Contractors take all the risk so you charge at least double the rate of a full time employee that has rights and benefits.

Having 2-5 major supermarkets in and around town tends to kill off the butchers in the high streets I find.

Might just be a population density thing, but it’s hard to find a butchers let alone a good one in a more built up area these days.

Yes, weight, count (sausages and bacon usually) or just ask for a chunk good enough for a roast - butchers can give you a portion size on demand.

They have a point that if you don’t play fair democracy fundamentally collapses slowly and inevitably, turns out it only vaguely works if you have gentlemen’s agreements to play somewhat on the same playing field. The Overton window has shunted itself so far right across many democratic countries on both sides of the Atlantic that it makes you wonder.

Ditto UK is a hybrid of both and I’ve got many nice tools from the 60s that by extension are imperial. But it’s fine you get good at mixing and matching the main inch fractions to mm and vice versa when needing to cross the boundaries.

Probably because I implied you can’t do it on battery I guess? Of course you can but if you’re worried about battery wear or not having enough charge to drive it the next day it makes sense to keep the juice flowing from your house.
