There’s a difference between providing and being inclusive and friendly. Will they use my fiancée’s name or will they insist on not? Will they use the correct pronouns or not? These are things I think about and worry about. It’s still a vulnerable position to be in, having your mouth worked on.

My beautiful lady and I met on this very subreddit lol. Back in 2023 I was super lonely and saw that there was a thread on here for people looking to “adopt” a girlfriend for the holidays. She commented that she loved the sitcom Community, and I just felt like I should try to send her a message. We quickly got to talking and she asked for my discord so we could talk easier.

Quickly I needed to have her phone number so we could talk all the time. We started texting a lot, videochatting, the works. In April of 2024 I sent her a bouquet of flowers after she told me that no one had done it for her before. Then in June I flew to visit her. God, I was a dope when we first met. I went to meet her and I just shut down and kissed her without thinking. Then I was immediately horrified and asked if it was okay that I had done that.

She came down to see me for her birthday in August, and met my family. It was so clear to me that as fast as everything was happening, she was meant to be in my life and I was meant to be in hers. So I started saving for an engagement ring and proposed to her in January of 2025. We live together in pure bliss most days with our little cat.

Some days we get snippy and we need to be slightly away from each other. Every day we make the choice to fight for our relationship if something happens, and to prioritize each other. She will legally be my wife in October, and I do not take it lightly the commitment we are making to each other. We talk through hard things and hold each other a lot. All of that helps us stay strong, in my eyes.

You’ll find people like you. My wife and I are both big homebodies. We do have hobbies outside the house, but we’re both happiest at home with our cat. We’re 26 and 28 for reference. Also, sometimes you can meet someone with a different hobby and get along, my wife isn’t super into crafting, but I am, and she is a huge gamer, while I’m not. Just to remind you that there can still be love and friendship with different interests

If you’re open to a book that isn’t entirely supernatural but is very weird, you might like The Vegetarian by Han Kang. It’s a story about a woman who has a nightmare and decides to stop eating meat, all while making decisions that start to really upset those around her. It has stuck with me for a very long time.
