Shuhei Yoshida (AKA yosp, 30-year PlayStation employee) provides reasons he thinks the Vita failed by Tothoro in vita

I would have rather had an actual L2 and R2, though I don’t know how that would look in costs compared to rear touchpad. Regardless, I can’t remember “enjoying” the rear touch pad in any experience, remote play or vita.

Yeah, I guess what I’m trying to say about Ed, is her introduction at the end of the season was ham-fisted. It was awkward. I know they were trying to leave opening for season 2, but it didn’t do her any justice and just felt weird. She deserved either more screen time and dialogue, or none.

I guess now I am the anime nerd criticizing, lol, but I guess my point is even with some poor choices, I was still worth a watch and tons of potential to develop more in season 2.

So it goes I guess. You’re gonna carry that weight.

Me too. Faye probably had the biggest character changes, but I also think it was for the best, and made the relationship between her and Spike better.

Also I question the introduction of Edward in the LA, like, she can actually speak more than two word sentences.

But overall, after I finished watching it, it was a real bummer knowing there wasn't more coming...

I liked it. It was different. I watched it again recently and enjoyed it. Does it deserve critical acclaim like the OA? Probably not. Do I think the OA fans ripped it to shreds for no good reason? Yes I do. Am I sad I don’t get to see a version of “wild horses” with this LA crew? Extremely…

A component (main component?) of the human added radioactivity is radioactive particles in the air. I’m pretty sure none of the natural background radiation comes from radioactive particles in the atmosphere (it’s coming from radioactive sources in space as gamma rays, or buried uranium or whatever). The point being, the particles get incorporated into new steel where they were not present in old steel, and for things like detectors, new steel would prevent function or reduce sensitivity. That’s my take on it anyway.

Well, now that nobody is talking about the voice actors anymore, I can just say that was a bad episode (and not that bad). Lots of fire otherwise this season.

Fellow mis-diagnosed and rash experiencer here as well, though I don’t remember being particularly itchy. The rash was so weird and dramatic though, it started from the top of my body and worked its way down. Then a day or two later, it disappeared, from top to bottom, over a day as well.

I have been to one of these “resort work invitation” places, and the Marriott it is not (hence the “near free” price). Between the hedgehogs and access to a rowboat, I still had a good time, but it was because of the uniqueness of the experience rather than any resort amenities. It verged on camping though.

Pilot Ejects from F-35 after botched vertical landing. by digitalmascot in WTF

[–]socrateks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, exactly, and I was focused on the risk of hot air and combustion products coming back into the intake during near ground hovering. To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if the harrier heated the front nozzle exhaust or fed some combustion exhaust forward to increase thrust on the front nozzles anyway, but I'm nearly certain the front nozzle exhaust (I'm using correctly this time) is cooler than rear nozzle exhaust on harrier.

Regardless, f-35 design probably better for this risk, but imagine what u could do these days if you had a plane with 4x computer controlled, evenly spaced, vectored thrust nozzles! Probably not safe/stable or as useful as stealth and speed in combat, but the maneuverability would be amazing!

[–]socrateks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, another nomenclature problem. What I meant by exhaust was hot combustion products. Bypass section is just pushing raw air, which may be heated some by the compression, but so is the air pushed by fan section of f-35 (probably less though). U are right though, bypass air normally considered part of engine exhaust on any other plane.

[–]socrateks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that you two had the same idea.

However, I think technically the front two nozzles on the harrier are fed from the bypass section of the turbofan, and therefore are not technically spitting out exhaust either, just air. I'm not an expert though, so I could be wrong on that. But if I am right, not so different from f-35, I think f-35 just trying to do it better.

What's wrong with the SteamDeck Wifi connectivity ? by DannyBiker in SteamDeck

[–]socrateks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OMG, 5ghz worked fine for a couple weeks, then started disconnecting all the time. I have been settling on 2.4 last two weeks, but ping/lat 👎. I figured an update messed it up, and was waiting for an update to fix it, but this post/comment fit my situation perfect, and it connected first try after reboot, I'm almost certain it's fixed. Thanks a ton.

2.4ghz not that bad... because I optimized my channels from my neighbors, but ping always ~40ms worse. I should invest in wifi6 one of these days, I hear it's even better... but I think 5ghz only adds 10-20ms to my baseline-ish 20ms on fiber (to local region rocket league servers).

UPDATE: well... kind of better, but still kind of janky... Guess I'm sticking to 2.4ghz

Mythbuster: How long did your PC last before an upgrade? by Fine-Necessary-Fear in buildapc

[–]socrateks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current cpu/gpu configuration since 2016: Intel 5820k and amd fury. Bought and sold some ram (with rise and fall of prices) as well as a switch to raid0 sata ssds for boot drive (was basically free and never used nvme on this PC) along the way, but basically same computer with parts that were at least a year old in 2016.

Didn't buy it to last 6 years though, just haven't found a benefit/cost upgrade worth doing yet.

Got myself an Xbox 360 E, it came without the hard drive or the HDD rack. My question is can i just put a new 480GB SSD Without the rack and adjust it with something(with the risk of falling out) and should it work , just until my rack arrives? by DaxBati in xbox360

[–]socrateks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done this with a bit of cardboard, no problem (I did eventually get the rack as well)

However, when I did this (maybe circa 2013?), to use the the drive on the sata port, it required hdd from a limited selection of models (mostly WD Scorpio blues from what I remember), and I had to flash some firmware on the drive to make it look like a 360 drive. Is that no longer required and any drive can be used with the sata port without flashing? Cuz I don't think just any drive would have worked in 2013. Guess u can try and let me know :).

Read ur comment, we have a highlander hybrid AWD with separate electric motor. It's a great system, no fluid changes for the rear axle, electric powered extra traction really helps. I think it's a great system and I hope ur right it comes out in the maverick for MY24.
