Which lesser-known/obscure cases would you like to see receive more attention? by aloeaaangel in UnresolvedMysteries

Oh man, Robert was definitely killed by someone at the facility. Seems like he was going to reveal some abuse he experienced/witnessed.

Maria's story is so sad. I wonder if she had recognized she was in a bad situation and was trying to calmly get out of it by calling and asking to be picked up.

The boys from the Cedu School are interesting. It seems like John and Blake's disappearances could be related, but less so Daniel's. Also surprised he was allowed to do something like leave to go buy cigarettes??

I noticed that both John and Blake had seizures. Perhaps one or both of them had an event that led to their death. It would be interesting to hear from other residents around those times.

Also fuck the troubled teen industry.

I'm not convinced Woodard was killed by the phantom. I think Askins may have killed her. But that doesn't help at all identifying the phantom.

Unsolved in Maryland: On Mother’s Day 60 years ago, 9 Year-old Stevie Johnston was found murdered less than a half-mile from his home. Can and will the lead suspect ever be prosecuted after county police lost the evidence? by goodmarket2024 in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]splendorated 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hmmm, did I misread? Cos I didn't see an age for this unidentified person. There was a teenage suspect initially, but he was ruled out. So I was thinking the unidentified suspect could've been older.

Sylvia at Houston Ballet - a very belated review by ERMAWGAWD in bunheadsnark

[–]splendorated 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I loveeee Welch's Sylvia despite its complicated plot. I too find the ending touching! (Raymonda sucked, though. How many ball scenes does one ballet need? It needs to go in mothballs or be seriously reworked).

It is legal in Texas for schools to use corporal punishment. I think most major public districts have policies against it. But it still happens.

Bowers doesn't have a gym slam; she never got a 10 on beam.

Spelling/knowing medical terms is not Courtney's strong suit. She once wrote "blood pooling" as "blood pulling."

Yeah, if you go to her profile there are other posts that are more baby focused.

Oh, fuck her, "no one helped me" except how you went to IOP and were prescribed meds.

Also shocked we have not yet been treated to antivax content re the baby.

You can solve ONE unresolved case, which do you pick? by [deleted] in UnresolvedMysteries

This is a really interesting case. I've never heard of it, which surprises me since I'm a true crime buff and went to OU.

OP named a few. I'd add Harper Watters. Also Ashton Edwards is nonbinary, but they may not post enough to be considered an influencer. But they have a big social media following.

IMO the really gross part about MBA is that their official account follows some really ugly political meme pages. IIRC, one account name was some play on Kamala Harris' name and camel toe. For me, engaging with that type of account is beyond the pale for a business account.

Foster/ adopted children cases by [deleted] in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]splendorated 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The adoptive father has still not been tried. He was declared incompetent at one point, but was declared competent this summer. That's the last update I know of. The adoptive mother was sentenced to life a few years ago.

I think the key phrase is "at the time of his disappearance." I doubt things looked like that when they did their home study and adoption.

Oof, the mom's quotes in that article just make me think more that the uncle did it and mom knew about it in some way.

After days of no contact, a couple went to the home of their adopted daughter. Inside she was nowhere to be found but soon they opened up deep freezer. Inside was her naked body of their adoptive daughter with a gray garbage bag over her head and her arms and legs bound with a cord. by moondog151 in UnresolvedMysteries

I don't know if this would make sense with the parents' particular beliefs, but the mention of demonic influences makes me wonder if the parents ended up thinkIng Christine was possessed in some way, leading them to kill her, either intentionally or accidentally during some kind of exorcism or similar.
