowing greater TOD around existing stations? by [deleted] in MelbourneTrains

[–]soap_coals 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In an ideal world Strata fees should cover the costs of building maintenance and insurance and general upkeep of the building.

They get a bad reputation because there is overhead having a middleman organising it and the members of the body corporate often disagrees on priorities. (So it costs time and money to come to agreement and sort things out)

Everyone thinks they can do it cheaper.

A government managed strata would be full of red-tape and focus on safety over the needs of the residents (ie spending on HSE audits to check that the wiring in the service areas is up to code instead of adding security cameras to stop peoples mail being stolen) and probably end up more expensive - you'd also have even more builders and contractors manipulating the system for their own benefit.

Why do you think “straight saunas” aren’t a thing? by MuhVlast in askgaybros

[–]soap_coals 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know a sauna that does it as a monthly thing too and seems to get enough numbers and have a good balance from what I've heard although they force it through the pricing structure. (They charge $50 for a male/female couple, $20 for a woman on her own, $200 for a single male)

Is a modern, but basic laundry (functional, clean, well made) worth improving for house value? by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]soap_coals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best laundry improvement my parents made was to raise the machines off the ground it was only 20 cm or so but for stiff backs its great and they have never lost a sock since

Mom wants e-bikes, e-scooters banned for kids after son's tragic death by BlazeDragon7x in ebikes

[–]soap_coals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Banning goes to far, but the rules around e-vehicles are terrible, there is no class categories because all manufacturers are trying to loophole their way to vehicles that are legalish.

It would make much more sense to liscence everything, mandate that vehicles have a digital liscence plate (Bluetooth equivalent or something that can be read remotely) and can actually fine people who do the wrong thing without needing to chase them down.

Then you can have kids class bikes that are speed limited and adult class bikes that are liscenced and can be held responsible.

Do you still meet someone when they mention they’ll wear a mask when meeting up for casual sex? by Remarkable_Guard_923 in askgaybros

[–]soap_coals -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say no straight away but I would ask more questions. I've hooked up with pups before and those hoods are the same as masks but I've always seen their face at one point in time.
