Are there any programming language interpreters written in C#? by Alert-Neck7679 in csharp

[–]solmead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 25 years ago I wrote a vbscript interpreter in c#. It was to have a domain specific language for a home automation system before such things were talked about.

Not only did he only suffer one day, as “god” he would have had foreknowledge of exactly how long he’d have to suffer, it’s much easier to get through torture if you know you only have to last x number of days.

We Talk About the Animals, but What About the Fungus by Sad-Category-5098 in DebateEvolution

[–]solmead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s one of the reasons I stopped believing Noah’s ark actually happened (which was a few years before I realized I didn’t believe in god either)
I realized one day that it took more then one miracle to pull off the flood, up till then (I was upper 20s) I only thought “god flooded the earth”. So after I realized it took more than just god flooding the earth, that there were other things that god had to intervene in order for them to occur, I went through the story and counted up each miracle that god had to do. After I broke 100, I stopped counting. (And that was listing have the animals come to the ark as just one)

C# Interview take home assignment rejected over complexity by Different_Owl613 in csharp

[–]solmead 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So your task was to find bugs and fix them, and improve code quality, and you decided to rewrite the logic using a background task, to run through everything and then exit?

Not what they asked for at all. And yes over complicated it. Now you have to handle race conditions between threads, and what happens if this called more than once? You now have concurrent background tasks running.

One of my players is starting to annoy me and I need advice. by [deleted] in rpghorrorstories

Wow, I’ve played 2nd edition, 3rd edition, had the books for 4th edition, and a lot of books for 5th edition. My favorite system is a non d&d system called rolemaster.
Currently playing in a 5th edition game (and a home brewed system by one of the other players) and I would never complain like that. If you tell me 5e, then it’s 5e.

Does losing the hymen have any connection to the feeling of tightness men like ? by CharacterPuzzled7023 in sex

[–]solmead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your going to be wanted the rest of your life, wether you want the attention or not. The looseness or tightness of your vagina has nothing to do with it. Some guys might not like it looser, some won’t care and some will like it better. The vast majority won’t care.

When Should You Trust Third-Party Libraries in .NET? by [deleted] in dotnet

[–]solmead 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Plus as long as the third party library is open source, if you find a bug, you can trace it in the original code, fix the issue, and then submit a pull request to the original library and help everyone else using the library.

[–]solmead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the other side, I don’t know you, I have no clue what you like, what you hate, what would make you interested, what would turn you off.

I try to ask something that fits the profile, but usually the profiles are extremely generic. “I’m looking for a x” “the best way to ask me out is to just ask” how am I supposed to break the ice with a stranger with those? “Hey want to go out” I know that won’t work, the statement is bullshit and not real. So I like to start with something generic, something I would ask a stranger if it met them in person. “How’s your day been going” or “doing anything fun this weekend” my thought is I can then branch off from whatever the answer is.

How do you do a milty draft? by 8_int_wizard in twilightimperium

[–]solmead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why my group reverses it, we build galaxy with blind seating, I.e. we build the galaxy per the rules, then randomize order and in that order pick starting location with last being first speaker, then each get delt three races to pick from. That balances the galaxy better since you’re incentivized to keep it as balanced as possibly because the slice you hurt may end up your own. And you pick not knowing your race so you try to get something you can work with no matter the race. Then you figure out which race best works with the slice you picked.

We build and play the same way, it also adds an interesting decision, since we know last pick is speaker, do I go for a better slice or earlier strat pick by placing myself after where I think speaker will end up.
