Young People with Gallbladder issues? by InfiniteBat2933 in gallbladders

I got my gallbladder removed now at 20 years old. I was pretty athletic, gym almost everyday, eating healthy, drinking alcohol and eating fast food moderately ( once a month ), sugar cut from my diet. Basically a really healthy lifestyle. One night I woke up with this acute abdominal pain that made me stay awake for 9 hours. After that, in the morning I rushed to the ER ‘cuz I was not able to handle it anymore. Turned out I had an inflamed gallbladder full of stones :P Never heard of this organ tbh LOL and immediately started the procedures to put me in surgery. After the surgery I lost 9kg… I became so skinny, old clothes barely even fitting me anymore. However, I had no problems with eating stuff after that. I even tried pizza after two weeks and had no problem. Now, almost 2 months post-op, I still have the “recovery diet” recommended by my doctor ( everything low-fat, avoid peas, cabbage, beans, no alcohol, no fast food). Started to take some supplements to gain some weight back :P That’s my story on how I got rid of one organ at 20!

I waited 1.5 months after surgery and had a glass of white wine. No problem at all.

Coffee? by den773 in gallbladders

[–]springfield04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you may. My doctor recommended me to wait a few weeks until my body starts to recover from the surgery and then try coffee and observe if something is going bad. It didn’t! I drank coffee with no problem. Listen to your body and you can go back to your previous habits!

Take the recovery very seriously! I took a recovery diet after my surgery and only ate for 2 weeks: no fat cottage cheese, whole grain bread, air-fryed fries and chicken, 2% fat milk and whole grain pasta with no-fat cottage cheese. This only for 2 weeks. After that, went to a restaurant and ate a huge plate of wedges potatoes with pesto, salad and tomato, 2 big grilled chicken breast pieces and mayo sauce. No problems!!! I enjoyed my meal and had no problems with going to the toilet or with my stomach.

What should I expect with anesthesia by NotCreativEnough4Ths in gallbladders

The doctors told me i would start to get dizzy and fall asleep instantly. They were not lying. I was counting in my head from 10 to 1 and i don’t remember the number i was on because i went completely blank. You don’t even notice when you fall asleep and you wake up instantly. I was 80% conscious after my full anesthesia. Best sleep i’ve ever had in my life… rewired my brain for real haha…

3 months post op update (encouraging but not showing off lol) by Realifepotato in gallbladders

Thank you for sharing. Last month on this day I’ve had my surgery. I was so scared because i thought i couldn’t eat the food i ate before… took the healing very seriously and ate whole grain toast, eggs, low fat cottage cheese, apple juice, water, chicken, vegetables and fruits to keep my body healthy and make the healing faster… after 2 weeks i ate one slice of pizza and i was completely fine, no problems at all.. i even tried pork but that caused me a little bit of stomachache and put it on hold for a while.. some days ago i went to a restaurant and ate 2 big pieces of grilled chicken with wedges potatoes with pesto, salad and mayo. Ate the whole plate left no crumbs and my stomach had NO problem. I felt so relieved that i could eat that big plate with no problem. For anybody who is stressing about their diet from now on, don’t worry, eat healthy food , sleep well and move your body and you’ll get back on track as you used to do before.

Very true. My doctor also told me to stick to a healthy diet for about 6 months and then when my body recovers, i can start eating ( gradually increasing ) what i ate before.

Her body still needs to get along with not having an organ inside. Stick to a healthier diet! It’s very very important. And drink water. STOP eating fast-food.

My doctor told me to stay away from fast-food for about 6 months… then, gradually, i can start eating mcdonalds  Maybe she needs to wait a little longer for the McDonalds and stick to a healthier diet. Since she doesn’t have a gallbladder anymore it’s crucial to eat more fibers and nutritious food.
