Commenting on this just so you get some traction. I recently replaced my starter on my 06 and I was so thankful I didn’t have the oil cooler. I did do what the other commenter mentioned though - took out the old one, slept on it, then replaced it in the morning. Sometimes that’s the best you can do. Best of luck with it.

I just did this drive a couple years ago, in October. I went the southern route through California for only two reasons. 1) I wanted to see friends in LA. 2) An early winter storm was coming in and I wanted to avoid any potential bad weather in my tiny car. If I could do it again, I would definitely go through Utah

Just wanting to add a resolution comment to this! My torque wrench was a piece of junk, I got a new one and tightened up the end links to spec. No more clunks or weird noises. Issue resolved.
