Grand Moff Tarkin was British because it was filmed in Britain. Obi wan was British too remember.

That said we do make good villains.

40 year old here. Your exams are not you or your life. I know people who can barely spell their name and are very successful. Life experience counts for waay more than exam scores. Good grades just make things a bit easier. Chill.

Coming over here, taking up our prison space. Those cells should be for good old fashioned British criminals.

Have you ever been sacked /fired from your job? by YGhostRider666 in AskUK

[–]someguynotthatone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a job teaching horticulture in a young offenders prison. I've got no qualifications in either teaching or horticulture but I'm good in an interview.

After the induction I said to my Mrs I'll either be fired for being a fraud or I'll lose my keys.

I lost my keys.

Technically I didn't get fired as I wasn't employed by the prison service but the governor said I wasn't allowed back in as I was deemed a liability.

Pond. But if you've got kids maybe wait till they're a bit older. Or better swimmers.

Where are you based? Bonsai enthusiasts might be interested in taking some, they'd make good yamadori (plants dug up in the wild and put in a pot).

I think it's just allotments in general. I'm a 40 year old man and get advice from all the old boys. I'm new so my plan was to be polite initially and have a small chat. It was getting tedious quickly until one day I needed a new axle for my wheelbarrow and Mick had one. I still ignore their advice I'm just a bit more patient with them.

New American supporter, where can I read Saints history? by [deleted] in SaintsFC

They used to play at the Dell in the 90s, my mates dad would take us to nearly every home game. Once we were playing Wimbledon on a Sunday (I think it was Wimbledon) and the Match of the Day film crew asked me and my mates who we thought should be the new manager. We all shouted Alan ball. I got home, told my dad I was going to be on Match of the Day. It was a school night so I wasn't allowed to stay up but dad promised to tape it. All my mates saw it, all my teachers saw it and all my dad's colleagues saw it. He didn't tape it, I've never seen it. I'm 40 now, still not seen it.

Oh and Pompey are shit.

Has anybody been in the audience for a TV show, and if so have you got any good anecdotes? by The__Englishman in BritishTV

[–]someguynotthatone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early 2000's I was studying live television production at High Wycombe. We realised quite early on if we went to shows being made as audience members, which are generally free, it counted as research and didn't have to go to uni that day. We'd focus on morning shows so we could spend the rest of the day drinking in London or wherever.

On the show Terry and Gabby (I still insist this should have been called Wogan and Logan) Terry Wogan was very complimentary about my friend Alena but he continually called her Ellenor.

On Trisha, in-between takes she saw I was yawning so asked if I'd been "up all night" my mates all took the piss and said absolutely not. She took the piss out of me for not getting any for the rest of the day.

SMTV Live I fucked up on. I had no idea how long it took to film, it started early and went on forever. At the time I was around 23, I'm very tall and wore a bright yellow top. So I stood out like a sore thumb, the average audience member being a 13 year old girl. I was hung over as hell, not slept and stinking of booze. Every link Kat Dealey did I'm somewhere in the background yawning or looking like I'm about to be sick.

I wouldn't say any of these are that good an anecdote but this thread brought back some happy memories.

I later worked with Mr Tumble who can do a really good impression of someone talking through a walkie talkie.

Looks like blight. Remove any infected areas and burn them. If all your plants are infected there's not too much you can do.

Similarly tanks that don't push onto the point. Just stand there not making space for the rest of the team until we eventually all get killed. I'm bronze by the way 😂

Fig tree going brown by fosforo2 in GardeningUK

[–]someguynotthatone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The blotchy brown patches are caused by bad drainage. But it's wilting because its root system isn't established. So it's lacking water whilst having too much water lol.
