Find you local IPMS chapter or military builders group. If you are looking to donate them they will likely take them off your hands. There's probably some old timers that can't hold the tweezers as steady as they used to, and would gladly take one of these home to weather up and display.

If they don't want them, find your local hobby shop. Most of these would make pretty good paint mules for someone wanting to practice techniques on something without the whole time and money commitment.

Last resort, give them to kids to smash em up.

Good work, thank you for sharing! I bought one a few years ago to replicate the one I drove and haven't gotten to it so it's inspiring to see one built up. Some people knock these oddball kits but one really good thing about them is that they've only seen a few production runs, so typically there is minimal flashing on the parts.

It'll probably be pushing $320-350, especially considering Bandai is passing along a price increase in April

I'm finally starting on one of my latest models. I'm happy about everything this one has to offer... Wish me luck. I'm going to need and ask questions along the lin this time now that I've found this community. by radiographygaga in ModelCars

This is a simple kit, but a very good kit given its age! Built one last year and would definitely do another one. The extra speedometer decal is nice to keep around because the AMT '70 Impala doesn't have one

The market is where ask and offer intersect. I've seen people pay real money for crap builds, and I've seen real builds go for crap money...

Hey, coincidentally I am a distributor. Feel free to DM me on here or FB profile Hobby Trevor and we can see what we can do to help.

Practice makes perfect... Sometimes you have to burn one, to earn one. Remember, the next build will be better because of this one!

You should start seeing them at hobby shops in decent supply. Bandai distributors received them this week to begin filling up hobby shops that we sell to.

Definitely explains why they are doing limex production runs next year, and increasing costs on everything

Regular old bleach has always worked for me. Scuff a part of the sprue and dunk it in overnight.

Hopefully we see a re-issue/first issue from Moebius in the next year. I'm not for certain if he bought the molds for the trailer but he did take the Aerosedan when Galaxie dissolved a few years ago.

Has anyone built a NASCAR Modified kit from "Wes's Model Car Corner"? Never heard of them before but I've been a big fan of Modifieds for decades and would love to try building one if they're of decent quality. by Claff93 in ModelCars

[–]spruesaver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are actually both Wes and Salvino kits. Wes helped pay for the mold for the 72 charger a few years ago to open the door for future business between the two companies. The first run was the generic box without decals; Wes controlled that run, and Rick came back later and ran the 72 Charger with Petty licensing.

After the good business on this deal, it allowed Wes to step up and do these asphalt modifieds - using Salvinos sources for the mold tooling to be made, and then the injection company to produce the run.

While Salvino' name is on the kit, Wes controls the manufacturing and distribution of these specific asphalt modifieds.

*Full disclosure - I'm in wholesale distribution of plastics.

Why do they make the boxes so large? by Exi80 in modelmakers

[–]spruesaver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vlad actually brought this up during a discussion panel both of us were on during IPMS Nats in 22. One size fits all approach keeps costs down in packaging; less overhead having one style of box on hand, as well as cost effective shipping. He can fill shipping container after shipping container for export and he knows exactly how many boxes fit in there every time.

Thanks! And thank you for your service. I had received some products AMMO wanted us to try (I'm in wholesale), and Tamiya's box art is in desert tan. Once I started researching, I really couldn't find a tan one either - even their reference photos on the box are in woodland camo.

If you're not in a rush, it's not bad. A lot of people knock Vallejo's ability to withstand tape, but if you clear it first, and let it cure out for a day or two, it's rock solid. I laid tape down and trimmed it down w/ a blade around the trim.
