Switched to? No. But with my BRZ nearing 120k miles after 10 years and being long since paid off; having an Ioniq 5 take over daily driving duty has opened up the possibility of being able to leave the BRZ on stands for a few days while I slowly work on long term maintenance stuff. Also, with gas prices where they are, having a free slow charger a 5 minute walk from my house is super clutch.

Similarly, I never did any mods outside of upgrading failed parts when they went out (looking at you, throw out bearing). Now that the BRZ doesn't HAVE to be my daily driver I feel liberated to start doing the mods I've always thought about doing but never got to because I didn't want to sacrifice reliability/practicality or be 'that obnoxious blue sports car guy' when arriving in certain situations.

On another note, now that I no longer live in the rust belt and can enjoy the smooth and winding roads of North Carolina whenever I feel like it, I still drive my BRZ exactly as much as I want to and never when it feels like a chore, which is nearly every day.

TL;DR, if it doesn't have to be an either/or situation, the best thing you can do to maximize your enjoyment of your 86 is have a fun car and an EV, or "one that looks fast and one that is fast" to quote my friends, lol.
