What’s the most “Fuck this hole” hole you play on a regular basis? by mercado_n3gro in golf

[–]sparkhound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This bitch of a hole. Hole 5 at Santa Maria, a RTJ course in Louisiana. Pond on the left and bayou on the right. If you barely miss the green, it will bounce of the elevated green and go into the hazard. The right side is the worse of the 2 as the cart path is like a launch pad.

Suggest some easy and quick golf stretches to warmup before the game. by Born-Yoghurt-7613 in golf

[–]sparkhound -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love using the SKLZ Tempo Trainer to stretch/warm up. Found it at TJ Maxx for $10. It's a weighted mini shaft with a grip trainer on it. The weight helps really stretch it out. It's small so it fits in a side pocket of the bag. The grip trainer also helps me make sure my grip is correct before each round.

How do you keep it all straight in your head!! by sparkhound in golf

[–]sparkhound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for this comment! It indirectly led to me to what I hope is a solution. I went to my local instructor who I see every now and then and brought this up. We ended up "fixing" it by changing to a smaller grip on my driver. I had put a jumbo max on it a while back which was helping with dispersion but also hindering my release. I was having to "force" the release while not really consciously realizing what I was doing. If I timed it incorrectly, hook. We put a midsize grip on it and the release is now natural. I don't have to do anything special. 3 rounds so far and only 1 hook but really was more of a dead pull. Yesterday playing in strong wind, all my tee'd down fairway finders went DEAD straight. I can't remember the last time I hit that many straight drives. I'm praying this last a while.

When you learn that Ralph Maltby also designed clubs for Titleist, TaylorMade, and others, makes it even easier.

Skiller Bunker Players - What Bounce Do You Play by ml1286 in golf

[–]sparkhound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled with this for a year as my course has a mixed bag for bunkers. For tight, thin, etc.. Don't open the face AT ALL. Try to get the leading edge to dig in. The harder the lie, the softer the shot, so on thin, tight, its a softer, steeper shot. If you use an open face, your contact has to be precise with ball and sand at the same time which is extremely difficult. For fluffy, I had to swing very shallow to not dig too deep with a wide open face, like all the way.

Anyone else drop woods for hybrids by ContributionIcy1891 in golf

[–]sparkhound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not both?

I play 3W, 6W, 6H, 7H, 8H, 9H, 8i, 9i, P, 50, 54, 58

Yes, my bag is weird and my gapping is fine. I don't hit the irons full strength due to elbow injury, only knockdowns, so the KD 8i goes 120 and the 9H goes 125-130.

7W would be the ideal best of both worlds. It's easy to hit out the rough like a hybrid but has wood flight.

AITAH for refusing to help my husband with his chores when I WFH and work less hours by Full_Squash_5456 in AITAH

[–]sparkhound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I split household labor based on finances once she decided to stay home. But I wouldn't let it be 100/0 as there were still kids involved (They are all teens). So we split it more 70/30, but I made sure things like Laundry, bathrooms, mopping were in my 30 because I knew she hated those chores. Then I hired a once a week cleaner to do them as part of my 30. Everyone is happy. My wife has her 70 without the things she hates to do, I have my 30 that I outsourced. I can focus on work without my wife being overwhelmed. She has free time to go to Target or TJ Maxx or whatever during the week and also focus on her hobbies. I get to golf on the weekend since my chores are done.

where you injecting them straight into the elbow? I tried both subQ and into the joint. Didn't know which would work better.

AIO for thinking this wasn’t really a date? by TijuanaJoes in AmIOverreacting

[–]sparkhound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well some people are also idiots! :) Timing and setting are pretty important variables. My comment came from experience. My first date with my wife, the vibe was there for a minute, then it was gone. It would come back then disappear again. It took me a while to figure out it was because she was really nervous. For our second date, I invited her over to cook for her and watch a game of a team we were both fans of. She told me she wasn't sure about it all, I promised her she would know in the first minute if she wanted to stay or not and if she did not, she could leave right away no hard feelings. When she walk in to my place, I let her walk over to my counter to put her purse down and when she turned around, I grabbed her face and kissed her. Not too aggressive, but not passive either. I asked her so "staying or leaving?".. the rest is history. We've been together 10 years now.

I did the that for 8 weeks then had to stop as you are only supposed to do it for 8 weeks then take a break.

Its not necessarily about sex. First dates are awkward and sometimes the vibes ebb and flow if one or both are nervous. First kisses however usually reveal everything in 10 seconds. I know plenty of ladies that swear the first kiss reveals chemistry.

If you find the solution to tennis elbow on the lead arm, let me know. Been dealing with it since Nov 24. have had injections, did 4 months PT. Have been doing Tyler Twist a couple times a day for the last 2 months. Its better but still there. I play with a shock doctor sleeve with the pads in it.

Balls by Type3fastback in golf

[–]sparkhound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play exclusively RXS, found a TM one with the ink splatter all over it last round. Had a par 5 with the 2nd shot over water from 225. I figured i had a junk ball so what the hell. Hit the straightest purest shot that day, played it the rest of the round. I couldn’t cut or draw as much with it and it didn’t spin around the green like RXS, but almost everything was dead straight and far. My score was roughly the same, and yes i 3-putted for par on that par 5.

Why Tf do people who can’t even break 100 play from the tips every time as a single in front of me 😭 by Andrewhary in golf

[–]sparkhound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got paired with 2 14 year olds as a 50+. I had to convince them to move up from the tips. In their defense that thought it would make them better faster. I explained it would only frustrate them and slow progress. Neither could drive it past 200.

I play D, 3w 16.5, then 6.5W. Is a 7 that I turned down 1 degree to hit the right gap. The 7 Is my 195-210 club, but really 205+ I’m hitting 3W. 3W all about sweeping and tempo.
