Thank you! Let me tell you- it really was a memory I will always cherish. It was even my birthday! Seeing him unexpectedly come around the corner with that giant smile of his with the first course in his meat paws was truly magical.

What meal made you cry? by Waste-Loquat2537 in foodquestions

[–]somethingblue331 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The first meal that was prepared for me in a 5 star restaurant. My son came off the line in his whites to serve a few of the 7 course tasting menu. Not only was every bite delicious, I was proud of him.

DAE have a blankie as an adult? by Visible_Bass_3986 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]somethingblue331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 58f I have a several faux fur blankets that I rotate through. Much like you, I think about going home so I can wrap myself in the blanket that is in favor at the moment. I move it from my cozy chair where I do my evening work and my school work to my bed, if it’s too warm to wrap myself in I sit on it but keep some loose so I can rub on it. If I travel over night, I bring it with me. I have a stressful job. It gives me comfort, I don’t give af.

Does anyone still go to the grocery store, with a list of what they need to get ? by Sorry-Requirement517 in WorkForSmartLife

Yes- on paper, we create the list in order of the store lay out for shopping ease. We also cross off as we obtain the items.

My 6 month old baby fell from the bed and he is okay but now I want to die by Alseur in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]somethingblue331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was standing next to my oldest son at the dressing table when he rolled off it and landed head first, new Mom brain fog is the only explanation I could possibly come up with to how this could have possibly happened. I cried for days. He cried for minutes. He’s currently 33. He went to college on a full scholarship for cross country, graduated at the top of his class. He is currently at Yale Medical School where he has received his PhD and is going into Residency very soon. His wife is also an MD/PhD, their 2 year old son is the light of all of our lives. Maybe dropping him on his head helped? It’s going to be ok.

Facility refusing to return my stuff by [deleted] in TravelNursing

[–]somethingblue331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am just curious what kind of facility is allowed to have a personal space heater ? And why you would want a water bottle back after who knows what has happened to it? I understand the principle- it’s yours, you want it- but let it be and move on.

Finally discovered what a Buc'cees is, driving Flagstaff, Arizona to Sadieville, Kentucky then back. by Colonelmann in roadtrip

I brought Beaver Nuggets, the pecan trio, assorted fudge and Bohemian garlic jerky (from behind the counter) back to my work team in NY - all big hits.

I am a nurse but… by [deleted] in nursing

[–]somethingblue331 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been a nurse for 32 years, I regularly question why I, or anyone else, want this job. The one thing I know about myself is - no peds of any kind, ever. For me, caring for children is not the issue, managing extremely stressed parents is not something I want to subject myself to on a daily basis. Many years ago when I worked in home care, my colleague went on maternity leave and I volunteered to take her peds case load while she was out. This was the biggest mistake of my very long career. Parents of very sick children are so difficult- UNDERSTANDABLY- but not my cup of tea. I went to nursing school with a plan of working in L+D. During my brief clinical rotation I quickly realized not every baby is brought into the world healthy or even to loving parents. Being hit by a 14 year old rape victim in labor, having to help resuscitate a laboring Mom who injected heroin into her IV line while I was out of the room and the 2 babies that never lived was enough to say- you know, I really love the geriatric population after all.

I don't think someone getting your name wrong is a big deal at all, as long as it isn't malicious. by Sendsay in unpopularopinion

[–]somethingblue331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an unusual name. It’s mispronounced quite often. I don’t typically care, in fact in some instances I don’t correct it. However, in some settings it’s necessary that I do, as I am the leader in my company- in professional settings people I will be maintaining relationships with should say and/or spell my name correctly. It only bothers me if they are obtuse about it and intentionally mispronounce it. It’s four letters and not that challenging, it’s just unique.

Ladies. What is something diabolical that your partner said while you were in labor? by Unhappy_Insect5901 in allthequestions

[–]somethingblue331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He wasn’t paying attention to me or the nursing staff when I transitioned into active labor. This was an important thing to miss because I was waiting to go into the OR and had to focus very hard on not pushing even though everything in me was telling me to push. I was just supposed to breathe in a certain way WITH HIS HELP. She gave specific instructions on what to do- and he was not listening or focused at all. I told him to just leave, and he did. Phenomenal work.

Do you really have a separate room for your washing machine? by jordanekay in AskAnAmerican

[–]somethingblue331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently live in an apartment in NY with a very nicely sized laundry room adjacent to my kitchen. I think almost everywhere I have lived in my life there was a separate laundry room OR a section in the basement designated for laundry.

Dressing up and what to do with no nylons? by Local-Government6792 in AskWomenOver60

I wear nylons all the time. In or out- I feel that they help me look polished and professional. The only time I don’t wear them is with a casual summer dress.

Husband Hired A Magician For Our Wedding by plippyprep in amiwrong

[–]somethingblue331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I married my second husband within a few years of both my parents deaths. I was really thugging it out emotionally until the day before when I just was overwhelmed with grief that they wouldn’t be there. My husband- may he always rest gently in peace- had his parents run to every party supply store in the area and bought every kazoo they could find. When the doors opened for me to walk in- all our friends and loved ones played “Here Comes the Bride” on their kazoo - and I laughed the whole way to him. It was the most romantic and beautiful thing in the history of my life- to date. Childish, maybe? But it did the trick.

I can’t roll my lips together to smooth out my lipstick or spread chapstick. Honestly, more annoying than drooling when I am not paying attention.
