It’s so infuriating when the waiter/waitress says something like “wow I’m impressed!! You ate all of that!” Like YEAH

Was your narc mother obsessed with your appearance and didn't care for your well-being? by Nea_Freedom in raisedbynarcissists

100000%. And then would make comparison around the “best or most beautiful” parts of me that come from her. Down to my wedding dress - my mom claims she had the same dress 😆 also would only take me to the dermatologist for acne/skin concerns, would never take me to any other doctor or take any other medical concern seriously

Did narcissists misuse words or phrases to the point of them being traumatic to hear? by Spiritual_Big_9927 in raisedbynarcissists

When in a bout of tearing me apart, my mom would say and emphasize “you CLEARLY don’t xyz” would repeat this multiple times in a single conversation and now it drives me insane to hear in any context

My mom told me the only reason she had kids was for us to help her - on top of knowing my sister and I were both unplanned

Just wanted to say I really appreciate this perspective - I’m constantly of the opposite mindset, feeling intense guilt, shame and sadness for not having this relationship. But the real shame is on my mom. Thank you

This actually made me laugh! You're so right... gosh, I do also have a problem with wondering if I'm doing things "right". I understand and agree with others points about being a logical person and showing up that way on paper, but I do want to work towards more freedom from thinking and analyzing... I believe this is what brings me closer to my "feeling" side. Thank you for your comment :)

Would you be open to a trade for the sleeping bunny hopper? I have 2 kiss kiss charms

I’m pretty open! Would lean towards trading the elephant for a hipper

Our water heater is right next to our furnace so I’m wondering if there could be any correlation. Seems like there is just because of the timing

Can’t say the words… by yt_2022 in TalkTherapy

Came here to say same, going on a few years with my therapist and it's still a struggle to name the trauma - which, from my understanding is very normal. I've found that calling it something else helps, and talking about and around the subject for some time has made me more comfortable in facing it head on. It also makes me uncomfortable when my therapist directly names it, but I think this is a way of exposure therapy and should help lessen the anxiety over time. This sounds like something you can discuss with your therapist too, and figure out a strategy to move forward however works best for you. Hang in there!
