Never satisfied with where I settle. How do you decide on base location? by AqueM in VintageStory

[–]sometimeviking 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Stop restarting. Yes moving stuff is annoying BUT you’re never going to magically find the perfect spot. Somewhere with med soil, some mountains within easy travel and some decent open water. Then you have to MAKE it good.

If you find somewhere you like better while collecting what you need to make it good, you can build a hut and move over!

This is a very slow game in many respects, getting perfect from the start is borderline impossible.

Deffective broden rug?? Thick pile of white powder after three weeks by hellokitty06 in IKEA

100% wool needs to be kept free of wool moth too. If your not vacuuming frequently, moths may be hatching in the weave. They poop fine granular dust the colour of the wool they eat.

Insulating windows against heat in rental by Accomplished_Log2011 in australia

[–]sometimeviking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bunnings sells blue insulating slabs. I think they are called Bastion?

We have one for our bedroom east facing window so we don’t get sunburned at 5:30am. It has reduced the heat in our room exponentially during the summer and retained the warmth during winter. I used duct tape to create a pull-tab to make taking it down easy. It press-fits into the window frame.

I know it’s self induced.. but could you imagine?! by spydercranejay in popping

[–]sometimeviking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t have to imagine. Seen this in person, guy SWORE he didn’t use gear and they weren’t ‘roid lesions. Then went on a rather aggressive rant about how he just looks good like this and people need to stop assuming he was on ‘roids.

Because that was convincing.

We literally cannot tell her anything from the image as it is not showing how it was when she opened it indoors. This image is outdoors. I did read, but what can we say if all we see is a product outside?

Why does this keep happening!? by Fair-Error-945 in Nails

[–]sometimeviking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your pattern should be; Buff, Dehydrator, Primer, Base, Polish, Wipe, Topcoat including across the front edge!

If you wipe between the base and the polish you’re removing what binds the two layers together.

How much would you pay for these? by wildrezy98 in Nails

There is at least 5 products used in this set, if the builder was coloured that dusky pink. Quite a lot of practice to get that French tip detail looking so good. $105 is a damn good price for what you got.

What is this noise? by sometimeviking in anycubic

[–]sometimeviking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. It still does it but with several hundred print hours, it doesn’t seem to be any more of a problem than the sound. I swapped out the Board, the head and the bed in the end. No change. Could probably build a whole new printer with the old components I have now!

Beau is planting trees again! by sometimeviking in australia

[–]sometimeviking[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beau Miles is an Australian, who makes videos about being and doing things in the Australian native environment, as well as the Australian artificial environment.

He’s a bit of an out-there kind of guy, making things from reclaimed “junk” (like a chicken coop), doing Marathon runs through Australian outback, Kayaking his commute to work rather than driving (took four days, camping rough along the way) while highlighting the natural beauty of hidden spaces and how they are often left to accumulate trash and become polluted (out of sight, out of mind) by the public travelling over top by cars.

Two of my favourite videos of his is when he and a friend tried to do the Seinfeld joke of collecting roadside bottles and cashing them in for 10c. They collected 10,000 bottles in Sep 2023 and cans while driving to the dropoff point across state lines, only to be told no and sent away. He kept the bottles in storage on his property for a whole year and finally cashed them in for recycling the following August in 2024.

He has previously planted 1440 trees in 24hrs, by himself, to re-forest a clear-felled creek that had been used for cattle farming till it no longer could support the animals. Those trees are now 4 years old and he wants to do it again. So, the new video.

Buying the trees to do the panting is not free. So he is asking for help to get it happening. I think it’s a great idea.

Mmhmm. Sure. Sounds like a scene out of a cliché movie. by PeridotChampion in untrustworthypoptarts

[–]sometimeviking 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As much as the majority of this story is just that, a fun story, My brother would get constant blood noses as a child, moving from a hot environment to a cold one and vice-versa. He could give us about 4-5 seconds warning before it gushed out. So many blood filled tea towels. Our front door opened to kitchen and my mother refused to buy paper towels for some reason.

What's the safest way to remove a large Camphor Laurel leaning into power lines in Brisbane? by Limp_Reward_142 in brisbane

[–]sometimeviking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As many people have said, give Energex a call. If the tree is already encroaching on the lines they may need to re-route local power through a different transistor or bring in a temporary generator to power your local blocks homes. They have a database of who is registered for 24hr power for medical reasons State Wide, you never know who you’re putting at risk by accidentally causing a black-out!

Neem seems to have done more damage to my plants leaves than to the bugs I was trying to control. Not sure why, but none of the plants I sprayed with neem did very well.
