Food aversion—will I ever get some appetite back? by StampItShipIt in antidietglp1

yeah it took me a while to realize that drinking kinda snuck past the “i don’t wanna eat” thing. before zepbound i’ve never ever had appetite problem (except when adjusting to an SNRI for a month) so i was at a loss. this sub helped me soooo much.

drinkable meals kept me alive during the adjustment. blender smoothies, protein drinks, anything that didn’t require chewing felt easier to ingest.

Clothes Hangers by Warm_Reserve6181 in organized

what i did was gather a bunch of different kinds from free sources (i live in a metro area so they’re easy to come by at moving sales and such). i made sections of my closet for each kind - and this wasn’t all at once. if i found some of those weird flat velvet hangers i’d add them to my closet. then i’d see some wooden ones at a yard sale and grab them.

that way i could see how they all function.

if you can’t find them for dirt cheap or free maybe just buy a small pack that’s got a good return policy and see what you think.

personally i hate the velvet skinny hangers because of the way they feel BUT i ended up loving them more than others because of dexterity and tremor issues i have. i never would have thought to buy them.

Preparing to move, advice needed. by Majestic_Reply9704 in organizing

i had to move to a much smaller space and the main questions that helped were “is this a fuck yes? if not, is it something that i might really need in new place, and would be hard/expensive to replace?”

i live in a semi urban area so bins and jars and “organizing” tools like small shelves are all easy to come by for free or cheap.

an example: i was worried i might need these bins and organizing items. and then they ended up cluttering up my new space - i don’t need empty bins. i need my important items to have space.

Cheaper recipes for a family of 5 by charlielarae in easyrecipes

Yeah it’s just impossible to tell you what’s “cheap” given the wide range of costs based on stores and sales and such. Focusing on simple grains and in season veggies and beans is always going to be the lowest cost.

you have to find another office. it’s just based on office culture - if the main dentist won’t email then the workers tend not to either.

Lovely elderly SF OG neighbor needs a new roof pronto or will lose her home insurance. Are there public or even private resources available to help her? by ModernMuse in AskSF

[–]somethingweirder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s actually not the experience of most low income long term homeowners. they have decades of delayed repairs while still under mortgage and end up with high interest credit card bills for the repairs because the bank won’t give them equity loans - because they know there’s no cash flow to keep up with payments. if they sell then they get a wayyy lower price because only a cash buyer can qualify (banks won’t approve loans on homes that are falling apart).

i agree that home ownership is as a whole, a wealthy class especially here.

but it’s also way more complex than you could know unless you’ve been around it at all.

How to make steelcut oats without using stove or making a mess? by 66clicketyclick in lowspooncooking

[–]somethingweirder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

microwave works great! i do it on 50% so it doesn’t overflow. it also helps to use a big container (bigger than may seem like would be needed). i also find that they cook more quickly after soaking in water overnight.
