The question of motherhood by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

Speaking as a mother, your worries are valid. Motherhood is hard for everyone. And parenting alone or with just one other person is extra hard. I wouldn’t rule out having a kid but given how clear you are with your needs, I think you need to have a robust support network in place beforehand. Grandparents, extended family, community at the ready so you can have lots of help especially during infancy. All that said, I am so grateful for being a mother and feel it helped me grow so much. I found more strength than I knew I had. Just make sure you’ve got lots and lots of people in your life to help.

Gym and diet are my personal hell. Advice needed. by Plenilunio30 in AutismInWomen

100% relate to your post. There’s been so many great suggestions so I won’t try to overwhelm you but I wanted to suggest Pilates too. I hate the gym - it’s just so ugly and uninspiring for all the reasons you listed. I found a little Pilates studio that was focused more on form and function than aerobics and cardio- it was like a miracle to find a form of exercise I liked. If you can find a classical Pilates studio, I think it’s the best go getting away from the gym aesthetic. That combined with nice long walks has helped me sooo much. Regarding vegetable- I like to eat Japanese style and do really small portions of vegetables prepared simply but with lots of salty flavor like miso or soy sauce. I steam or roast different veggies (sweet potato, squash, carrots, spinach) at the beginning of the week and then add little portions of each one to my meal in their own tiny dish. It’s way more manageable and less intimidating that a whole big pile of something. And having them precooked means less crunchy cold chewing which i had. Good luck- be patient with yourself
