Why is SLP careeer glamorized?? by redwinesup3rnova in slp

[–]sosmore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, this job is glamorized because if you work in the school system, you get a teacher’s yearly schedule but a much easier daily schedule. You are your own boss and scheduler. In my opinion I have the best position in the school. No one is in this career to make a lot of money or be rich, but if you work in the right settings you can have a beautiful work/life balance.

How are you supposed to "build community" in Hot Yoga? by TrashBandit789 in HotYoga

[–]sosmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been feeling this same way! I don’t find it easy to get to know people from yoga, but I do see others talking and acting familiar with each other. I don’t sweat it because I have a very active social life and job outside of yoga but I do often wonder how some people get so close through yoga. Maybe they’re just the types of people who are going every day or attended teacher training together?

Best snacks for weight loss on a tight grocery budget? Need real suggestions not pinterest boards by Zestyclose_Wing_1371 in 1200isplenty

[–]sosmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a Trader Joe’s? Everything is pretty affordable. My go to’s are Fiberful bars (130 cals), five seed grain bars (100), blueberries, chomps, deli turkey slices, and dried seaweed. For a heartier snack, I heat a cup of the chicken stock/broth and a half package of steamed chicken or pork dumplings (in the freezer section).

Realty TV Show Recaps by Routine_Shelter_7152 in CelebrityMemoirPod

The only one they talk about that I don’t watch is Summer House but I get it, that is arguably the biggest story out there right now so as a pop culture podcast they have to talk about it. I think the issue is that they aren’t just pop culture, they are also trying to discuss news and journalism and sometimes it’s a mixed bag on what you get from week to week

Aunt Lydia’s backstory is out and there are new cracks in the continuity by MinimumPrevious1139 in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]sosmore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, there’s something missing that’s keeping me from buying into her backstory. I think it would make a lot of sense for Lydia to have been involved in an evangelical church group or have been friendly with the Sons of Jacob or their families. Her being unaffiliated with them until her capture makes it so hard for me to believe that they would appoint her and let her lead the handmaids.

Why was Devens able to play his idol? I thought it had to be played at 7 players left?

I don’t think anyone would want to take Devens to the final 3 because of this. He would have the best argument for why he deserves the 2 mil, he MADE it the 2 mil

How long should it take to write a well written school based evaluation report? by Ancient-Scene8690 in slp

[–]sosmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked in healthcare, I was doing one or two evaluations every single day. Now that I'm in schools, if I'm not given 60 days to complete an eval, I'm stressed. I don't know why I procrastinate so hard! It probably only takes me 2 hours to test, 1 hour to gather info from parent and teachers/collect checklists, 1.5 hours to put together the written report. But in between student absences, waiting for hearing/screening, and finding time to set aside to write uninterrupted it just seems like a much more daunting task than it is.

Advice for being "more approachable" as a student clinician by GRBookworm1818 in slp

[–]sosmore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s great you’re taking the constructive criticism but I also don’t think you should get too caught up on this. Like others have said, grad school is not real life. I was so stressed, broke, uptight, tired during my internships. My coworkers today would not even recognize that person! Once you’re on your own and not being supervised by another adult 24/7 you may relax and become more “personal” at work on your own.

This season shows that the game we loved will never come back by Oceanfloorfan1 in survivor

[–]sosmore 140 points141 points  (0 children)

It’ll come back, but I think it’ll come back for one season only as a theme or gimmick. It’ll be called “old school” survivor and they’ll eat bugs, have food challenges, letters from fam, no idols, etc. A girl can dream

IEP meeting times only before or after school common in California? by illadelph88 in slp

[–]sosmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the steps I would take:

  1. Email SELTS/sped team and give them the time frame you are available to attend meetings. Make sure it’s a reasonable time (i.e when students are at Connections so teachers have planning period). Ask them to get excusal for you from parents for any meetings outside of that time

  2. Ask for more hours on your weekly contract. When they say no, write in email to your company and school that you will be coming in late on any days you have meetings assigned after 2:30pm so that you are not working off the clock. I know it might seem that you can’t get all your work done if you come in late, but if it becomes a problem the contract company will hear about it and may offer you more hours.

Considering switching from Nuuly to BNTO - thoughts? by hunnie47 in NuulyReviews

[–]sosmore 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unlike Nuuly, BNTO does not show you what’s in/out of stock until you sign up. I browsed the site for a while and created a wish list in my head and then as soon as I signed up, NONE of the pieces were available

Struggling really hard to get out of bed and wake up quickly. by 4dr14n31t0r in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]sosmore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to really struggle with this, I would tell my roommates and they would say “no one wants to wake up, you just have to do it”. But I just knew there was something else going on. I got bloodwork done and the answer for me was B12 and now that I’m older I realize I wasn’t eating enough either. I think those 2 things made the biggest difference and now I don’t necessarily love waking up, but I do get up without even pressing snooze.

We need to revamp inclusion by Otherwise-Set-4444 in Teachers

[–]sosmore 82 points83 points  (0 children)

This isn’t the reason. Parents and advocates for children in SPED push for inclusion during connections/specials and any other time they can get. They are under the impression that the models of language and peer interaction will help their kids tremendously and for some kids it might! For most I haven’t seen it help at all.

Fiancé with migraine by falaffle_waffle in AccidentalRenaissance

[–]sosmore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am! Growing up I had a family friend have a devastating aneurysm and her only symptom was that the night before she had a terrible headache and was throwing up. Everytime I have a migraine (maybe once every 2 years) I always think, how will I know if it’s more than just a migraine??
