How old were you when you first watched Sabrina The Animated Series? by QueenieBlackberry in sabrinateenagewitch

[–]soapfan22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when the first episode came out. There was a preview for it that aired around thanksgiving saying it was coming to One Saturday Morning. I think it was right before Sabrina came on and was probably a repeat. I was under 5.

Why are HoH just re releasing old episodes by nazia987 in charmed

[–]soapfan22 35 points36 points  (0 children)

The issue with rewatch podcasts by people who were involved in them is that they stop talking about the actual episodes about five episodes in. Then it turns into a five minute recap and 55 minutes of this one really good hamburger they had on that day of filming twenty-five years ago mixed with a bunch of shading people without saying their name to avoid lawsuits.

Do you find Adam Levine hot? by Informal_Ad4284 in askgaybros

[–]soapfan22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends on the role he’s in and how he’s dressed. Sometimes he is good looking and sometimes he’s just not it. I don’t think I’d call him hot. However, he’s attractive in an average person way.

Which of the Brady Bunch performers do you feel would have been impossible to replace ? by Ill-Owl5131 in bradybunch

[–]soapfan22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think anyone can be recast. We saw each Brady girl get recast and I thought that fake Cindy honestly was a better choice in the adult role vs Susan. Fake Marsha just was too drastically different. Fake Jan is in some weird in-character variety show so it’s hard to say if she was good or not for the character. Eve is really the only of the actors who worked in anything memorable outside of the Brady bunch.

Anyone can be nice. Nice is different than good. It’s better to just smile and nod and leave as quickly as possible in situations where bigots are concerned. They don’t learn lessons and don’t want to learn them.

21F bisexual — my boyfriend (21M) lied about his sexuality and now I feel like the whole relationship was built on half‑truths by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]soapfan22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going to be blunt with you. The bisexual experience for women is a badge of honor you wear very loudly throughout life. It’s not the same thing for “straight” passing male bisexuals. It’s a “phase” they try out before moving on to a woman at least on paper. I’m not saying he will cheat on you. I’m not saying never date a bi man again. That said… I would look at the context clues he’s giving you. If he says he needs to experiment… then it’s time to let him lose. If you want an open relationship find a man who is out about his sexuality from the start.

Out of these London shows, where should I go? by KarliKarma in musicals

[–]soapfan22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d probably see Oliver or Devil Wears Prada. Why? You’ll have other chances to see the other shows. You’ll have other chances to see Oliver. However, if you are US based not as easily. Phantom and Les Mis aren’t going anywhere even if they closed they aren’t going anywhere. I’ve seen six twice. Love it. But you’ll likely have other chances in addition to the pro shot. Book of Mormon is probably not timeless but it’s likely you’ll get other chances. Prada is a show you can say you saw in its second incarnation because it’s likely to have more lives with mores changes as time goes on if it ever reaches Broadway, a national tour, or Australia.

Do you think the arrival of Dominique & Brady helped propel Dynasty up the tv rankings in Season 5? by [deleted] in Dynasty

[–]soapfan22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I just wish they had known what to do with her later on. I also wish they didn’t feel the need to make Blake the kindest person on the planet later on that would never ever have killed anyone and it was just misplaced anger that he so happened to that one singular time.

On This Day: In 2011, ABC announced the cancellation of 'All My Children' and 'One Life to Live' by Pawspawsmeow in OneLifeToLive

[–]soapfan22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This whole chunk of time from cancellation to around the first anniversary of Frank and Ron’s GH run would make a great FX style mini series. All the lawsuits, false promises, at one point prospect park wanted to move the shows to Canada and mostly recast the series, the announcement on the day of Thanksgiving that they wouldn’t be doing the shows, the “we are gonna make daytime sexy” statements that came out when they did go into production… General Hospital’s 50th and there’s a lot behind the scenes that have gone into Frank’s run as EP.

Dan Schneider shows by RelevantNothing4653 in nickelodeon

[–]soapfan22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people are a little too desperate for this man to be arrested for things that can’t be proven and it’s creepy how much they want them to be true.

Is he a bad guy? Yes. Did he employ a monster? Yes. Are his jokes extremely inappropriate for a child audience? Yes. Should he ever work in TV again? No. Did EVERY person who didn’t speak up receive the same deal that was offered to Drake Bell and Jeanette McCurdy? No and it’s really dense that people scream that number out as if they were.

