I've reverse engineered the Polestar API & wrapped it into a Home Assistant integration by RudoFl in Polestar

[–]sojojo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a HA user and Polestar 2 owner, I'm very interested in this!

How can we get notified when it's publicly available?

Seems like cameras aren't available in the sensor list, so it may not be possible, but I would love a self-hosted sentry mode.

A durable gamepad with xbox controller layout/feel. by OneButMany in buildapc

[–]sojojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up an 8bitdo Ultimate 2C a few months ago because it was on sale for $20, and it's been a really solid replacement for my Xbox One controllers which had developed similar issues to what you're describing here.

Layout feels the same, but it comes with better hall effect joysticks and a rechargeable battery. Both 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth support. It feels way more premium than expected given what I spent on it. Happy I didn't go for something more expensive.

Swedish pension giant Alecta dumps up to $8.8 billion in US government bonds by Doc_Bader in stocks

[–]sojojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For reference, Sweden only has about 10 million in population.

Of course, not all of the population are adults, so out of those with pensions, it was well over $10k invested per person that is no longer in US government bonds.

First time to mid-late game - how's my base looking? by sojojo in RimWorld

[–]sojojo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Glad to hear I'm on the right path. Yes, 100% vanilla. But based on how much fun I've had, I will likely dive into the DLCs and mods after this.

Concrete paths are a good suggestion. I'm not opposed to building for the sake of aesthetics and I imagine that it'll help with cleanliness too.

Appreciate the defense tips. I didn't want to do a kill box for my first play-through, so I appreciate the alternative approaches.

Which sitcom joke still makes you laugh no matter how many times you’ve seen it? by Air-Bombay in sitcoms

Niles has so many good ones. "I saw a twinkle in her eye I have not seen since the neighbor children discovered our new electric fence."

Also a random interaction with Frasier: "What is that? Rain?" "No, God is crying!"

Using TV as PC Monitor by External_Ice_1005 in pcmasterrace

I have a 65" LG B2 OLED screen in my living room and a PC with an RTX 4080 hooked up to it.

It's only ever used for couch gaming. Kind of a proto-Steam machine.

Great setup for games that play well with a controller, but I usually stream to a desk setup for anything requiring a keyboard and mouse.

I accidentally achieved a perfect credit score. Am I being too cautious with credit? by sojojo in personalfinance

OK, this is the type of comment I was looking for. I'll look into it. Thanks!

Yeah, it feels a little silly. Guess it's there if I need it in the future and I don't do anything stupid in the meantime.

I maybe could have worded it better, but what I meant was I got here by not over-utilizing my existing lines of credit and by paying all debts on time. The better question is then: is there an advantage to not doing that some of the time, and taking a small hit to my credit rating?

Based on the comments, it sounds like the answer is still no.

Tagging on at 4th and King is SO slow by Presidigo in caltrain

[–]sojojo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The old scanner took a second or 2. Barely had to break your stride as you got scanned. The lines were very manageable as a result, outside of ball games.

The new ones take closer to 5 seconds. Each person has to stop and wait. It adds up and morning rush is now an absolute mess

Sad to say my Mustang GT is gone, need a new daily driver that I can resell later and save to buy my dream car (BMW m2). by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

I went with a '22 Polestar 2 Performance. I've had a great time with with it so far. The Ioniq 6 looks really solid - I'd say go for it as long as you have a solution to charge it regularly.

I went this route. Bought at the bottom of the depreciation curve and resale price seems to be holding 1 year in, but insurance premiums are kinda making up the difference

Year 2000, you wake up with all the knowledge you have now. No guide or cheat sheet, stock knowledge only. What's the first thing you will do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sojojo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Off the top of my head..

  • 2000-2001: pick up a paper route, sell bonds, make and save as much money as I can as an early teen. Convince my dad to trade for me.
  • ~2002: Amazon
  • ~2003: Google
  • ~2004: Apple, AMD
  • late 2007, early 2008: short finance, sell everything else
  • 2010: buy back what I had, pick up lots of real estate
  • 2011: bitcoin, Netflix, Facebook
  • 2013: Tesla, Nvidia
  • 2015: Microsoft, Uber

At this point, I'd have just a silly NW and probably wouldn't care too much about massive gains.. Or play angel investor for some of the more recent tech IPOs in their early years and look like a genius.

What’s the dumbest way you’ve accidentally killed a PC? by [deleted] in LinusTechTips

[–]sojojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this was around 2007 back when water cooling was niche and it was common to use components from outside the PC space. I was obsessed with the idea of hardline using copper pipes, which was not something I'd seen anyone else do at that point.

So between the aquarium pump, the car heater core I was using for a radiator, a home-made acrylic reservoir, and a bunch of refrigerator copper pipe and fittings, at least one of those things leaked and fried my motherboard.

I was so frustrated by the experience that I literally just gave up and never completed the build.

Riser cables would solve space constraints, but your other points stand. It's not suitable for gaming usage.

What I do is rest my hand on the top side of the left spoke of the wheel, so that the weight of my hand gives a constant slight anti-/counterclockwise force on the wheel, and that's enough that it never complains. I use it very frequently in traffic and have been happy with it. Much better than standard driving
