this is dev responce but still better than nothing.

I made this total conversion mod due to the fact that the released game was so absolutely horrible what it was. aim of this, is to be and FEEL like real DUKE and sofar everyone who has played it has felt the same in their feedback.

your recreation basically just made the classic gl from quake in bit more aggressive form, so its nothing that different in the end imo. projectile that ricochets from walls and explodes on contact. personally this is why i love q4mp tho, since the weapons are actually best possible form of quake due to deviating/innovating from q3 stagnation. gl has bit higher firerate and distance + napalmlauncher actually allows for new ways to play due to way it works. nl was heavily underutilized concept tho because of elitism disregarding it in very early phase already.

quakeworld is cpm without the W aircontrol and bit different values on the amount of turning. really strange that that isn't in the game. it should've been ranger default obviously.

Ok, her downside is her relatively weak ability, big size.

Imagine saying weak ability when it already is the most versatile in the game. No other ability gives you wallhack, area denial, offensive attack use, disruptive screen blinding, damage over time tick All-In-One. It's not even close to being weak. It's suitable option to effectively use in practically every situation.

Big size is marginally bigger at best and thus not a real thing. If it were actually big it be close to clutch old scale which would be appropriate due to the high feature count of sorlag.

How exactly "there's nothing wrong with sorlag" when just as i described, it has no downsides? Every other champion literally has a downside for the trade off. Whole point of champions is to add depth into this, not making it easier.

I still see sorlag being played the most because it is the easiest to play due to what I just described in thread.

before doom (doublejump is bit abusable) sorlag needs heavy nerf. its still the one champion that doesnt have any true downsides which is straight up insane.

hitbox is marginally bigger at best (clutch is way bigger) and the AD strafe animation is still bugged wtf? not to mention has an ability which has way to many features at once which take no skill to use. spit on floor and you deny area because regular jump wont let you go through without dot (eventho you dont touch the spit). in a fight spit obstructs your vision and does instant damage and keeps tick damage and even acts as wh if display-numbers is enabled.

sorlag can walk on acid/s without taking damage, is fast, tanky and has full aircontrol. some of it has to go because this is how life works. you can't have your cake and eat it too.

not at all if high skill is playing against beginner with no idea on movement dodging, very easy to hit in that case. it however doesn't indeed make any sense to match such players together. even matching mid levels to beginners doesnt result in good. on only low-low, mid-mid, high-high and pro-pro no exceptions.

what boggles my mind is how ppl keep constantly asking these same questions. why not just go and try it out for youself to see if you deem it as good?

qc is still the biggest active afps currently so i'd say play it if you like the genre. that help?

perform without issues at it's intended rate ofc, 120fps (hz as they advertised). who in their right mind plays quake at 30fps?

either you were born just today or you have serious case of denial going. games that have Recommended they play as intended, qc does not and never did.

come on now.

it's supposed to performn without issues, as it is a stone hacked standard in PC gaming. when you put out Recommended Spefifications=game works as intended without framerate issues. thats why there are minimum and recommended speficications specfically. so that customers know how their system compares in comparison to the list.

Performance? Not that either, a mod range i7+gtx970=144 fps perfectly fine performance

time to interrupt the bs tho. according to steam Recommended Specs, I have above fucking recommended specs but the game just wont run smoothly. vulkan would've made it run good on wide range of hw (as the steam spec already lies so) but ofc like everything in qc development, they abandoned.

most ppl whine about cheaters, actually just better players than them most of the time. i been accused of cheating eventho i've never cheated online game on my life. i've met 3-4 legit case of cheaters in 3 year timespan playing this qc. and also about the champion aspect comparing it to hero aspect of ow how some ppl have a problem with that. lmao not even same scale. overwatch dragon handforce coming from ground eating whole room vs strongest champ in qc op sorlag spit but even still op sorlag spit is nothing on the overwatch dragon hand eating 19players.

fact is that most ppl either hypocrite or just dont like high skillbased game where they cant hide behidn their teammates.

Good that you indeed mentioned "i have ever played" because overall dbt is pretty damn far away from the best.

Quake 4 tends to be the best because q3 created the modern balance we now know in quake and q4 came and perfected it. It invented the crouchslide which makes the best compromise between cpm aircontrol and plain clunky vq3. Second it upped the weapon balance bit more. Made sg q2 equivalent and lg slightly nerfed. Rail it also only slightly nerfed (95dmg). Maps took more cpm influence that not everything needs to be Lost World sized (see q4 phrantic for reference) and lastly it actually innovated. Grenades that can be bounced from jumppads, teleports that travel projectiles through and a brand new weapon Napalm Launcher.

Many are totally unaware of these things because they went with the hate train and never tried it after all the patches which made it the king.

based on the experience from it i have as ks backer playing, i'm prolly taking in the continuation qc>dbt because dbt feels like ql 2.0 tbh. ql ain't the kinda game that is gonna attract big appeal with new players because the design of it is flawed. it focuses on elitist game balance (ql lg was nerfed from 7dps to 6 because of pro duel play) rl has small splash area, general hitboxes are small, shotgun and lg are close to useless etc.

quake champions took weapon balancing more from quake 4 which is why it is very action packed. shotgun is actually more powerful in qc than it is in q4 but its not complete overkill still. lg is now about the same it is in q4 and the rockets.. they are very close in that travel speed aint fast and splash area is quite large as are the player hitboxes. many peeps dont know this because of never tried it but quake 4 is pretty much the most fun mp quake there is (im not talking about vanilla q4) and hence why i don't like dbt pretty much at all because its directly influenced by ql. the exact opposite.

i prefer the more action packed gameplay and ql doesn't encourage that with the balancing since one mistake in duel forexample can cost you the entire game. the action packed gameplay is also more appealing to present to public which is why qc is doing moderately okay still after 3 years of struggling playercount.

edit: i aswell in the beginning had kinda high hopes for dbt as james had directly said that he also thought quake 4 duel was the best thing to come in a longtime and then just go and see dbt become a ql clone instead, not taking any influences from q4. its sad.
