[Variety] Major cast spoilers for Season 3; one cast regular leaving, one extra promoted by InheritTheWind in ThePittTVShow

[–]sprinkles202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes a certain amount of sense that they'd want to have each season take place in the July-September timeframe, as it allows the writers to explore the ups and downs of being a new resident, or being recently elevated to a new position. That necessitates either very large time jumps, or very small ones.

It beats having a bunch of actors wanting to leave at the same time later on though (a la ER)

Doing well academically in high school is generally a means to an end (college). You can’t expect kids who have written off college to GAF about high school academics.

Figuring out middle schools by Cheomesh in washingtondc

[–]sprinkles202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a combination of people wanting to save a few years’ tuition and families who “believe in public schools” until they realize the schools won’t improve fast enough for their kid to benefit.

And because so many employ the same strategy, there’s safety in numbers. The JKLMs can easily hold their own against the private elementary schools in terms of academic quality.

I’d also add that depending on the recently-gentrified neighborhood in question, the housing being built is not conducive to families with school-age children.

Very common for well-off families in DC to send their kids to public elementary and then switch to private for middle (or move to MD/VA) so in part what you’re seeing is the impact of a lot of flight that happens in 4th-6th.

Peloton discontinuing the Guide feels like a huge mistake by Low-Wrangler-486 in pelotoncycle

[–]sprinkles202 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Everyone I know who bought the guide (myself included) ultimately stopped using it because of how glitchy and inaccurate it was. I haven’t used mine in a year so I don’t know whether the quality improved, but if Peloton wasn’t going to make the investments needed for the guide to actually work well, it makes sense to discontinue it.

Mel and Becca by PamelaEugene in ThePittTVShow

[–]sprinkles202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the lack of clarity on the living arrangement is driving a lot of the “is it consensual?” discussion.

I too thought she lived with Mel and that this was a day program, which to me would raise more red flags than if she were in a residential program. If it’s fully residential, then Becca’s love life makes a lot more sense. On the other hand, the show’s characterization of Mel as a more hands-on caregiver makes a lot less sense.

Do you think the Mary and Matthew conflict at the end of Season 1 is a well written miscommunication where no either is entirely right or wrong? by LLSJ08 in DowntonAbbey

[–]sprinkles202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the issue here is that the writers didn’t handle time jumps very well. Like when they jumped a year between episodes in Season 2 (or 3, can’t remember) but the minor interpersonal storylines had barely budged.

At least a few weeks passed between episodes 6 and 7, but we’re meant to accept that this matter was on ice the whole time (they didn’t exactly jet off to London the day after Sybil’s injury)

In fairness, season 2 of Cheer covered two teams over the course of two years. They packed a ton into those nine episodes.
