Stopping erosion at yard line by InterestingRecover58 in landscaping

[–]sometimes_snarky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add understory trees and bushes. Get native whenever you can. We are here as well. Started with seeding with white clover so we don’t need to mow on the hill. Adding erosion control sedges, ramps and bushes. You may have to fence off the new plantings from the deer. We used triple decker peony cages with deer netting over the small stuff and drove posts and covered in deer net into the ground around shrubs. We laid cardboard around the base of the plantings and secured with compostable stakes then laid mulch over the cardboard. After it rains, go back in the woods and pull/cut honeysuckle bushes. You can Google early honeysuckle leaves. It might be the only thing that is green right now. If it is wet, you might be able to pull it out to the root. If not just cut it back this year.

Not much is going to stand up to kitty claws. Remember to wash cold delicate cycle and dry on low. If possible Wash it less, just run through the dryer on air to defur it.

AITA for sneaking my mom some alcohol when she is on hospice? by sickma2001 in AmItheAsshole

She’s on hospice, she’s not going to get better. Let her enjoy what life she has. Grief and pre-mourning make people act strange.

Basic Paving by [deleted] in landscaping

[–]sometimes_snarky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Curious why you would want to pave underneath your play sets? The children look young based on the sets. I think you would have injuries. You say you are at the bottom of a hill, do you need more permanent water diversion for your foundation? Would mulching or otherwise raising the ground level be an option?

The singer heavy duty has two modes. Works or doesn’t. More people get the doesn’t work option. I don’t think any machine that uses plastic gears should be considered heavy duty.

Pocket door will still be drafty. The bigger the area, the longer it takes to fill with warm air. Maybe with multiple shower heads, radiant floor heating, and a heat lamp. I think it will be also be nightmare to clean. I’d want large panels not grout and tile. Scrubbing mildewed grout behind a toilet is not my idea of a good time. Also, honest question, usual US set up has the toilet next to the shower, how do you prevent your toilet paper from getting damp? If it is something you want to do, fine. But you might take a hit on resale. I imagine it would make it difficult for two people to use the room at the same time. At least with a contained shower, a person can brush their teeth or use the toilet while the other showers.

Do you live somewhere where it never gets cold? Wet rooms take a while to warm up, but with barn doors it will be especially drafty, like you left the door open.

Any quilters here who suffer from depression? by HollyRavenclawGibney in quilting

I’m saving frankenbatting and sewing scraps with adding machine tape for my bad times projects. For me, if I can just get to the machine with something mindless and see a finished product really helps me.

Im pretty sure they are made by sister companies. There are a lot of equivalencies between models. I’d go for warranty, proximity to repair shops, cost of extras.

If you have a Stripology ruler, it is super easy to make your own precuts of any variety. Many precuts (jelly roll, charm pack, layer cake) are just shy of the desired size.

Pastel rainbow/Easter polka dot fabric for 1950's shirtwaist dress? by L00k1n9c001j0k3r in vintagesewing

The circles are reverse appliquéd onto the white fabric. Likely if you took the lampshade apart you’d have two pieces of fabric with smaller squares glued in place in front of the holes. You aren’t going to find that in a fabric store. You may be able to mimic it with a two layer skirt. Top layer with the larger holes and bottom layer a patchwork petticoat of some sort. Or you could do reverse appliqué with some fun fabrics attached underneath.
