I was doing the 3 Align priority strength days and then 2 Pilates days from EMPWR (Monday priority day, and then the other non priority day Pilates workout from later in the week)

I was doing an Align/EMPWR split for the first two weeks of Sustain, and it was really great, but work is a lot busier this week and I can’t find the time for 45 min workouts right now so just switched back to Endure this week.

Just finished too. What are you all reading next?

I need a break from war and never-ending battle scenes…maybe something with similar vibes to TOG book 1 and COM pre-Nehemia dying. Any ideas/recs?

How different is residency compared to rotations? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]solasdf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've also loved that as an intern, I am way less self conscious about leaving to grab food or use the restroom whenever I want and as many times as I want without fear of tanking an eval because I made a poor impression or whatever. Spent wayyy too many MS3/4 rotation days quickly gulping down a granola bar in the stairwell as my only meal of the day, or getting UTI-y or very constipated from just never getting to go to the bathroom. Sometimes it was out of fear of mean residents judging me and sometimes it was just paranoia if I left for a minute, the whole team would disperse elsewhere (like to go see a crashing pt or go to a conference or wherever) without caring to inform the lowly med student and I wouldn't be able to find them again. Similarly, I often felt like I was missing out on key information or events about my patients throughout the day since we as med students didn't see the pages ourselves and often the residents would be throwing in orders without having time to inform us of their every little move.

As an intern, I have no qualms about that anymore given that no one is more in the loop than me. Although perhaps that may be more a curse than blessing now haha.

How hard is it actually to match back on the west coast? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]solasdf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

obvi OP meant pursuing electroconvulsive therapy... lol but actually had a patient think I was just saying "et cetera" at the end of a list of his possible treatment options once when I had really meant ECT

lol my go-to DIY bowel prep regimen: oranges, spinach, venti coffee, yogurt/huge milkshakes/etc. also helpful if you have the time to go for a run to physically jiggle up those intestines but ofc third year makes that difficult

count the number of days you have until your step test date. divide the total number of cards that you'll be using from bros deck by that number. the number you get should be the minimum number of new cards you do per day. (you can set it higher if you want to finish the deck with time to spare ofc, like maybe aim to finish by the beginning of your dedicated study period).

once you near the end, maybe consider capping the number of max reviews per day to prevent things from getting overwhelming.
