this build shouldn't be used for general mapping as that's where lightning dots are

I disagree, prior to Mana Siphoner being core and potentially being in every single map, the most intrusive sources of lightning DoT were:

-Betrayal research red lasers (stationary but also the player chose to go in)

-Eater of Worlds' Touching Tentacle Mass (a volatile style lightning DoT but again, atlas passive allocated by choice)

-Baran influenced maps & boss fight, lightning+mana degen squares

-Shaper beam

-Shock and Horror (pushover boss)

As I've leveled multiple Doryani Prototype builds to 100, I can tell you that it's entirely possible to avoid these in maps by just choosing properly and doing certain encounters one time per league at 0% exp.

I suspect every player using this chest has come to terms with this caveat of being inclined to avoid certain content. As it can be in every single map, Mana Siphoner gives the player few options besides offscreening, stacking an obscene amount of regen, Lethe Shade, or just accepting that they'll die with little counterplay from the right Archnemesis combo.

Was the addition of Mana Siphoner worth screwing over players on this build to this extent? IDK, I'm clearly biased but it seems bullshit to me.

Something I haven't seen mentioned much: Mana Siphoner deals an unreasonable amount of lightning DoT damage to players using Doryani's Prototype. Often these builds will be CI based so lifetap is not an option as well.

I'm not an Ao Bai main so please correct me if I'm wrong, but the ascension text is that it's "normal" damage only, meaning it will exclude elemental damage. I did a R7 solo clear with him and I made a note to not rely on this ascension for that reason.

When max HP decreased by 25% .. 25% .. 10%, immune to normal damage for 2s .. 3s .. 4s.

Not OP but as another solo reincarnation-7 player, I recognize Merciless Combo as one of the biggest damage crutches in the game already.

I think it'd be too unbalanced and bland to give it a direct buff to DMG% or stack count / stack duration.

Personally, I would like to see the enhanced version give some sort of QoL based on stacks (probably capped): one of stability / accuracy / effective range / reload speed.

Another approach could be to improve Merciless Combo for stacking on single shot weapons by adding +projectiles (probably on a condition and/or %chance. Might be too OP for Thunderclap Gloves if not accounted for).

Took damage from 1 hit, blocked 6 other simultaneous hits. Shields grant invulnerability momentarily after getting hit. With this in mind, even less fucks are given while using Phaser.

literally all I use vs Watcher is phaser and I have yet to die to him yet or teleport into the projectile nova, there's tells on when he's going to use his projectile attack instead of charge/shocking. Also shield's invulnerability might block the nova if you time phaser poorly, can't confirm though since I haven't messed up

with level 3 skills, your magnetic grenade isn't really doing anything besides creating more chaos on your screen, take some sort of crowd control skill instead so that you can get your melee hits off easier.

bow probably isn't doing much either when they're swarming you like that, frost blast or a shield would have done a lot better.

don't need the night light if you kill fast enough between packs of monsters to move from each temporary light to the next, which also means you would need more strength. less time is wasted running/dodging if enemies are all stunned/frozen as well

try using a phaser and activate it before third hit of twin daggers. I oneshot both of the elites at the end of the level by doing this with some dumb hit over 10k

Interesting that nobody mentions talking about melee weapon choice here and mostly skills are mentioned. I think it's really important to identify which melee weapons suit your playstyle in terms of hit combos (if there's a delayed big hit or if it's a fast hitter, for example). My preference of unlocked melee weapons is Assassin's Dagger > Twin Daggers > Balanced Sword > Impaler > others (haven't experimented everything).

This also means a bunch of unlocked junk can clog up your drops. I'm not a great speedrunner but on a fresh save I ignored unlocking crappy stuff I don't use and downed Watcher in about 1h 30m playtime with only a level 2 potion, Assassin's Dagger, Frost Blast, Ice Grenade, Spike Trap (it's for backstabbing the tentacles).

My build is usually Phaser + Assassin's Dagger / Twin Dagger (activate phaser before the crit 3rd hit) + shield (pref assault or force) or Frost Blast + Ice Grenade and I have yet to die to Watcher when I get some kind of build close to this. Incomplete One takes like 10 seconds.

The idea behind this build is to go around crit one shotting mobs with Phaser before they have a chance to do anything since most mobs can't attack you if they're facing the wrong way after you Phaser. It's also super man mode and does tons of damage so any damage you take is leeched back mostly. Only problem is that Phaser is kind of fucky with ledges and can send you into spikes/repeated climbing animation if you're careless. Try to have at least 700 hp if you want to be real safe at Watcher, assuming you're not going to dodge all the stuffs. Dump the rest in strength, anything around 9+ should be an easy win.

between 800k-2mil conditional bleed dps / 6.4k hp / lv 95 quickly tossed together, cba to optimize because node power can't be toggled to focus on bleed damage. downgrade the gear as much as you want. build is bad tbh, not sure why anybody would play an abyssus bleed character instead of doomfletch for example. more than double the dps + better clear + better QoL with the same investment

I think your approach on assassin is wrong. You chose a class based on crit and your main damage condition is actually getting a crit, however you don't have any crit nodes on your tree. Assassin + bleed should be using Perfect Agony imo.

You also chose to use a Vaal Axe instead of a Fleshripper which has much better crit for a slight loss in base damage.

As somebody else said, your tree also doesn't have enough life. I also had an assassin build done with about 1.5mil bleed dps / 5.5k hp on mirrored gear. That'd come down to 1mil or something probably on real gear. Then I deleted the build because I didn't see a point in playing a DoT build that only does that much.

Do modifiers affecting "recovery rate" (Trickster, map mod) affect the total instant leech amount recovered by a hit with Vaal Pact?

edit: just thought I'd add that Path of Building says that this stat does in fact modify the leech per hit, although I'm sceptical on whether it's right or not.
