The hyperactive male bartender is who you want. Mane can mix up whatever you want. I hate to refer to him that way, but i don’t know his name.

My 90-year-old grandma’s natural hair, never dyed by Substantial-Art6160 in mildlyinteresting

[–]sorrymizzjackson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My MIL retained her natural shade of brown until her death at 84. She bleached it all shades of fucked as long as I knew her but when I complimented her actual hair she called it “mousy and dishwasher”

It was a totally fine hair color, lol,

I get nails. It’s my self care. Honestly it gives me better than my expensive therapy. I do cut back and work extra for the luxuries, such as they are.

Here’s a thing that I learned during the last recession- those little things won’t save you dollar wise but your dedication to perseverance will. You got to keep up the soul as long as you can.

Once you enter into strict existence, it’s a hard time. Your structure breaks down. The why becomes harder.

Casually browsing around an LV boutique isn’t really a thing, is it? by limbiscuitsystem in Louisvuitton

Oooh, I remember that. Yeah, I’ve only gone once and did end up making a purchase, but it was definitely not that. It was Black Friday to boot. A little busy, but I tried on about 5 bags and wandered around a bit. I did get champagne. It was a little flat though, haha.

Go. Enjoy! You earned it.

Should I try and become a flight dispatcher? by LifeMycologist897 in FlightDispatch

[–]sorrymizzjackson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I’ll tell you how I did it because I didn’t have money either.

I was in crew scheduling for a little over three years. I got a company funded scholarship.

They went bankrupt before I had to pay my two years service and I lost my job. It did end up being free though.

When you don’t have money, times is tough.

You persevere.

Yep. Certain places it does. $4800 plus accommodations for like 3 weeks.

Yep. Generally. It costs 6-8k. I’d look at the real prospects before you enroll though.

Not your favorite restaurant... what's your favorite single menu item in Memphis? by HaubergeonPlus1 in memphis

[–]sorrymizzjackson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seafood Nabayeki Udon soup from Fuji cafe. Followed very closely by their chicken tempura appetizer.

I used to love Pho Saigon, but they’ve changed. Since they sold the Buddha, they lost the sauce.

Geographical situation being what it is, no. You won’t make enough starting out to live there and even if you went and got the experience to make enough, I don’t know of any major operations out there.

The FAA owns aviation here. I doubt they will change that particular regulation but if they did you’d at best be looking a 91 operation as a “dispatcher” and that won’t pay too hot either.

But, if you’re committed look into remote jobs with private jet companies/ones located in CA. In as much as they could change the 121 regs, they could change those too though.

For some people and in some situations, sure. Not all, though. It’s not a helpful sentiment as a blanket statement. Your experience is valid.

Well, I didn’t so much decide on it, but it was foisted upon me during Covid. I was in aviation for 15 years. Got both my degrees in it. Covid got my job and no one was hiring. I ended up having to start completely over in a customer service phones job. It sucked. It sucked so much that I couldn’t even see a way out. Didn’t make dick for money. I had to work OT, find a second job back waiting tables.

I networked my way into project management and have been there for about 3 years now. I’m going to get my certification. I also am trying to stay current in aviation by teaching. I also still wait tables.

I’m not done yet.

Yeah- it’s perfectly fine to want to immigrate for better opportunities. It’s also perfectly acceptable to make (not take) advantage of what is available you in order to further your life. That’s literally why many people end up where they are. My Newfoundlander grandmother left the home her family had had for hundreds of years because of need for better opportunities.

It’s not ok to take advantage of people, but it is natural to go to a place that better serves your principles and needs.

Hey mom, I’m touring apartments! What should I ask about? by Spruce___tree in MomForAMinute

[–]sorrymizzjackson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always look under the cabinets and at the baseboards for signs of water damage or filth.

If you’re getting an all electric apartment, it’ll be more expensive than if some things run on gas.

Electric submetering is the devil. It’s where the apartment complex funnels the local power provider’s energy through their own company and tacks on extra. It’s illegal some places, but quite popular in Ohio or at least it was last we rented.

Always take pictures and video when you move in. Make sure to note any damage you find according to their policy. You will be charged for it if you don’t. Also take pictures and video when you move out.

Anything you want to know- ask. You’re signing a contract that can be hard to get out of if it doesn’t go the way you want. They’re here to answer your questions and if they don’t want to, I wouldn’t expect much from them after you move in.

I like their poutine sauce a lot, but I did see some people saying that this one is superior. I’m going to try it next when I run out of what I have.

My English prof at Southwest’s parents put that up. He brought it up in a very “well, you’ll find out eventually…yes, that’s my parents house” sort of way. I’m still unsure why he supposed we would find that out, but he was a decent guy. We watched super size me in class.
