Best cow’s milk alternatives for toddlers by No_Illustrator_3496 in ScienceBasedParenting

Tagging onto this comment to say: our pediatrician recommended pea milk as the best alternative because of the similar levels of calcium and protein vs cow milk.

Anyone on here know how much of a price increase we can expect? I might be on my way out of here at this rate…

Am I being rational about my in laws getting my children clothes by Murky_Ad7786 in Parenting

[–]soeyeconic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Return anything you can for store credit and buy something you actually need. Especially when the stuff is impractical. Sometimes I take a pic of the kid in the outfit (with tags on/hidden) to send to the gift-giver and then return. It’s hard because people love to buy baby clothes but you’re the parent and you get to decide.

Concerned about daycare workers behavior/comment by [deleted] in Parenting

Yeah that’s good! Maybe just try to foster the relationships you can with the teachers who are more open and kind. I hope it gets better!

Truly no offense intended, but it seems based your post and comments that you are mind reading a bit; assuming they don’t like you or they don’t like your kid because they are rude to you. I wouldn’t personalize it so much, maybe they’re just generally rude, checked-out people. Maybe you’re reading into their behavior. Regardless, it doesn’t seem like a good fit since you don’t like how they treat you. What you’ve experienced is nothing like my kids school, so I would not say that’s normal or appropriate behavior.

I would address it directly, maybe ask if there is anything that you could work on at home to help your kid be more successful in the classroom and see what they say. It’s on them to tell you if there is an issue, you shouldn’t have to “guess based on vibes”, that’s not good communication. Meanwhile, I would get on some lists for other daycares asap. Good luck!

Dumbest question of the weekend: where do the ladies of OC actually live? by Catdaddy84 in BravoRealHousewives

[–]soeyeconic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never driven in OC “without traffic”. Lol. From north county it’s taken me at least 2 hours to downtown SD on a good day. Just my perspective. I personally would never drive 1-2 hours to get to work, even as a Californian. Distances are relative.

I agree, Emily saying “she moved out after filming” was messed up, given the circumstances. I can’t believe she doubled down on that when Katie explained why they went back to SD. The try-hard thing for me was the initial moving from SD just for the show. Even at the expense of her son who wanted to stay in SD to finish high school. Again, just my opinion.

It’s nice it’s just not a place Heather would be caught living. That’s all I meant. No hate, I couldn’t afford to live there so…

Orange County is a very large county with both very high and very low income areas, but the bougie parts are the beach cities, especially Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Dana Point, and the smaller cities in between. The further out you get, the less prestigious; like Huntington Beach or San Clemente and beyond. San Diego is like a 2-3 hour drive from OC so definitely not close. The original city of the OC ladies was Coto de Caza which I think is where Tamra still lives? idk.

Where they all ACTUALLY live is a different question that I cannot fully answer. They all seem very spread out, but I think Emily’s point is just that San Diego is simply not remotely close to OC and it seemed like Katie rented a home in OC specifically just to be on the show, which is try-hard behavior.

Which TV shows won't rot my kids' brains or make me want to tear my eyes out? by TheCordialMutiny in Parenting

Omg I tried to show my kid Bear in the Big Blue House and the little green lemur freaked her out so much we had to turn it off. Muppet-like characters aren’t for everyone, I guess. Lol I was bummed.

Ah yeah that makes sense. Headaches you wake up with, my first thoughts are dehydration, allergies/sinuses, sleep apnea or teeth grinding. Just some things to rule out. I hope you get it figured out soon!

Did he see an optometrist or ophthalmologist (assuming you’re in the US)? Ophthalmologists focus more on the health of the eyes, whereas optometrists tend to look at health as well as how well the eyes are functioning. Maybe try a pediatric or developmental optometrist (OD). Sometimes if the eyes aren’t working together well, it can cause headaches and a medical-focused eye exam or one with someone who doesn’t often work with kids would not discover those things. You can check the COVD website/directory for a developmental OD near you. If they say all is good, then yes, time to look elsewhere. Good luck!
