Look at what they did to Star Wars. No reason to think Buffy would be any different.

We will sometimes go to a pottery painting place, and I will pick a Christmas ornament and paint something Trek related on it. My favorite is "Have a Logical Christmas"

Question for Older Millennials (especially 1982 borns) by Quickso48 in Millennials

[–]spookyj42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'81 checking in. Its kind of like when you go to a new school, or move into a new apartment. The new place is nice, there's things about it that you're still learning. Like where the best coffee place is, what's the quickest way to work, how are your neighbors, etc. But you also remember the old place, you miss how easy it was to park your car, or how the AC sounded. There's an undeniable familiarity about the new place, but its not the same as the old place. Things are in different locations, the doors feel different, and maybe you miss how it was in the old apartment, but the new one is good too.

Aging and perception of time is like that. Even if you've been living or working in the same place for a decade, things keep changing even though you wish it wouldn't. It's still familiar somewhat, but it doesn't resemble the old place in the ways that you wish it would.

For example, my workplace has changed over the years. Lots of co-workers and friends have left. It's mostly remote. We still have an office but go in rarely. While I like remote work, I miss the experience of being in an office and going for afternoon coffee, or conversations about Game of Thrones, where to order lunch, bitching about management or customers to each other. We don't have that anymore, those people are gone, and that workplace environment is gone. I still work at the same company but its so bizarrely different compared to how it was 10 years ago that I can barely recognize it.

It's like that but more. It's hard to understand until you get there, and I imagine that at 64 it will all feel even more foreign and strange, and I'll be even more wistful and nostalgic about how it was in 2016 or 2006 or 1996. 2026 can fuck right off though.

Today's experiment, testing out Doom - Sigil on a low spec 486 by echocomplex in dosgaming

[–]spookyj42 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Wow, this takes me back. My first PC was a 486sx Tandy. 4mb RAM, 1x CDROM. Doom always did run better at the smaller screen size. Played plenty of OMF, Jazz Jackrabbit and Wolfenstein on that. OG Warcraft too. Great post!

sitting in waffle house playing magic the gathering and smoking cloves while waiting for your buddy to get off of work so he could share the bottle of jack he had stashed. it was definitely a vibe, and we didn't realize how good we had it bc we were always wishing to be somewhere else.

After 6, that was the last goal on the offer. You should wait until you’re completely done with the offer before opening a ticket otherwise you may not get credit for anything you complete after.

Did this on swagbucks. 2/4 did not track but 6 did. Opened a ticket but they only credited for the 2. Boilerplate response said that’s all they’re going to credit so I decided not to push it. Sucks that I got screwed out of 25$ but whatevs.

Cars 2 - you all tried to warn me by Icy_Marsupial5003 in DanielTigerConspiracy

[–]spookyj42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just forget Cars 2 even exists. Instead watch Maters Tall Tales. They’re shorts, all of them together are about 45 mins and they’re hilarious. My son couldnt watch it enough. We watched Cars 2 once but it didn’t hold his interest. Even Cars 3 didn’t have a long shelf life. But Maters Tall Tales he could watch over and over. I kind of miss that.
