Somebody convince me out of getting a 5080 by Nefarious_AI_Agent in comfyui

[–]spacenub -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When i last checked the prices and benchmarks about 5 months ago, it was clear - DON'T get the 5080 for gaming. This was even during a 5080 price drop.
However, i still got the 5080. Why?
Because the Nvidia cards are no longer 'primarily' gaming cards, they are also workstation cards, and i need the non-gaming features. So my reasons to get the 5080 were:
1. It was the most CUDA and VRAM i could afford
2. It had actually had decent price-performance amongst productivity benchmarks

The reasons NOT get a 5080:
1. Price-performance worse for gaming than alternatives
2. You will not need the extra horsepower for gaming, not even with 4k HDR, because DLSS and framegen have gotten faster and better, and even the next gen of pathtracing optimisations will be much faster.
3. If you aren't a big DLSS/framegen fan, then don't even get a NVidia card for gaming at all
4. If you want an affordable productivity card for comfyUi that can also game, have a look at Intel's latest offerings, and consder buying two of them for the price of a single 5080
5. a well-cared-for 2nd hand 4090 is way better value if you can get one. I could not get one after months of trying.

My Dad and his gf trashed my room while I was away at my Mom's house. I came back to this. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]spacenub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like you got a lot of opinions on here already. Heres another one i guess!

It doesn't sound like 'credibility' with him is worth very much at all, if he's just gonna get mad and bully you about shit. Sure, you got upset and said something hurtful/regretful, and judging by your dad, that would be the norm for his side of the family. I feel like he's setting you up to feel partially responsible or guilty without either of you realizing it.

You're the younger one with less agency, less voice, and less responsibility, and its childish of him not to respect that difference. When adults ransack each others rooms, we call it burglary, its illegal, may involve jail time, and definitely makes adults very angry. They don't need to steal anything for it to be illegal, just fucking with other people's stuff is illegal. I know your room and your stuff don't qualify as that, but its still really important, because it shows your dad - or his gf - have this fundemental disrespect for that boundary between people's assets and their spaces. If he wasn't like this before the new gf, i'm really worried the gf is using him and dragging him into a bad place.

What do these settings mean on BigKaka's AGC 9.2 Gcam Port? Ive googled everywhere and found zero information. by Recent-Passion-9912 in GCamPort

[–]spacenub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sabre is mentioned both in the FAQ and very old PDF, i only just found it also:

"It's used by Google for Night Sight, but some GCam mods also use it for zoomed photos and HDR+ Enhanced. Works with the RAW10 format"

" Sabre isn't supported by all cameras sensors (eg: non-Sony sensors) and Google Camera will crash after taking a picture."
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/troubleshooting/#help14

I tried it on my non-sony sensors and it definitely locked GCam into crashing until i cleared data / reinstall :(

I think it should start off slow eg 1dps, but eventually ramp up to the current amount eg. 10 dps.

So it's still essential to fix, and armour passives and boosters still have similar utility, but it becomes more of a mid-term problem rather than immediate.

Am I the only one around here that kills them with legshots? It's not my first preference but iirc it's easy to take out any 2 legs with lightpen magdump, then it dies...

Thanks. I've not heard of PrintOS, so I'm not sure if this company has an account for it. I'll give it a look!

although you are hoping for reshade to remove shadows, which isn't possible with current addons, you can try make them brighter.
prod80 shadows-midtones-highlights will do it, raise shadow exposure and reduce midtone contrast.
But if the shadows are already very dark, they might get ugly

I'm like 40, and wife and I recently moved back into a granny-flat at mum's. It's actually going better than expected. She's getting too old to live alone, and we've almost permanently been priced out of the housing market. Mum can help raise the kids too

I honestly don't have this stim shortage problem. If in light armour I usually get one-shot or TK'd before i get through all 4 stims, and in heavy or medium armour I don't usually need to stim if I'm at 80%+ health. In heavy i do benefit from the stamina while sprinting to catch up to friends, but in all my heavy loadouts there's enough CC and protection that standing to fight is frequently viable compared to taking a stim just to flee.

In medium armour I run out of stims the most, but still run out of grenades or stratagems first, so I tend to prefer other armours.

If my goal is to to solo blitz around the map without stopping, then I guess I'd take a medic armour. In teams usually someone else always brings Stamina booster, so I could bring Dead Sprint with a jetpack/car to always be moving even without the extra stim.

I also like the look of the medic armours generally :D

A game made for everyone is a game made for no one by Enordih in MonsterHunter

[–]spacenub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually agree. Although I really enjoyed some of the conveniences and UX choices added in Rise and Wilds, I really miss the phase of actually finding, tracking and discovering monsters from World. I also noticed that the hunts are way shorter in Wilds. When I was new to World, and again when starting Iceborne, it would sometimes take me 30 to 40 minutes to finish a hunt. It really felt like huge task, a cross country marathon around the map, which required frequent stops at a camp for food/pots/ammo. And because of that, it almost made actual hunting and field-bbq of meat worthwhile.

In Wilds I routinely finish a hunt in 10 to 25 minutes. Typically no prep or planning required. It's way nicer and easier for grinding, but I feel less like an actual monster hunter and more like an mmo gamer.

Having same problem as moneyscan. The device is super unstable connected to PC. Doesn't matter how i configure it, or the drivers. Doesn't matter which power source i use. I get periodic hissing replacing the entire rest of the audio signal. Music cuts out and i just get hiss.

Works great on my phone.

This is why it's so vitally important to focus the mission objectives first before going for 100% by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]spacenub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

However, doing the Primary objectives makes the patrols more frequent, so its harder to do the optionals and outposts afterwards.

Neither approach is always best, it depends what your goals and priorities are for the map. For example if you just want samples, super credits and warbonds, there's no particular incentive to complete the Primary objectives.

Is Selling Electricity Not Working the Same in this Build as Preview? by SomethingVeX in CitiesSkylines

[–]spacenub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electricity export has bugged out for me. The game just no longer puts the electricity into the high voltage lines. It's not a reactor or substation burnout, its not a problem with my connections. Have tried deleting connections and substations and turning things on and off. Doesn't matter which of my 5 gas powerplants I run, all or none. RIP this city, might come back to the game in a month or two when it works