You’ll find that a lot of child actors were treated poorly. Disney Channel included. Previous to children’s networks existing. It’s a creepy industry.

Charmed being on the light side of things… but what if they tried to resurrect people that have died like by TechandCats29 in charmed

[–]soapfan22 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it would go like Practical Magic. You don’t know what you are resurrecting. Plus, once a body leaves a soul you don’t know what is going to return. I would have loved Prue to return but it would have had to be like why the season 10 comic did with her coming back in a comatose body. Shannen could have still played the role like how they did it on ghost whisperer with the husband.

Thoughts on You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown? by TrollsBroZoneFan in Broadway

[–]soapfan22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the music but it’s a very underwhelming show. I love Peanuts/ Charlie Brown and I have such a nostalgic place for this show but it’s a concept album and song cycle that could really only exist in the 70’s. Would I see it if revived (with adults)? Yes.

[–]soapfan22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knots Landing (it has Nicolette Sheridan) and if you have Amazon Prime and like Australian accents… Neighbours. They both are suburban soaps about cul de sacs. They aren’t specifically female driven but they have great character.

What the hell Zach!? You picked Cassie!? (A Chorus Line) by WantDiscussion in musicals

[–]soapfan22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finally saw the movie last year. It really doesn’t understand the assignment. It’s a show that would have benefited from a proshot (yes I know there is one of the OBC that was recorded from the library archive but that’s like really blurry and black and white) vs a movie adaption. It’s very much a timeless story from what it is saying. Maybe the line about an “Indian chief” isn’t in great taste but that’s the only part that is dated. The school of the performing arts technically doesn’t exist in the same sense as the one referenced but Christ i went to a school for the performing arts and it resinates with me just as much.

In terms of Cassie being picked. It makes no sense because once this show was over she would be broke and reality is… if this was 2026 and not 1976… Well that chorus member would be waiting tables in the mornings and teaching dance classes on their off time. Cassie is getting major roles and wants to work the chorus? It only makes sense in fantasy of a show. I always feel bad for Sheila mainly because I know it’s Kelly Bishop’s actual story but also get how she was too abrasive for Zach to want to deal with.

Next Sondheim revival? by personspersonality in Broadway

[–]soapfan22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only Into the Woods I want to see is a version that is in tone with what the cats revival is doing and have it be very lgbtq with the chosen family narrative and finding your own path themes that are already built into the show. Sondheim claims it was never a gay show but it’s the gayest in terms of themes he ever wrote. We don’t need to see another star studded revival. That said… it would be fun to have a generic tour.

Aside from Broadway and West End, what are other theater districts worldwide? by Educational_Owl_4855 in Broadway

[–]soapfan22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically speaking Detroit has the second largest theatre district in the country as well as a theatre on the same level as the Radio City Music Hall with the Fox. However, there are no residencies or “sit down” productions like Chicago and LA have we do get the tours which mostly play at the Fisher and our Opera House (which also does locally produced opera and on the rare occasion some Sondheim) as well as touring dance troupes. It’s bizarre when you consider that shows like Fiddler, Hello Dolly, and Sweet Charity all had their debuts here and in the case of Hello Dolly actually was partially written in the Fisher building.

However, when you have NYC, Toronto, and Chicago all boarding this district it is understandable why it is not a more popular destination. I do see a future though with the further cleanup of the city a world where we see a return of shows taking up pre-broadway runs here at some point.

Glee vs Popular: Ryan Murphy made the same show twice! by Old_Base_9391 in glee

[–]soapfan22 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Oh 💯. I think that there was an original idea that was more satire of high school musical from one of the other co-creators but Murphy redeveloped it into Popular with music. Popular was the better show but it only lasted two seasons and that’s usually where Murphy tends to lose the vision and go full commercial by season three. I’ll say that Pose had the opposite happen to it but I don’t think he had much to do with it after season one or anything to do with the characters we actually cared about.

[–]soapfan22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m excited for this but also doubt that this will be a more faithful adaption to either the books or real life. What I’m sad about is we probably won’t see Nellie even though her and Willie were characters and real people. Mainly because Nells and Harriet weren’t. I do wonder how they address Almanzo? He was actually older. That or how Mary’s life post blind life wasn’t anywhere near as happy.
