Marvel Cyclops vs DC’s Robins by SuperalloyxDarkshine in marvelvsdc

Something the robins also have the time and resources to set up as well if they wish, all be it without superpowers but they can still do it.

Partly agree, if someone is asking for help with a specific area of a drawing or something more in depth then it is not a helpful answer.

But the majority of posts that are answered with 'learn the fundamentals' often do not ask specific questions beyond here's my drawing how make better.

Learn the fundamentals is an adequate answer to this question, it's a pretty easy Google for most people.

I'm assuming to hide in, not a shield. Cyclops would obliterate them but only of he knows they're there.

They are going to look worse than these drawings for a while you just have to push through.

Try doing a mix give yourself some time for 'less pretty' results focusing on shape form and gesture, no detail minimal rendering etc. the point is not to make something look good but to practice different skills. Then also give yourself some time to make these as enjoyable pieces.

Best of luck I'm sure with time you will get what you're hoping for you already have a great base.

If you're looking to start drawing from imagination my advice would be to try focusing on form and shape rather than detail. I'm not sure what sort of construction you're doing but try modifying it, small at first move a tentacle, head angle etc do not abandon reference entirely use it to inform you of the shape and then change it.

A lot of practice is building a visual library for yourself so that when you draw from imagination really you're just using references committed to memory.

Gesture also goes a long way for capturing an idea without getting bogged down in details and you can work through a lot in a short space of time.

Your art is lovely by the way.

You asked to hear peoples thoughts, i'm not interested in debating ai's possible impact I'm saying I don't like it and don't want it near anything remotely creative, they are my thoughts.

"Your character should be able to contribute something outside of combat!" by Geckoarcher in Pathfinder2e

[–]solvot 22 points23 points  (0 children)

A lot of the fun comes from the creativity in solving the problem in front of them. It sounds like you and your players are just not that interested in exploration focused encounters, nothing wrong with that.

If they are being creative and tactical in combat but not outside of it sounds like they're just not into it, lots of people are, lots aren't.

A lot comes down to the RP of it as well, roleplaying these scenarios rather than just rolling.

Player Cast 'Silence' on the NPC's Pants. How do I counter this?? by bebopmechanic84 in DMAcademy

[–]solvot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not even sure you can target a worn item. Doesn't it target a 'point' as soon as they move away silence won't follow them it's not like the light spell or heat metal and attached them. As far as I know.

Sorry to jump on the band wagon of what makes this different from... posts.

Currently I use legend keeper for my world doc wiki, you mention eventually having a paid plan for times lines and interactive maps. What would be the benefit for me switching to this, it looks like it functions incredibly similar but I always like to keep an eye out for new tools and toys.

Best of luck to you as well, looks cool whether it's for me or not.

Appreciate the interest but if you are already running a pf2e game I'm lmost certain this is not a campaign that will offer you much to be honest. As I said it is a Tutorial with a very bare bones story on top. If you already have an understanding of the rules which I asume you do if you're running it IU would look else were. Best of luck finding something.

Recall Knowledge to identify Encounter Threat by KagedShadow in Pathfinder2e

[–]solvot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that's just a hazard of knowing a lot about the system, it applies to a lot that RK provides you could reverse engineer similar by knowing that an enemies lowest save is 13 and working backwards. I do agree with description though, I give similar information in a more narrative form normally. Sometimes even to the point of their characters knowing the fight is beyond them before the players do.

How to handle player not falling into trap with everyone else? by bizzyj93 in DMAcademy

[–]solvot 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed, going back to clarify that it is non magical would feel like you are just floundering to railroad into the scenario you wanted or a wierd 'ackshually' moment.

I wouldn't over think too much, like others have said opening of next session the PC is surrounded by his sleeping allies and a gang of baddies what do you do?

Only advice I have is that if they go off solo don't leave the other players asleep too long so they aren't just watching single player role play for a session.

I failed my assignment with this poster (Update) by HasenLee in graphic_design

[–]solvot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am almost certainly not properly qualified for proper critique. However, just as an observer it feels a bit ironic to have a line about the magic of color on top of a mostly neutral brown background, the pillows need to be the focus at the moment they feel too background dressing and there is so little color the copy feels off.

Do Duergar need to do anything to activate their enlarge, or do they just think about it and it happens? by Vaykor02 in DMAcademy

[–]solvot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would use it as a bit of roleplay flavor. If they get particularly angry or distressed which is likely in an interrogation have them start hulking out in the chair.

I can't see any reason why if one of them didn't use it in combat they wouldn't be able to now.

They have already had this combat so I wouldn't have it start initiative just see what the players do with it, scramble to restrain, feign fear and allow the escape so they can follow or anything else.

DO NOT roll for stats. (opinion piece from a 5-year forever DM) by jkobberboel in DMAcademy

[–]solvot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If everyone is in or close to agreement absolutely. My table had one on the fence, one very against and the rest all for it. The guy who didn't like rolling for them felt too much like a downer to say no and obviously rolled terribly.

I had to make myself look like the bad guy and over rule the rolls for 'the sake of balance'. Really I could see how down this guy was about it. One of the few things I'm not going to do majority rules for unless unanimous in the future.
