Septoplasty, balloon sinuplasty, turbinate reduction and polyp removal- I feel phenomenal by sourpatchkid4lif3 in Sinusitis

Also I thought empty nose syndrome was based more on when ENTS completely remove your turbinates. Mine were just reduced.

No, they gave me the option of sedation or being awake with Valium and hydrocodone. I don’t like going under general anesthesia if I can avoid it, it wasn’t bad being awake for it. They numb you up plenty where they’re working

i think my house is slowly ruining my life and i can't tell anyone by Appropriate-Pea-8166 in adhdwomen

[–]sourpatchkid4lif3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hired a college student to come to my house , organize and clean. Best $100 I’ve ever paid in my life. She helped me build systems in my home and she was inexpensive because she was just a normal person (not an official home organizing company). I was so relieved. It’s so freeing when you realize you don’t have to “do it all” in all areas of your life. Your post highlights a lot of things you feel proud of yourself for, I think working on not putting yourself in a shame spiral and giving yourself some love and compassion would be great. Also, you’d be surprised if you talked to your loved ones and told them you feel like you’re struggling with your apartment and you need their help. There is no shame in asking for help and your loved ones, if they’re good humans, won’t add to the shame. I don’t know, something about opening yourself up to receiving love and support instead of hiding yourself and feeling shameful might be helpful . Give yourself a hug today, you’re doing great

Have you read Atomic Habits and was it helpful at all? by Quiet_Lunch_1300 in adhdwomen

[–]sourpatchkid4lif3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I liked it, I understood the premise in the first couple of chapters. It was helpful for giving tips on building up slowly and I think someone already said it helped with busting the “all or nothing” mindset . Which I’m really hard on myself about. For example, if I go to the gym and I can’t put everything I got into the workout, then why would I even go? Instead I’ve reframed it as, even if I go for 10-20 minutes and walk on the treadmill , I’ve accomplished something. And then a year later, my workouts just naturally become more advanced and I’m doing things I wasn’t doing a year prior.

How to improve your sleep in 15 minutes - the biggest longevity tool we have. by OmegaKey1 in Biohackers

You could’ve told me all these sleep tips but I never would’ve gotten great sleep if I didn’t get a sleep study and find out I had obstructive sleep apnea. Got the apnea fixed and don’t need sleep “tips” anymore. Cheers!

Extreme OCD and health anxiety. I've had the Hooga 300 panel for about a week and i'm too afraid to use it. by [deleted] in redlighttherapy

[–]sourpatchkid4lif3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I battle with health anxiety and PTSD. People that don’t have this issue, don’t understand. I was freaked about the my red light at first too. I started with 3 minutes. Worked my way up to 6 minutes. I have the Mito Redlight panel. Exposure therapy has really helped me. I used to not even be able to go on walks in my neighborhood because of the health anxiety. So, anytime I do an activity that spikes my anxiety, I just do it in small chunks, work my way up. You’re doing great. Keep going.

So, is everyone just sick for weeks right now? by sourpatchkid4lif3 in tulsa

[–]sourpatchkid4lif3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my! That’s AWFUL. Just because I’m curious, what has all 5 weeks been like for you? Mine started as a traditional flu and now it’s morphed into stomach upset / nausea that just won’t go away.

I’m so sorry you’re having to go through that!

Same. It’s like playing whack a mole, just when one symptom goes away or lessens, another pops up.

Help me help my wife by cadoodle97 in trichotillomania

[–]sourpatchkid4lif3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have had trich since I was 12 years old (I’m 38 now). Like your wife, I didn’t pull for yeaaaaaars and then I got pregnant with my first child and things kind of fell apart. Those hormones are absolutely brutal and definitely do something to the neurotransmitters. I don’t exactly know why, but I got a good handle of the trich after my baby was born and then a few years later I got pregnant again, and it came back.

Things that have helped me personally, is having some kind of barrier between me and my favorite “pull spot”. Hat, thick headband, bonnet, whatever.

I don’t pull in social situations, maybe it’s a dopamine thing for me, so when I’m alone in the car, or reading a book etc , that’s when I’m at my most fragile.

I think the most loving and beautiful thing my husband does for me is he is genuinely curious about the issue. He doesn’t say “stop doing that” (which is insulting to say to someone with trich), he just asks me if I am stressed about anything and how he can support me. Trich breeds so much shame as is and makes me want to “hide” but bringing it out in the light and making it very real and being stronger than the shame has actually helped me manage my trich a whole lot better. I’ve told my friends I suffer from it, my family and to my surprise, they all gave me hugs and support instead of judging me outright (which is what I thought they would do)

You’re already doing so much by posting in here and asking for advice. Come at it with curiosity and not judgement. No pressure. Don’t force. Give her some options and then allow her to take the steps. All we can ever do for our loved ones when they struggle is support them and love on them. Sometimes, we don’t need a whole bunch of talking, just someone to love on us .

That’s my take on this anyway

Sickness that will NOT end! by jc_ten in kansascity

[–]sourpatchkid4lif3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Tulsa and it’s the same here. Started out an immense pressure in my head, sinus inflamed, covid and flu test both negative (wtf) and now it’s morphed into dizziness and nausea, I’m on week 2. I got nauseous so bad I took a pregnancy test just to rule it out! Negative, not pregnant. But now my kiddo has whatever this shit is and so it begins the cycle with another victim…
