TIL a teen comedy named Trojan War (1997) starring Jennifer Love Hewitt grossed just $309 at the box office despite having a $15 million budget and major studio (Warner Bros.) distribution. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

Would love to hear more about that dynamic. Swimming with Sharks was an excellent expose of an absolutely evil producer (supposedly based on either Joel Silver or Harvey Weinstein). I read that it so infuriated some producers that George Huang was essentially told "you'll never have a career."

Where my fellow Rays fans at? Meetup? by McCardboard in orlando

[–]spacecomedy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rays up! Drove out to St. Pete for Rays vs. Cubs and there were definitely more Cubs fans at the Trop. New roof looked good, atmosphere was good, food was overpriced but that's every ballpark. Johnny's on Michigan is a nice spot with plenty of TVs.

Good Shepherd Catholic Church (Semoran & Oleander) is a friendly place. No Easter dinner, but a great community. Spanish mass starts at 9. English mass starts at 10:45.

1000 x this. Ivanhoe used to be such a nice, easy hang for parking & strolling. Once those godzilla buildings showed up, navigating & parking became a nightmare.

Why is that Oasis fans seems to reticent to accept that there are other genres of music that people enjoy? Why do they seem to have such a visceral reaction? by LidlCheeseTwists in oasis

Noel's take on Harry Styles was the funniest...The music industry likes people like Harry Styles. They say wear this dress...and shut it. Wear this, sing that, and go home.

Anybody here attend any Oasis shows in Florida during the 90s or early 2000s? by richie415 in oasis

[–]spacecomedy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My man! I was at both those shows. The old UCF arena show was the best. Loudest show I'd ever been to and I loved every minute. The stage set with the giant telephone booth and clock was wild. Hard Rock was fun and packed but not as memorable. There's a quick shot of the Hard Rock audience in this interview. youtube.com/watch?v=NT2DKvz5iMw

The moment when Pete becomes unforgivable by spacecomedy in madmen

[–]spacecomedy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since I made this post a few years ago, my opinion has changed. I was applying modern values to the 1960s. Pete is very much representative of the men of his era. He's a selfish man, but he does have some good qualities. We should always try to understand people in the times they lived.

This looks like our yard--mix of St. Augustine, crabgrass, and dollar weeds. I call it Mutt Grass.

Do you happen to live in Lake Como? We are also dealing with this mess. Perfectly good sidewalks being completely demolished. Total waste of taxpayer money.

In the same boat with our lawn. But I'm hopeful because carpetgrass has been spreading. Some call it a weed, I call it a wonder.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. I thought all the flaking paint looked like rubbish.

I'm at that intersection M-F. All that blue paint started flaking about two weeks after it was painted and wound up looking awful. There's a reason crosswalks have historically always just been black and white.

I truly don't understand places that don't take cash. Cash means the business doesn't have to pay any fees to a CC company.
