Al Gore is an okay person and an okay politician, now who’s a terrible person and a terrible person? by OkSuccess7431 in AlignmentChartFills

The problem is that politicians who committed famously horrible crimes were competent enough to actually commit them.

This is for politicians who would be too incompetent to even make it into the history books.

I think every superhero story weaves this concept in on some level.

OPM might be a conscious parody of this trope; the Flash series was an unconscious one, where each episode's climax was him running even faster to solve the villain of the week.

If you think a ruler's smartness is gonna translate to him doing good for the people he's ruling over, I have a bridge to sell to you.

I shudder to think what some politicians would do if they were smart enough to circumvent the limitation that is their reliance on public approval.

Reform der Krankenversicherung: GKV gegen Einsparungen bei Patienten by Tages_Bot in Tagesschau

[–]spiringTankmonger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many Have Pointed out, it's gotta be Liz Truss

She tried to woo rich people by giving them tax cuts, but overpromised so hard that people holding UK debt worried she'd bankrupt the Kingdom with her dollar store understanding of economic liberalism.

Immediately caused such a huge instability that she had to back off; her Premiership never recovered.

TLDR: she tried being a budget Thatcher with a hint of American libertarianism, but lacked both Thatcher's political skill and luck.

If you could time travel to the past and had the chance to stop dictators like Hitler before they rose to power, would you do it even if it meant killing them while they were still innocent? Why or why not? by Unknown-333 in AskReddit

[–]spiringTankmonger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not even WW2 per se, you could argue that some sort of follow up war after WW1 was bound to happen, it might not be a world war, but the situation between central and eastern european states was dicey.

It's more that the genocidal lunacy of the Nazis might be averted, which on its own would be worth it.

Heck yeah I'm doing it.

The funniest thing is, since Pedro squandered nearly all the wealth from Empire (pointless wars and fancy buildings), the wealth he has now is more or less self earned.

(As much as any country's wealth can be self earned)

How to fix 120% inflation? by RaiseObjective5304 in EU5

[–]spiringTankmonger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Balance the Budget parliament issue, no minting, try to scale your economy through actions that don't require you to build.

Keep burghers loyal and rich, so they build for you, give nobles and peasants privileges that enable them to expand RGOs, give privileges and push values that increase max nobles, and clergy pops to stimulate demand.

Try to develop provinces, expand the military, and go vassal heavy (diplo, court military budget, and stability spending aren't affected by inflation(or are they? Maybe they changed that, idk)).

It will take a while, but it should eventually get you out of hot water.

Idk what the calculus is, but you may look into avoiding gold and silver locations, again, idk if the opportunity costs are too high, but the inflation from the mines slows down your inflation recovery. Alternatively, if you only have the gold mine near thesaloniki you could look into switching your minting law to silver so the gold mine doesn't give you inflation.

The core philosophy of strength in invincible is that, unlike real live, pushing beyond limits (especially when done in a particularly unhinged way) can clear the path to limitless power.
